ALWAYS AND FOREVER
Versailles, France 1868
Blood.
That was Aurora's every waking thought.
Her throat burned, her skin crawled, her gums throbbing. She couldn't go one second without her craving.
She had travelled city to city. Country to country. Aurora never found a home, she worried about being caught or killed if people found out was she was.
It's not like she chose to be like this, her brother made that choice for her. Sure, she wanted immortality but she never signed up for the cravings and all the pain she causes along the way.
After leaving Mystic Falls she vowed to herself she would never go back. Yes, it was the place of her childhood, her home. Her brothers home. But it didn't feel like home anymore. not after what happened.
Especially now that her brothers hated each other or Damon promising Stefan an eternity of misery. Which Aurora thought was a bit dramatic but she didn't want to get in the middle, knowing they would make her choose a side.
The past few years she followed her brothers wherever they went. She left with Stefan first, giving Damon time to cool off and giving Stefan support.
But her and Stefan had a problem with bloodlust.
They were rippers.
And spending time together only made it worse. It was almost as if their cravings mixed, making it even harder to control.
Whenever she visited Damon, it was better. She didn't want him to know about her lack of control, when she was with him it was okay, but still not good.
A fair amount of times she would sneak away, in need of releasing control before putting on a facade for her brother.
Then, she left. Aurora wanted to be alone. She's never gone off on her own before.
She travelled around Europe before stopping in France. She loved France, it was probably her favourite. The fashion, the food, the culture, the environment, everything about it.
But she ruined it.
She was ripper, she couldn't help it.
Aurora was feeding, she was tearing her victims apart. She had already chewed through half the village.
She was on the last person, everyone in the village was dead, ripped apart- as if an animal went completely savage.
She finished feeding, the Frenchman's head fell off, his throat completely torn.
Aurora tilted her head up, enjoying the way the blood of her victims made her feel.
She revelled in it.
"What do we have here?" Came a British accent a few feet behind her.
Aurora froze, before speeding at the man, holding him against a tree, snarling in his face.
"Now, now. No need for dramatics." The man said, his chocolate brown eyes shining in amusement.
Aurora tried to thrust her hand into his chest but the British man twisted her arm, pulling her back against his chest- letting his vampire face show.
"You're a vampire?" Aurora stated, but it was more of a question.
She tried getting out of his hold, but she couldn't. The man was strong, really strong.
"Well, if it wasn't obvious, darling," The man laughed quietly, "Then, yes. I'm a vampire."
Aurora rolled her eyes, she elbowed him in the chest, hard enough for her to get out of his arms. She sped a few feet away, now facing the man.
"Who are you?" She questioned.
The man tilted his head sideways, eyeing Aurora. The blood on her face and all over her clothes was one thing but the bodies that were ripped apart around them confirmed his suspicions, causing him to smirk.
"You're a ripper." He stated, almost fascinated.
Aurora narrowed her eyes, "What's it to you?"
The man chuckled, rubbing a hand over his smooth jaw, "Oh, nothing, darling. It's just- we are the same."
"I don't even know you."
"I think we could be great friends," He stated, holding a hand out for her to take, "Maybe more." He winked.
Aurora scoffed, "As if. I don't know you." She said, not taking his hand.
The British man smirked, "Well, we can get to know each other," He leaned in closer, "Physically." He whispered- inches away from her face.
When Aurora didn't answer, he continued, "How about, we go get a bite to eat." He said, holding out his hand again.
"I just ate." She retorted, waving her hand- showing all the ripped up body parts that surrounded them.
He walked closer, "A vampires appetite is never truly fur filled," He corrected, "So, how about dessert?"
Aurora smirked, taking his hand, "Aurora Salvatore." She introduced herself.
He smirked back, kissing the back of her hand, "Kol Mikaelson."
And that was the start of a beautiful and dangerous friendship.
One that would later introduce Aurora into something she knew she would regret later.

AUTHORS NOTE:
Just a reminder, this book is not an AU.
It follows the plot of the Vampire Diaries. I wanted to add this to add some background to Auroras character in her early Vampire days, and I thought her meeting Kol first would be interesting.
Side note: this is not a Kol fic. It is Klaus, just to make sure
