Chapter 30
Divorce
Chapter 30
Angela was momentarily stunned with her lips p
pressed tightly together, but she didnât bring up divorce.
What just happened spoiled their appetite, so they went straight back to the villa
Upon entering the living room, Angela turned to Kenneth and said, âWould you like some spaghetti?â
Let me help you.â
âNo need. It will be ready in a minute,â
The fridge was regularly stocked with fresh ingredients by the maid. Angela took some onions, broccoli, chicken breasts, and spaghetti and headed to the kitchen
She first processed the chicken, cooked the sauce, and placed it on a plate. Then, she boiled water for the spaghetti
While the spaghetti was cooking, she also boiled some broccoli. When everything was nearly done, the spaghetti was almost ready as wel
She efficiently drained the spaghetti, then topped it with the suice, grated cheese, and broccoli. Two plates of spagheni were ready.
She brought the dishes out of the kitchen but didnât see Kenneth.
She headed towards the study and heard Kennethâs cold voice at the door. âKeep this matter under wraps for now. Donât let anyone knowâ
After hanging up the phone, Kenneth turned around and saw Angela standing at the doorway.
Angela said. The spaghetti is ready. Come have some
Kenneth put away his phone and followed Angela into the dining room.
They sat facing each other. Angela looked down and silently started eating her spaghetti
Kenneth asked, âDonât you have anything you want to ask me!â
Angela paused and said to Kenneth, âIf you want to tell me, youâll do so, even if I donât ask. And if you donât, my asking wonât make a difference.â
âYou can ask me. Iâll tell you everything I can.
Looking into Kennethâs serious eyes, Angela was silent for a few seconds, then spoke calmly. âLetâs eat first. The spaghetti wonât taste good once it gels cold.
After finishing it, Angela stood up, and Kenneth immediately took the plates from her hands. Tl wash these,â
Angela didnât refuse, she handed over the plates and went upstairs to her bedroom
The next morning, Angela went to the office carly. By the time Brenda came to see her, Angela had already finished reading the backlog documents.
Brenda said, âMs. Lewis, we have an appointment with the Sinclair Group at ten oâclock this morning
Angela pressed her lips together, and said to Brenda, Til leave this to you. No matter what offer the Sinclair Group proposes, just refuse.â Brenda looked sÃ¥rprised, thinking that Angela had planned to meet with Kenneth. Why the sudden change of mind:
However, Brenda didnât ask further and nodded. âAlright, I got it
âOkay, these documents are all signed. Take them with you.â
After Brenda left, Angela continued working until noon.

Just as she was about to go for lunch. Brenda returned. âMs. Lewis, you wonât believe what the Sinclair Group offered to buy Empyria Group. If I wasnât so deeply committed to Empyria Group. I might have been tempted to sellâ
Angela raised an eyebrow, thinking that if Brenda felt tempted, the Sinclair Group must have made a serious offer.
She asked, âHow mithâ
we landen dl million dollars, can you believe it?â

She asked. âDid you ask Kenneth?â
Brenda nodded. âYes, but he didnât say anythingâ
âI see. If anyone from the Sinclair Group comes again to discuss the acquisition, just refuse.â
âokayâ
On the way back to the Sinclair Group, Kevin couldnât help saying, âMr. Sinclair, our offer is already way beyond the market value of Empyris Group. I think acquiring it might be impossible.â
Kennethâs eyes were cold. After pondering, he spoke. âPrepare a file for me detailing the fashion companies under the Sinclair Group
He had planned to acquire the Empyria Group for Jennifer to practice her business skills. However, the people at Empyria were unwilling to budge, forcing him to look for other options.
âOf course, Mr. Sinclair.â
Time flew, and it was Saturday- the day Angela was supposed to retum to Lewis Manor for dinner.
She walked down the stairs after getting changed, and saw Kenneth on the sofa who was reading documents.
Hearing footsteps, he put away the documents and looked up at Angela,
She wore a fitted long dress, her delicate face untouched by makeup. Her long hair was tied up in a bun, making her look like a youthful college student, a stark contrast to the formally dressed Kenneth, appearing almost a decade younger.
Kenneth frowned slightly and removed the hair tie from her bun, letting her long hair fall over her shoulders.
Angela locked at him discontentedly. âWhat are you doing! Give me back my hair tier
Kenneth tossed the hair tie into the trash can, speaking with an indifferent tone. The bun doesnât suit you; you look better wearing your hair longâ
Angela felt speechless.
She thought. âWhy does he care about my look!
He said, âLetâs go, or weâll be late.â
Kenneth walked ahead Noticing Angela wasnât following he turned back and frowned, âWhy are you still standing there?
âDid my dad also tell you to come to Lewis Manor for dinner?
âYes, is there a problem?â
Angela was silent for a few seconds, then calmly said, âNothing, letâs guâ
Angela realized Paul had invited Kenneth behind her back, probably because he knew she wouldnât say no. But he did it anyway. It was clear that he didnât care about her opinion
An hour later, Kennethâs car stopped at the entrance of Lewis Manor.
Jennifer had been waiting at the door for Kenneth. When she saw Angela, she was still expressionless, completely ignoring her.
Jennifer said, âKenneth, weâve been waiting for you for a long time. Let me take you inside.â
Kenneth looked indifferent and said to Angela, âLetâs go.
Angela found Kennethâs behavior strange. She thought he clearly liked Jennifer, so why was he now acting as if he had no feelings for her?
But soon, Angela remembered the photos of Kenneth and Jennifer, and her expression turned gloomy,
They walked into Lewis Manor. As they entered the living room, Robert greeted them warmly. âMr. Sinclair, Angela, welcome, please have a seat?â
Seeing Robertâs cheerful smile, Angela looked away indifferently. She knew their invitation for dinner was just a pretext. Their real purpose was to meel with Kenneth
Angela didnât want to spend another minute with them, so she said to Kenneth, Iâm going to take a walk in the garden.â
Just as Angela sat down in the pavilion, Jennifer approached her
Jennifer said. âAngela, donât flatter yourself, Youâre just Kennethâs wife in name. He still loves me

âIs that so!â Angela raised an eyebrow with a hint of mockery. âBut just now, it seemed like he didnât even glance at you.â
Jennifer became angry, and then she said through gritted teeth. Thatâs because weâve been arguing recently, but weâll make up soon! By the way, do you still remember when the scandal about you hiring a gigolo got exposed on Grandpaâs birthday? Kenneth found out I was behind the thing but he didnât blame me and even helped me cover it up! So, even if youâre his wife, heâll always stand by my side!â
