—20. The Sun Also Rises

ALWAYS AND FOREVER

Aurora ignored everything going on in the world of drama concerning the sacrifice.

Seeing Klaus again was like saying Romeo and Juliet never died—does that make sense? Probably not.

She returned to the boarding house after the alleyway interaction, drowning herself in booze. If she didn't go on rampages, tearing people's heads off, she would be drinking lots and lots of blood right now.

And she would be lying if she said she wasn't extremely tempted to tear into someone's throat.

Aurora was filling her glass for the fifth time, downing it in one go when she got a phone call.

'Elijah - Noble Original'

Was what the the caller ID said, Aurora hesitated picking up the phone—she knew what he would say.

Did she want Klaus dead? She should, he dumped her best friend in the ocean, she shouldn't even be questioning wether or not to hate him. But it was hard, it's hard to hate someone you love deep, deep down.

When she picked up, she muttered a quick "hello" before allowing Elijah to talk.

He mentioned their plan to kill Klaus, and how they were all at the witch house, and Stefan wanted her there.

Why? Who knows. Maybe support? Oh god. Vampire sacrifice! Damn Stefan and his saviour complex.

Aurora sped to the witch house, coming in contact with Stefan, Elijah and Bonnie.

Stefan turned to her when he felt the wind blowing, signifying someone using supernatural speed, "Aurora-" Stefan started,but was cut off by his angry twin sister.

"No! No, Stefan. You can't!"

Stefan knew she would react this way, but he needed to do this—for Elena, "Rory, I have to." He stated calmly, reaching forward to grab her hand.

Aurora jumped back, "No, I won't let him kill you too, he's already taken everybody from me." She cried, although Stefan didn't know what she was talking about, he knew who—and all his suspicions were correct.

She knew Klaus.

Stefan tried to keep the tears from falling at the sight of his sister breaking down for him, he reached forward, bringing her into his arms, hugging her tightly,

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but I have to do this." He whispered, before bringing a hand up to her neck, and twisted—a cracking noise filled his ears and her sobbing stopped as she fell limp in Stefan's arms.

He picked her up, turning to Elijah—who had hear every sad word of their conversation, "She's known who you are this whole time, hasn't she?" Stefan asked the suited man.

Elijah silently nodded.

"And she knows him too?"

Elijah nodded again.

Stefan looked down at his sister— laid limp in his arms, his expression wasn't filled with betrayal but sadness, did she not trust him enough to tell him?

Stefan handed her over to Elijah, who nodded at Stefan in encouragement before he walked away, to offer himself as the vampire sacrifice.

Aurora woke awhile ago, panicked and angry. She was so getting Stefan back for that. If he survived this.

She shook her head, shaking away those horrible thoughts of never seeing her brother again.

Her and Elijah were waiting for Bonnie to finish the spell on John to bring back Elena as a human—Damon appeared awhile ago, taking notice of Auroras snapped neck, immediately getting angrier than he already was about Stefan sacrificing himself.

Elijah, Alaric and Aurora heard footsteps coming from the house, Damon and Bonnie exit without glancing at any of them.

They all follow, "It's time." Elijah informed the group.

Aurora the most nervous of all of them, she was the only one who didn't know exactly what she wanted.

"Alright. I got the weapons in the car." Alaric informed.

"Bonnie's the only weapon we need." Elijah and Aurora walked out the doorway.

Alaric followed behind them but when he tried to exit the house, he found that an invisible barrier was blocking him in. "Bonnie! What is this?"

Bonnie stopped to look back at him. "I can't put anyone else at risk."

"I can't stay here with Jenna out there!"

"I'm sorry." Bonnie apologized, but she didn't seem very sorry.

"You can't do this! Damon?"

"Sorry, buddy. She's right." Damon, Bonnie, Aurora and Elijah start to walk away.

The circle of fire disappeared from around Elena. Elena looked up at him as Klaus extended his hand toward her.

Elena got up from the ground and walked past Klaus, ignoring him. Elena made her way to the altar and looked down at Jenna's body. Klaus followed her up to the altar and grabbed Elena's face in his hand.

Below them, Stefan struggled to get up from the ground. Klaus turned Elena's face so she was looking at him. "Thank you, Elena."

"Go to hell." Stefan continued to struggle up, but fell back to the ground, too weak to move. Elena stared out, blankly, as Klaus sunk his fangs into her neck and started to drain Elena of her blood.

