Divorce
Chapter 19
Angela frowned, âDidnât you tell them that Heartfall is not for sale!â
as the gown she had designed as a birthday present for Brenda. But she had been too busy lately to pick it up.
Heartfall was
âI did, but the client is Debra from the Jenkins family. She insisted on buying Heartfall, even claiming she could pay ten times the price. I was worried about offending the Jenkins family, an I wasnât sure what to do.â
Angela paused for a moment and calmly said. âTell her she can choose any other dress from our store for free, except for Heartfall.â
âOkay, I know what to do now
Ending the call, Nicole approached Jennifer and Debra with an apologetic look. âMs. Jenkins, Iâm so sorry, but the owner has refused to sell Heartfall. As an apology, please feel free to choose any other gown from our store, and itâll be on us
Debra was a bit swayed after bearing this. The dresses from Jovelle Fashion were creative in design, and each was priced at least 200 thousand dollars. Before seeing the Heartfall, she had her eyes on several others.
Debra glanced over the dresses sheâd been interested in before. Although they were beautiful, they seemed interior to Heartfall
Just by looking at Heartfall, Debra could imagine how stunning sheâd look wearing it at a banquet.
Debra fell silent for a moment, then looked at Nicole with annoyance, âIf a dress is on display, it should be available for customers. Otherwise, whatâs the point! Who would want to shop here if someone likes a dress and you suddenly claim itâs not for sale!
âI have to say your clothes are great, but itâs not like you are the only option in Lithoria
Nicole managed to smile, but inside, she was growing impatient with Debraâs aggressive attitude.
âMs. Jenkins, this dress is truly not for sale. Perhaps you could consider looking at our other selections?â
Debra scoffed, her eyes filled with anger, âWhat if I insist on this dress!â
Nicoleâs smile faded, saying. âMs. Jenkins, no matter what, this dress is not for sale, I have other things to do. Please take your time choosing another dress. Just inform the staff when you have your eyes on it. Excuse me
With that. Nicole turned and left.
Debra was fuming with rage. She glared at Nicoleâs retreating figure. âYou stop right there! Or Iâll never shop here again. Iâll even rally all my friends in boycott Jovelle Fashion! I mean what I say?ââ
Nicoleâs face turned cold. She turned back and looked at Debra sternly. âMs. Jenkins, Iâve already explained that this dress is not for sale. It was mistakenly displayed. And Tve offered that you can choose any other dress in the store, and itâs on us,
âBut youâve been persistently unreasonable, and now youâre even threatening to boycott Jovelle Fashion. We are not looking for trouble and are not afraid of it either. Do as you please!â
Debraâs face instantly turned even grimmer when she heard this just as she was about to speak, Jennifer grabbed her.
âMs. Dawson, please donât be upset. Debra is just overreacting because she loves this dress so much. Lapologize on her behalf.â
Debra frowned and was about to speak, but Jennifer stopped her with a look.
ast excuse myself.
Nicole spoke calmly. âNo need for apologies. It was our fault. Ms. Lewis, please take your time. I must excuse
After Nicole left, Debra was still displeased and turned to Jennifer. âJennie, why did you stop me? Sheâs just a manager, and yet she dares to be so arrogant in front of me
Jennifer was silent for a moment before speaking sofily. âDebra, youâve just retumed and might not realize the standing of Jovelle Fashion in Lithoria. Almost every highâsociety lady and socialite you know gets their gowns made at Jovelle Fashion. It wouldnât be wise for you to offending
them here.â
Debra snorted, âItâs just a clothing brand. Whatâs so special about it? I donât believe Jovelle Fashion is the only option. Even big international brands like Diccor and Courmen wouldnât dare to be so arrogant
Jennifer didnât bother to explain much, smiling. âYouâll understand later. Letâs pick out the dresses first. Didnât you have your eye on several just
âBut compared to Heartfall, they seem to lack somethingâ
âHeartfall is not for sale. Weâll have to settle for the next best thingâ

Chapter 19
Meanwhile, Angela had just ended the phone call when Brenda looked at her, puzzled. âIs there something going on with Jovelle Fashionââ
Angela looked somewhat
at helpless. âThe dress I had designed and planned to give you for your birthday got put on display by a careless new staff. Now, someone likes it and wants to buy it.â
Brenda raised an eyebrow in curiosity. âWhat kind of dress is it? 1 have a banquet to attend tonight. Tell Nicole to bring it over, I can wear it to the
Event
âThereâs still half a month till your birthday. Letâs talk about it that day. Go back to work now. I need to review some documents too
Brenda tried to persuade Angela for a bit longer, but it didnât work, and she reluctantly went back to her work.
In the evening, just as Angela was about to leave, Kenneth called her.
Iâm downstairs at Empyria Group. When do you finish work?â
Kennethâs voice was cold, clearly still upset about last nightâs incident.
âAt five, in about fifteen minutes. If youâre in a hurry, I can come down nowâ
âNo need, Iâll wait for youâ
As soon as it was time to leave work, Angela put down her tasks and headed downstairs.
She stepped out of Empyria Group and saw a black Maybach parked at the roadside.
She approached the car, opened the door, and sat down, feeling chill.
Kenneth was focusing on the documents in his hands as he instructed the driver to start the car without looking up.
The two remained silent throughout the drive to Lewis Manor, Just as the car was about to stop, Angela turned to Kenneth and said, âIf anyone asks why I came in your car, just say it was on your way, and Jennifer asked you to pick me up
Kenneth frowned and looked at Angela, âAm I that disgraceful to be seen with?â
âWe have been secretly married for three years, and now weâre on the brink of divorce. Thereâs no need to let others know we were ever marriedâ Kenneth sneered with a mocking tone. âAre y
you afraid itâll ruin your chances of finding someone new!â
Angela was a bit surprised, but she spoke emotionlessly. Tim glad you understand.â
She turned to open the door and get out, but her wrist was suddenly grabbed and yanked back, causing her to fall into Kennethâs arms. Angela furrowed her brow and was about to push Kenneth away when he coldly said, âAngela, you really are testing my patience over and over again!â
Outside the car, the Lewis family had heard Kenneth was here, and everyone came out to welcome him.
Robert was standing at the forefront, smiling snugly.
The fact that Kenneth came to his birthday party today was a significant honor for him and the Lewis family, offering a perfect opportunity to put those scheming against the Lewis family in their place.
Karen was also full of pride. If it werenât for Jennifer, Kenneth wouldnât have come. It was all thanks to her raising such a wonderful daughter.
But as everyone waited a few minutes without Kenneth stepping out of the car, a sense of unease grew.
The guests had witnessed the grand reception by the Lewis family and came out to join, but now they started to murmur among themselves as Kenneth hadnât shown up.
âWhatâs going on? Is Mr. Sinclair not coming today?â
Tbet the Lewis family must have offended Mr. Sinclair somehow, so heâs deliberately staying in the cart
âBut they said that Mr. Sinclair likes Jennifer, right! Even if the Lewis family upset him, couldnât Jennifer just sweetâtalk him! Maybe Jennifer had a fight with Mr. Sinclair, and now heâs waiting for her to personally ask him to get out of the car!â
The inurmurs of the crowd reached the ears of the Lewis family. Robert couldnât help but look at Jennifer.
âJeanie, why donât you invite Mr. Sinclair to come out of the car?â
