"Why did I agree to this?!" I shriek, my (H/C) hair flying in the wind as I hold onto Jim for dear life.

Jim lightly laughs, turning to look at me, a smirk clear on his face. He was grinning so widely, his perfect set of teeth were showing. I glared at him and he laughs again, facing forward.

"Oh, you know! It's cause you love me!" He laughs, and I felt my face heat up.

"I do NOT!" I shout over the wind.

"Just joking!" He replies. "Might wanna hold onto me tighter though, (Y/N)!"

I latch onto him tightly as he starts soaring even faster, and I can't help but smile at the view.

He soars upward, "Jim Hawkins, don't you dare-!" I'm cut off by him grabbing me by my waist, and yanking me to his chest as the solar mast on his board flattens. He holds me tight as he starts doing amazing tricks, spinning around rapidly. I laugh with glee and excitement, making him open his eyes and smirk.

"Look who's havin' fun!" He yells over the wind, in a light teasing tone.

"Look who's gonna kill me!" I reply, gesturing to the ground rapidly approaching.

He straightens his board, and at the last second, his mast pops open, making the board soar inches from the ground.

"Yaaaa-hoo!!" He shouts, his voice bouncing off the walls of the canyon.

I notice a yellow sign, and so does Jim. He grins and rides right into it.

"Jim! We can't be here!" I warn and he shrugs, straightening me out.

A alarm starts blaring, but he ignores it, continuing on.

He maneuvers through multiple obsiticals, keeping me balanced with arm wrapped around me as he uses his other to steer.

"Jim! You're gonna run into the--"

"I know!" He replies, narrowing his eyes with a grin.

"Jim I swear--"

"You trust me, right?" He interupts, and I glance up at his face.

He looks down at me with gentle eyes and smiles genuinely, "right?" He repeats.

"... Yeah," I sigh and his smile changes to a smirk.

"Then hold on!" He yells, stepping on the button to fold his mast.

His board sails forward and he holds onto me, bending down and maneuvering through a small gap through the machine.

"Whoo!" He yells in glee, his mast popping back up. "Whoo-hoo!" His laughter fills my ears as we soar away from the sight.

"I swear, Jim. You're gonna kill me one day," I joke, straightening up on the board as he does the same.

"I'll keep ya safe, I promise," he grins at me and I roll my eyes, playfully.

He stares down at me as I look up at him and his grin slightly fades into a more serious look, and I feel a blush on my face as he slowly starts leaning down.

He freezes, his face inches from mine as a siren starts blaring from behind us.

"Oh, great..." He groans, pulling back.

"... I told you not to go there," I remind, trying not to focus on the fact he was about to kiss me, and he grunts in annoyance, looking back at the cops.

Third Person P.O.V

The Benbow Inn

Thunder gently bellows in the distance, indicating a storm was approaching.

A woman stirs a pot, and a elderly woman calls, "Mrs. Hawkins!"

Mrs. Hawkins turns around, carrying a platter filled with food as she acknowledges the elderly alien woman.

"I know-- refill on the purple juice! Coming right up, Mrs. Dunwiddie!" Sarah calls, approaching a table. "There we go, that's four powdered spheroids..." She sets down a plate and a toad alien boy shoves it towards his father in disgust. "Two lunar eclipses," she continues, setting down another plate. "And it's a big bowl of Zorellian jelly worms," she grins and sets down a bowl of worms in front of the boy, "for the big boy!"

"Awesome!" He exclaims, disregarding his silverware and digging into the food with his hands.

"Enjoy!" Sarah exclaims, unfazed.

She rushes towards a table by the window, where her old, dog-alien friend awaited.

"Sorry, Delbert! It's been a madhouse here all morning," Sarah apologizes, and Delbert closes his book and sets it down.

"No problem, Sarah." He replies as she sets down a dog bowl of food and a dog bowl of water. "Ah! My Alponian chowder with the extra solara seed." He unfolds a napkin and places it in his shirt. "Mmm! Yum!"

He smells it and exhales, noticing a little toad girl watching him with large eyes.

"Hello." He awkwardly greets. "What brings you here... Curious little... One?" She says nothing, and he scoops up some food. He was about to dig in, when he noticed her still watching him. "Go away," he politely shoos. He glances around, "are your parents around?"

He sighs as she remains silent. "What's the matter? Cat got your-- yAAH!" He shrieks as she opens her mouth, her frog tongue quickly lapping the food from his spoon.

She swallows and grins, bouncing away and Sarah joins Delbert.

"Oh. They're so adorable at that age!" Sarah coos, placing a hand on her hip.

"Ah, yes.... Deplorable," Delbert mumbles, setting down his spoon. "Uh! Adorable!" He corrects. He unfolds his napkin from his shirt. "Speaking of which, how is Jim doing?"

"Much better!" Sarah replies with relief. "I know he had some rough spots earlier this year... But I believe with (Y/N)'s help he's starting to turn a right corner."

The door to the inn was suddenly slammed open, revealing two robo cops holding Jim and (Y/N).

