Chapter 9
Divorce
Chapter 9
The people in the private room turned their heads, only to see Kennethâs icy gaze fixed on Angels with deep anger in his eyes.
Angela was surprised, not expecting to encounter Kenneth there.
After a moment, she indifferently looked away as if nothing had happened. Then she casually picked up the wine glass and took a sip
Seeing her ignore him, Kenneth, fuming, approached her in a few strides and grabbed her wrist, trying to drag her outside.
Her eyes turning cold, Brenda quickly blocked Kenneth and said icily, âMr. Sinclair, what are you doing?â
Kenneth looked at her with a cold expression and snapped, âGet out of my way!â
ef out a mocking laugh. âAngie is my friend. If you want to take my friend away, shouldnât you at least explain why, Mr. Sinclair?
expression was chilly, and his patience clearly exhausted. âIâll say it one last time. Get out of my way!â
As the standoff between the two continued, Angela knew Brenda would be at a disadvantage against Kenneth. She pressed her lips and said, âBren, Iâm fine. Iâll be back soon.â
Brenda looked at her worriedly. âAngleâ¦â
âDonât worry. He wonât do anything to me.â
As soon as Angela finished speaking, Kenneth pulled her towards the door. Angela stumbled, almost falling, causing Brenda to bristle with
anger.
She thought Angela
la was so foolish to have fallen for someone like Kenneth, who lacked any gentlemanly demeanor.
Once they reached the end of the corridor, Kenneth finally released Angelaâs hand and coldly asked, âAngela, do you know youâre already mamed? Yesterday, you were entangled with Patrick, and now youâre here flirting with a gigolo. Are you trying to make me a laughing stock?â
Angela rubbed her reddened wrist and said indifferently, âIf you keep stalling on signing the divorce papers, youâll be even more of a laughing
stock.
Kenneth sneered, âif you dare to get involved with any other men again, Iâll make sure you regret it.â
Angela smiled dismissively, looking at him indifferently, âIâd like to see how youâd make me regret it. By threatening me with the Lewis family? Donât forget your beloved Jennifer is also a member of the Lewis family. If you do something against the Lewis family, sheâll be upset. Will you be willing to see her unhappy?â
Kennethâs expression changed, not because Angela mentioned Jennifer, but because he realized that he had no way to make her stay if she really decided to leave.
instantly, a flicker of panic crossed Kennethâs heart, but it was quickly overwhelmed by raging anger.
He said, âIâve already explained to you. Thereâs nothing you should be upset about between Jennie and me! I have nothing to do with her.â Angela, visibly impatient, coldly said, âKenneth, you donât need to explain to me. I donât care about whatâs between you two. I just want to know when you plan on getting a divorce.â

Chapter 9
As Kenneth looked at Angelaâs indifferent expression, his irritation surged.
Every time they met, she talked about divorce. He had already humbled himself to explain to her, yet she didnât care at all.
The more he thought about it, the angrier Kenneth became. He grabbed Angelaâs chin and leaned in to kiss her, intent on silencing her, what caused him so much anger.
Angela, caught off guard by his action, froze in place as she felt the warmth on her lips.
The next second, she forcefully pushed him away and then quickly slapped him across the face.
The crisp sound of the slap echoed, making the atmosphere even worse.
Kenneth looked at Angela with a cold expression, enraged when he saw her wiping her mouth out of disgust.
He snapped, âAngela, donât you dare wipe your mouth again!â
Angela glanced coldly at him, expressionless. âIf you were forcefully kissed by someone you dislike, you might already be taking a shower
now.â
Kenneth felt a surge of anger, his gaze towards Angela full of strangeness and coldness.
Angela used to speak softly, never this sharply.
Kenneth wondered if she was really pushed to the edge or had always been like this but hidden it well before.
Angela checked the time, lacking the patience to talk with Kenneth. She said coldly, âI have work tomorrow. If you donât have anything else to say, Iâll leave now.â
She didnât look at Kennethâs expression and turned to leave.
âWait!â
Kenneth walked over, blocking Angelaâs way. âWhen did you find a job?â
âThatâs none of your business.â
Struggling to suppress his anger, Kenneth said through gritted teeth, âDonât forget, weâre married.â
Angela looked indifferent. âIt will end soon.â
âAngela, donât push me.â
Seeing Kennethâs restrained and angry look, Angela found it somewhat amusing. âYou can choose to divorce, then you wonât have to endure it anymore.â
âIâve said I wonât agree to a divorce!â
âThen endure it!â

As the atmosphere between them grew highly charged, a gentle voice sounded nearby. âKenneth, Ms. Lewis, why donât you come inside?
Angela turned and saw Upton standing not far away. Her cold demeanor softened slightly.
Upton was one of Kennethâs best friends. When Kennethâs leg was injured, Upton often visited. Moreover, he had a gentle nature and sometimes chatted with Angela, so she had a favorable impression of him.
She smiled, âYou guys go ahead. I should leave.â
Kenneth didnât stop Angela because Upton was there. He just watched her walk away before turning to Upton with a cold expression. âWhy did you come out?â
âI needed to use the restroom and saw you arguing with Ms. Lewis. I was worried it might escalate.â
After a brief silence, Upton continued, âKenneth, Ms. Lewis is actually quite good. During the two years your leg was injured, she was the one taking care of you. Even if you donât like her, at least be kind to her.â
Kennethâs eyes grew cold as he said deeply, âI know what I should do. I have other things to do tonight, so I wonât join you. Tell Henry and Owen to put it on my tab.â
After Kenneth left. Upton stood there for a while, smoking a cigarette before returning to the private room.
ter Kennethâs
thâs interruption, Angela and Brenda lost their mood to have fun and left the bar after paying the bill.
After requesting a ride for Brenda, Angela stood by the roadside, preparing to call a ride.
As she waited, she pondered about driving to work from tomorrow on.
Suddenly, a black Maybach stopped beside her.
Thinking it was her ordered cab, Angela got in without checking.
It was only when she smelled a familiar scent that she turned in surprise,
Seeing the person sitting beside her, she frowned and turned to try to get out of the car.
In the dim light, she hadnât noticed someone was already in the backseat when she got in.
Kenneth grabbed her wrist and coldly ordered the driver, âDrive to Vista Villa.â
As the driver started the car, Angela looked coldly at K
Kenneth. âCan you let go of my hand now?â
At that moment, regretting it, she secretly berated herself for being foolish. She thought if she hadnât been preoccupied with her own thoughts, she wouldnât have made such a stupid mistake.
Kenneth said, âTom, lock the car doors.â
With the doors all locked, Kenneth let go of Angelaâs hand.
Angela looked at him coldly and said as calmly as possible, âKenneth, I really have work tomorrow; I donât have time to play with you.â
Kenneth frowned and said coldly, âI drank just now. You need to take care of me tonight.â

Angela showed impatience. âYou can call Jennifer. Sheâd probably love to take care of you.â
She emphasized the words take care of and knew Kenneth would understand her meaning.
Kenneth sneered, âSeems youâve changed now. How magnanimous you are! Do you still remember youâre my wife, but not Jennifer?â
