Chapter 18
Divorce
Chapter 18
Biting her lower lip, she said coldly. âArenât you afraid Jennifer will find it out?â
Kenneth looked at Angela. His face was sullen as he slowly said, âThatâs none of your concern. You just need to tell me whether you agree or
Angela took a deep breath and stepped back, glaring at him. âI refuse!â
Kenneth let out a scornful laugh. âSeems like youâre not so keen on divorcing at all
Angela calined down now. She looked at Kenneth indifferently. âI donât need to sacrifice anything to divorce. Youâll agree to itâ
Seeing the determination in her eyes, Kenneth felt agitated, snapping coldly. âGet out!â
Angela left, and only when she stepped out of the master bedroom did Kenneth look away:
Robertâs birthday arrived quickly, and he made a call to Paul early in the morning.
âMr. Sinclair is coming today, right?â Robert asked.
Although Kenneth was Angelaâs husband, everyone in the Lewis family took great care not to offend him. After all, many of the Lewis familyâs major collaborations were secured because of their relationship with Kenneth
If Kenneth came to Robertâs birthday party today, it would certainly be a feather in the cap
for the Lewis family.
Paul was having breakfast when he heard this. He responded. âDad, donât worry. Even if Angela canât bring Mr. Sinclair here, you can always count on Jennie, right?â
âYouâre right, I almost forgot about that. Okay, Iâll get going.â
After hanging up. Paul turned to Jennifer. âCould you give Mr. Sinclair a call? We need to make sure he will come to your Grandpaâs binhday party today.â
Jennifer felt that Paul and Robert were overly worried and couldnât help saying, âDad, no need to call him again. Since Kenneth has promised me,
he will surely come. Calling him again makes it seem like we want something from him!â
Paul thought about it and nodded. âRight, when Mr. Sinclair is here, remember to take him to meet your grandfather immediately.â
âGot it. I still need to get my hair done and buy a gown, Iâm going out now!
An hour later, at Lithoriaâs largest mall, Jennifer and Debra Jenkins chatted while they shopped. Debra was Jenniferâs best friend, who had recently returned from abroad.
âDebra, youâre planning to stay this time, right?â
Debra nodded, smiling. âIâve wrapped up my work back in Mireland. If everything is going well, I be settling down here in Lithoria.â
Jennifer looked at her with a teasing smile, âYouâre coming back to Lithoria for Henry, arenât you?*
Debra and Henry had dated before, but Debra chose to go abroad for her career and broke up with Henry. Over the years, Henry hadnât found a new girlfriend, and everyone knew he was waiting for Debra.
Debra blushed as she glanced at jennifer and said, âDonât be ridiculous. I just think Lithoria is closer to home, and I want to spend more time with my parents.
Seeing her shyness, Jennifer didnât tease her further and smiled. âHenryâs coming to my grandfatherâs birthday party tonight. I make sure you get a chance to be alone with himâ
Debra shook her head. âNo need. There are some misunderstandings between us that havenât been cleared up yet. Il handle it myselfâ
âAlright, but if you need any help, just let me know.â
âSure, oh, and thereâs something I wanted to tell you
Debra took out her phone, opened a video, and showed it to Jennifer. âI saw this at the Velvet Club the day I returned home. Iâve been hesitant to tell you!
The video showed Kenneth and Angela entangled together. Jenniferâs smile faded.

Chapter 18
Jennie, you might want to keep an eye on your twin sister. Who knows what sheâs been up to behind your back when youâre not here! Be careful She might steal Kenneth awayâ
Debra wasnât aware of Angela and Kennethyâs marriage. She always thought Jennifer and Kenneth were a couple, so her first thought was Angela was secretly seducing Kenneth behind Jenniferâs back.
Jennifer forced a smile and naively responded, âDebra, this video doesnât prove anything. Maybe Angela ran into some trouble at the bar, and Kenneth was just helping her out of respect for me.â
Debra couldnât help but shake her head. âJennie, you have no idea. That night at the bar, she was flirting with a gigolo, even feeding him fruit. That was crazy. Donât think sheâs innocent.â
After a few seconds of silence, Jennifer bit her lips and asked, âDebra, you said Angela was flirting with a gigolo. Do you have any proof?â
âI didnât catch it on camera, but the barâs surveillance must hav
Seeing Jennifer not responding. Debra suddenly suggested. âJennie, Iâve got a great idea!â
Jennifer looked at Debra, puzzled. âWhat is itâ
Debra whispered something into Jenniferâs ear. Looking a bit reluctant, Jennifer replied, âI donât think thatâs a good idea.â
âWhat part of it isnât good! Itâs settled then, donât worry, Iâve got this!â
âBULâ¦
Debra frowned impatiently and said with a hint of dissatisfaction, âNo buts. Trust me, Iâm right on this!â
Jennifer nodded and feigned resignation. âAlright then.â
As they continued shopping for clothes, Jennifer was scheming how to perfect Debraâs plan.
Wretched Angela, since you wonât step aside, I guess Iâll have to handle myself!â
Meanwhile, Angela had gone straight to the office that morning
When B
Brenda came to deliver some documents, she also handed over an invitation from the Lewis family.
The Lewis family has invited you to Robertâs birthday partyâ
Noticing Brendaâs teasing look, Angela responded indifferently. âLooks like youâre not busy enough
Brenda smiled and put the invitation on the table, âIâm just curious. How would the Lewis family react if they knew you were Anna, the founder of Empyria Group? Would they regret how they treated you before?â
Brenda had once witnessed Paul and Karenâs favoritism towards Jennifer at a banquet and had even felt sympathy for Angela for a while.
Later, after Brendaâs family went bankrupt, she came to Empyria Group for an interview. Seeing Angela sitting at the center of the interview panel with a CEOâs nameplate in front of her, Brenda suddenly felt she should pity herself more.
Angela glanced at her. âYouâre thinking too much.â
âSweetheart, why donât you come with me to the party! Ill publicly announce your status as the CEO of Empyria Group. The Lewis familyâs reactions..especially your bitchy sister, will be priceless!
âNot interested. Iâm going to the party with Kenneth tonight.â
Brendaâs eyes widened in shock. âArenât you two getting a divorce! How come youâre still going to the party together?â
Upon hearing this, Angela frowned in irritation, and her voice deepened, âSomething came up. We havenât divorced yet.â
Brenda looked at her and hesitated, slowly asking, âYouâre not having second thoughts about the divorce, right?â
Angela was about to respond when her phone on the table suddenly rang
Seeing it was
it was Nicole Dawson, Jovelle Fashionâs store manager, Angela was confused
As soon as she answered. Nicoleâs anxious voice came through. âMs. Lewis, the new staff member accidentally displayed the Heartfall you made in the store. Now a customer is interested and is offering to pay double the price to buy it.â