(Y/N)'s P.O.V

Sarah gasps, her hands flying to her face, making the dishes she was holding fall all over the floor.

"Mrs. Hawkins," the cop holding my shoulder greets.

"Jim! (Y/N)!" She gasps.

"Ooh... Wrong turn," Delbert mumbles to himself, placing to fingers on his temple, trying to make it seem like he wasn't watching.

Jim nervously clears his throat, brushing off the Robo cop's hand and wrapping an arm around my waist, "okay, thanks for the lift, guys."

He walks forward a pace when the cop grabs his shoulder again.

"Not so fast," he says in a monotone, and the other cop grabs my shoulder again.

"We apprehended your son and his little girlfriend operating a solar vehicle in a restricted area." The cop holding me states, and my face heats up.

"I'm not his-" I start but I'm interrupted.

"Moving violation 9-0-4... Section fifteen. Paragraph... Um..." The cop holding Jim trails off.

"Six," Jim mumbles, rubbing his cheek.

"Thank you," the cop thanks.

"Don't mention it," Jim sighs, glancing at me.

"Jim!" Sarah scolds, and he looks over at her with apologetic eyes before looking down, ashamed.

"As you are aware, ma'am, this constitutes a violation of his probation. And as for the girl, we have to take her in."

I felt my heart drop as I look over at Jim.

"Wait, wait, what?" Jim stammers out, "you--"

"Yes, yes! No, I understand," Sarah sputters out, "um, but could we just--"

"Um... Ahem!" Delbert clears his throat, standing from his table. "Pardon me, officers, if I might, uh, interject here." Delbert stands in front of Jim and me. "I am the noted astrophysicist Dr. Delbert Doppler. Perhaps you've heard of me?" It was silent for a moment. "No? Uh. I have a clipping."

"Are you the boy's father?" The officer holding Jim demands, pointing at Delbert.

"Oh! Good Heaven's, no!" Delbert studders.

"Ew!" Sarah replies, making me snort. "He's just a old friend of the family!"

"Are you the girl's father?" The one holding me demands, making me sigh.

"No..." I mumble a reply.

"Then back off, sir!" Both cops yell firmly at Delbert, making him flinch away with his arms raised in a defensive pose.

"Thank you, Delbert. I will take it from here!" Sarah intervenes.

"Well, Sarah, if you insist." Delbert clears his throat and mumbles, "don't ever let me do that again."

"Due to repeated violations of statute 15-C... We have impounded his vehicle. Any more slip-ups will result in a one-way ticket to Juvenile Hall." The cop holding me says.

"Kiddie hoosegow." The one holding Jim hurls him to Sarah.

"The slammo." The one holding me says.

"Thank you, officers." She turns to Jim, "it won't happen again."

"We see his type all the time, ma'am." The one holding me states.

"Wrong choices,"

"Dead-enders,"

"Losers." Both finish, making Jim scowl at the cops.

"Take care now," the one holding me's hat raises and lowers and he starts dragging me out.

"Oh! Wait-wait- (Y/N), she doesn't, she isn't usually--" Sarah stammers and Jim intervenes.

"She was only there because I made her come with me. She warned me it was a restricted area, and I didn't listen," I watch as Jim's eyes fall onto the floor in shame. "Please, she didn't do anything."

The officer stops and stares at Jim for a second before letting my shoulder go.

"Consider this a warning, young lady. Hang out with losers like him, and you may find yourself in Juvenile Hall with him." The officer warns, and they roll out of the inn, shutting the door.

I stand next to Jim and lightly take his hand. He sighs and intertwines our fingers, his hand lightly trembling.

Sarah turns to the customers, who were all paused mid-action, and they quickly resume eating and chatting as if nothing happened.

"Jim, I have had it." Sarah scowls, firmly gesturing with her hands. "Do you wanna go to Juvenile Hall? Is that it?"

Jim lets go of my hand and turns to a table, gathering it's contents.

I watch as he avoids looking at Sarah, placing the dirty plates in a tub.

"Jim?" I lightly call, and he stops for a second before resuming.

"Jim, look at me," Sarah sighs, and he continues to face away. "It's been hard enough keeping this place afloat with (Y/N) without you going--"

Jim sets the tub down and turns, "mom, it's no big deal! I was careful, and made sure (Y/N) was safe. There wasn't even anybody around. Those cops just won't get off my a--" he stops as Sarah looks at him with a annoyed expression, her hands on her hips. "Forget it..." He sighs and turns away and I hold my hand towards him.

"Jim--" I start but am interrupted.

"Mrs. Hawkins! My juice!!" Mrs. Dunwiddie calls, annoyed.

"Yes! I'll be right there, Mrs. Dunwiddie." Sarah calls and turns to Jim. "Jim, I just don't want to see you throw away your entire future."

He picks up the tub and I watch Sarah rush to get Mrs. Dunwiddie her juice.

He backs towards the door to the kitchen and he sighs, "what future?"

"Jim," I scold and he glances at me before looking back down.

"Might not wanna be around me, (Y/N). I'll just drag you down, too," he mumbles and disappears into the kitchen before I could say anything.