Stefan watched on, helplessly. Klaus held Elena tightly as his eyes starts to sprout more veins. Elena's eyelids flutter and her eyes roll into the back of her head and she died.

Klaus released her and Elena fell to the ground. Blood dripped from Klaus' mouth and the flame in the bowl is extinguished. Elena's body lays lifeless and Stefan stared at her, sadly, and lowers his head to the ground.

Klaus breathed heavily and walked down the stone steps. "I can feel it. It's happening."

Klaus looked up at the full moon. Suddenly, his bones began to crack as he started to transform. His eyes were yellow like a werewolf's, but he stil has the veins under them, like a vampire.

"Yes, yes!"

Suddenly, Klaus was thrown through the air. The flames in the bowl reignite, startling Greta. Greta heard and saw Bonnie coming down the hillside, chanting a spell. Before Greta can react, Damon snuck up behind her and snaps her neck. Damon kneeled down and picked up Elena's body.

"Phasmatos Infero Eseri Gratas, Disasustos Vom, Mas Pro Je Ta Sue Te. Victamas Veras. Phasmatos Tribum, Niha Sue Exilum, Disasustos Vom, Mas Pro Je Ta Sue Te. Levam, Mina Sue Te, Disasustos Vom, Mas Pro Je Ta Sue Te. Phasmatos Veras. Fes Matos Tribum, Mas Pro Tes Unum. Victas Ex Melam, Phasmatos Vanem. Mas Pro Je Ta Sue Te."

"No! You were dead!" Bonnie continued to chant her spell. Klaus' body contorted into painful shapes as he screamed.

Aurora tied to block out the pain filled screams, she knew she shouldn't be feeling what she was feeling, but the man she loved—or used to love was in pain.

It was taking everything in her to not speed to the Bennett witch and snap her neck.

Meanwhile, Damon carried Elena's body toward Stefan and placed her down next to him.

Stefan gently grabbed her arm. "Elena."

Aurora kneeled down and ripped the remainder of the stake out of Stefan's back. Stefan grunts in pain.

Damon grabbed Stefan's shoulder, as if to help him up, but Stefan turns and looked up at him, grabbing a hold of his jacket. "I need you to get her out of here!"

"What about you guys?" Damon asked, looking between his siblings.

"I'm not leaving until he's dead. Go!" Stefan yelled, as Aurora only nodded when Damon looked to her, words not escaping her mouth.

Damon picked up Elena's body and carried her away. Aurora helped Stefan sit up.

Bonnie continued to chant the spell which is so powerful it caused trees to fall. Klaus screamed in pain, lying against the rocks.

Elijah approached him and Bonnie stopped chanting. "Elijah?"

"Hello, brother."

Stefan has gotten up and walked up behind Bonnie with Aurora slowly following, cautiously watching the two brothers in-front of her.

Elijah punched his arm into Klaus' chest, grabbing a hold of his heart, causing a small gasp to fall from Auroras lips—Stefan didn't understand her reaction, but he grabbed her hand with a squeeze for support nonetheless.

"In the name of our family, Niklaus..." Elijah twisted Klaus' heart.

"I didn't bury them at sea!" Klaus yelled, causing Elijah to pause. But Klaus wasn't looking at his brother, his eyes were trained on Aurora.

"What?" Elijah asked in disbelief, as Auroras knees became weak. He's okay. Kol is okay. Her head pounded with relief—she will be able to see him again.

"Their bodies are safe. If you kill me, you'll never find them." Klaus looked back at his brother, after seeing the relief on Aurora's face, made him feel ten times better even with Elijah's hand still in his chest.

"Elijah! Don't listen to him." Stefan yelled, taking a small step closer.

"Elijah. I can take you to them. I give you my word...brother." Klaus promised, Elijah appeared to be having second thoughts about killing his brother—which Aurora knew, deep down inside her heart, she was jumping with joy for the newly turned hybrid.

"Do it and I'll take you both out." Bonnie threatened.

"You'll die."

"I don't care."

Elijah looked down at Klaus and back up at Bonnie and Stefan—before turning to Aurora, tears stained her cheeks, her eyes wide, relief was obvious in her posture, but she still feared Elijah would do something he would regret.

She nodded, "I'm sorry." Elijah sped away with Klaus after getting confirmation from Aurora it was okay. He knew she still cared.

That kind of love never dies.
