Chapter 16
Divorce
Chapter 16
Kevin hung his head, his face riddled with guilt. âMr. Sinclair, weâre still investigating. But we couldnât find Ms. Lewis from the surveillance after she left the villa. Itâs hard to track her. We havenât pinpointed her exact location yerâ
âKeep searchingTMâ
After Kevin left, Kenneth became increasingly agitated and couldnât even focus on the documents in his hand.
It was past midnight when Angela returned to the villa at Northpoint.
She could barely hold herself upright when she opened the door. As soon as she stepped inside, she could no longer stand straight and slumped to the floor.
Suddenly, someone held her waist from behind. Angela tried to open her eyes to see who it was, but her eyelids were too heavy to lift.
Before she completely lost consciousness, she heard a barely audible sigh.
Waking up again, Angela found her wounds had already been bandaged. She struggled to sit up, draped a robe over herself and forced herself to
walk out.
She broke into a sweat before she could even reach downstairs
Hearing noises from the kitchen, Angela was about to

He was surprised upon seeing Angela and hastily put down the stew, hurrying over to support her. âThe doctor said you need to rest
Before he could continue, a dagger pressed against his throat.
âWhy are you here?â Angelaâs voice was cold, devoid of its usual warmth.
She had already suspicious.

Patrick paused for a moment, then looked at her, saying, âI left a script here and came to take it Thatâs when I saw you fall. After helping you up, I realized you were injured, so I called a doctor to bandage your wounds,â
Seeing Angela unconvinced, Patrick spoke with a hint of resignation. âIf I really wanted to harm you, do you think youâd still be alive right now!â
After a moment of silence, Angela finally lowered the dagger and looked at Patrick. âSorry, I misunderstood you.â
Patrick smiled, âNever mind, and donât worry. I wonât ask any questions. The doctor I found for you will also keep his mouth shut.â
âOkayâ
Seeing Angela finally at case, Patrick handed her the bowl of beef stew and said, âEat something first. Youâve lost a lot of blood. You need to eat.
âThank you,â Angela said softly before eating when suddenly the doorbell rang.
Patrick walked to the door. His eyes narrowed as he saw Kenneth outside, and he opened the door.
Mr. Sinclair, Angela is
Before he could finish, Kenneth pushed him aside, striding into the room.
Seeing Angela sitting at the dining table in her pajamas, eating beef stew, Kenneth asked coldly, âAngela, have you been fooling around with this pretty boy the entire time youâve been missing?â
Before Angela could respond, Patrick spoke up. âPlease donât misunderstand, Mr. Sinclair. Angela wasâ¦
His words were sharply cut off by Kenneth. âI wasnât talking to you! Angela isnât mare. She can speak for herself!â
Patrick looked displeased as he frowned, âYou are Angelaâs husband, yet you donât know what she has been through these daysâ¦â
âPatrick!â Angela stopped him.
She took a deep breath and looked at him calmly. âThank you for taking care of me. You should go back now, and Iâll treat you to dinner another
Patrick lowered his gaze with a sense of loss and nodded. âAlright, take good care of yourself,â

After grabbing his script, Patrick left.
Now that only Angela and Kenneth remained, an oppressive silence spread in the living room
Watching Angela eat the beef stew nonchalantly, Kenneth sneered. âDonât you think you owe me an explanation!â
Angela didnât respond. She stood up, walked over to the drawer near the TV, took out a card, and put it on the table. âThereâs 10 million dollars in this card. Letâs go finalize our divorce tomorrow,â she said indifferently.
âAngelalâ Kenneth glared at her, grabbed her wrist, and said collly, âWhat is going on between you and Patrick?â
Angela nearly stumbled from his grip. She looked up at him impatiently. âItâs exactly as you saw. Iâve prepared the 10 million dollars for you. Can we get a divorce now!â
pay you this 10 million dollars for spending these days with him! Patrickâs really generous, huh? You think
Kenneth neered, his eyes cold, âDid he pa youâre worth that much?â
Seeing his undisguised scorn and disdain, Angela frowned. âWhere the money comes
es from is none of your concern. Donât forget, you said give you this money, we would divorce!
Kenneth slammed the bank card on the table, staring into Angelaâs eyes. âYou whored to get this money. Maybe you donât think itâs diny,
Angela looked at him angrily.

âI set the rules, and I wonât take this money. Nor will I agree to a divorce!â
Watching the anger on his face, Angela couldnât help but sneer, âKenneth, Iâm surprised at how generous you are. You believe I had an affair with Patrick and still refuse to divorce. I must say, Iâm impressed!â
Kenneth looked at her with a stern Exce. âYou betrayed me. Why should I make it easy for you?â
âSuit yourself. Iâve already offered the money, and you are the one refusing it. If you disagree, Iâll just file for divorce
âGo ahead! Try it and see who dares to take your case!â
With that, Kenneth turned and left abruptly
After holding on for so long. Angela had reached her limit and collapsed onto the chair. Her abdomen started to bleed again.
In the following days, Angela stayed in the villa, healing her wounds, only returning to work when she felt better.
On her first day back at work, Frank started mocking Angela during a meeting.
âMs. Lewis, you disappeared for a few days after offending Mr. Wilson. I really wonder if you have any sense of responsibility as a CEO?
Angela sneered and slammed the documents onto the table, staring at Frank sternly, âIâd also like to ask you something. Mr. Black. You knew very well that Mr. Wilson is nothing but a pervert. Why did you still make me deal with him? What exactly were you thinking?â
Frank was caught off guard by Angelaâs straightforwardness. He gritted his teeth and retorted. âMr. Wilson is a major client of our company. A linde sacrifice is nothing if we can close the deal with him. Ms. Lewis, you canât even grasp the concept of sacrifice. How can we trust you to run the company?â
Angela didnât want to let Frank get his way and replied coldly. âSince youâre so keen on making sacrifices, why donât you go and sleep with your Peter! If you manage to make the deal, Iâll greatly reward your
Frank was seething with anger, his face livid. He slamned the table furiously and stormed out.
Angela seemed indifferent. âLetâs continue the meeting.â
After the meeting, Angela asked Garret to stay behind for a pr
a private word.
Garret felt a bit uneasy but managed to maintain a composed face. âMs. Lewis, is there something you need from me?â
Angela looked at Garret and smiled, âNothing serious, Mr. Taylor, just a friendly reminder to you not to pick the wrong side. Or you might end up with nothing.â

If he could simply be a good shareholder, that would be fine. But if he tried to stir up trouble behind the scenes, Angela wouldnât hesitate to kick
Hearing this, Garret temained smiling, âDonât worry, M

As Angela returned to the villa that evening, she saw Kenneth standing at the entrance,
She frowned, intending to ignore Kenneth and walk past him, but he suddenly grabbed her wrist.
