Chapter 24

23. Irish Ruling Town

A Mob Boss's Dominance (Book 4-About Tristan)

Vienna was standing outside the hotel building waiting for Tristan to come down for them to make their way to the house of O'Kane. She walked around on the fresh snow liking the sound of untouched snow under her feet.

Trent was watching her as he was leaning to the bonnet of his father's car. Vienna was looking like a queen walking around as though she had the world at her feet. He didn't think she realised it yet that she was an Irish queen now. He sighed. Vienna was quite oblivious and unaware to all the attention that was going to be on her now.

Trent looked at his watch. Tristan had been held up for a while. He had been seeing their uncle Jackson and then was having a word with their father before setting off.

Vienna turned to Trent and asked "Should I go get a drink from the bar? Tristan may take a while."

Trent wanted to laugh. She was asking him what he thought. As if it mattered. This queen could do anything she wanted and yet she asked for permission. He nodded "Why not?"

Vienna smiled "Do you want me to get you anything to drink?"

Trent sighed. Sure. If anyone asked her to buy them a drink they were going to end up sixth feet under. Maybe Tristan was not going to kill him but he was going to smash the glass on his head if he ever ordered Vienna to do anything. How could Vienna not see that after so long? He shook his head "No. Thank you."

As Vienna walked past Trent she said "You are always so modest Trent."

Trent thought to himself "No. I just love to live."

Vienna walked inside and made her way to the bar. It was quiet inside. Of course her bodyguards followed her and gathered around her but no one else was there. She walked to the main bar and ordered a glass of orange juice. As she was waiting for her order, she heard footsteps from behind her. She turned around and saw Jonas walking in. She hadn't spoken to him much. He was polite. He was just a typical male but he was peculiar. He was neither a businessman and nor a normal guy. He was special. He was quite smart according to Tristan. She watched him smile and nod politely to her as he walked in. "Hi."

Vienna nodded "Hi." She then turned around and saw her order on the table.

Jonas walked slowly to her and stood beside her "Vienna. It is nice meeting you. We just were introduced briefly at the party. I just thought I come introduce myself properly."

Vienna wasn't used to talking to many boys recently. Everyone feared Tristan.

Vienna turned to him and voiced her curious question " Aren't you worried Tristan may get mad at you for talking to me? Even Niall, who is Tristan's other cousin doesn't talk to me much. He has a girlfriend though. But you don't seem to. Tristan gets mad at single boys who talk to me."

Jonas retorted "I like your honesty. But we are Irish. You are family to me. Don't ever assume I would ever betray family. You don't have to say sorry though. Your man may not mind me talking  to you but he will mind me make you apologise for accusing me of crimes indirectly that are quite insulting."

Vienna gasped "I didn't mean ..."

Jonas shook his head as he leaned to the counter "I said don't apologise. I think you are used to guys hitting on you. Well I don't blame them. You are very beautiful." He then reached his hand to hers and held it in his to her surprise. He then picked it up and planted a kiss on her hand. He then let go as he looked up "I am not after you Vienna. I am not. But I do admire you a lot. Tristan must get mad when single guys talk to you. Many will fight over you but many will fight for you too. Many will die for you. You are a Rosario woman. You are for sure a diamond but we Irish don't betray our kind. So there is no problem talking to you. I may not have a girl yet but it doesn't mean it's fine to accuse me of anything."

Vienna raised an eyebrow "So you don't have a girl?."

Jonas replied " No. Not at the moment."

Vienna asked "So you never had a crush on a girl? What about for the school dance events. It's compulsory to have partners at times."

Jonas spoke "I am mostly home schooled so I don't have to think about these things much. But when I do attend school every few weeks or on certain occasions I do get to taste it. Normally, I take one of my cousins with me when the girls I ask to the dance say no. That's what cousins and family are for. To bail you out when you need help. It's pretty hilarious if you ask me."

Vienna gasped. She couldn't believe he had difficulty getting dates. He was perfect in every way "But ... Aren't the girls afraid of your uncle when they say no to you? No one can refuse the O'Kanes anything."

Jonas smiled "Well. My uncle doesn't know of these things. I don't ask girls to dance publicly. I am not mad. I know what happens if my uncle feels insulted. I just want a dance. I don't want trouble for the families of girls who refuse to dance with me. They don't want to be dealing with criminals."

Vienna gasped "So you liked to dance with some people who are not one of us? They are not from any crime families?"

Jonas shook his head "All girls who go to my school have ties with criminals but they may not know it themselves. Their families are mostly shareholders in movie studios in Hollywood or multi million sports clubs if they are not criminals. Sancia Giovanni does business with Hollywood so most of the parents of the girls in my school have met Tristan's mother without realising who they are dealing with." He then chuckled to himself.

Vienna said "I am sorry some girls refused to dance with you. Why is that I wonder? You are quite a gentleman."

Jonas said "They don't want to associate with an O'Kane. Who blames them. We don't have mercy. We just don't." His eyes then hardened and stared into her eyes "Tell your cousin Austin to watch out by the way. He is pushing his luck."

Vienna froze "Austin. You know my uncle Angelo's son?"

Jonas nodded "Yes I do as a matter of fact. He is quite active. His mother works at the American embassy in Italy. Diplomats and their families do get invited to places. His senator grandfather also takes him around the United States a lot. I was introduced to him at a charity dinner ages ago. We attend parties as routine to find clients for our law firms. His grandpa has law firms too. We gave out business cards when we met. I do meet him a lot in some events actually. But he needs to be careful of the company he keeps. He is making friends with the law makers and criminals. It's a good tactic. But he needs to choose a side at some point. If he is ever caught betraying one side he would get burnt. Let's hope he betrays the law side because then his senator grandpa will bail him out. But if he betrays us and gives out secrets of criminals he will be done for and so is his family."

Vienna felt cold. She shook her head "He won't do that. He knows to be careful. He knows he can't deceive criminals."

Jonas said "I once caught him. He eavesdropped on a meeting. I was the one to catch him luckily. I could pass him on to my uncle but I didn't because  of you actually. I knew Tristan is dating you and doesn't want an Irish bullet to kill your cousin. I had a go at him. I know he is no spy. The problem is your family don't let him get involved in business and he wants to be involved. He go looking for quenching his curiosity elsewhere which is dangerous for him. When you shun him here from the criminal circle he gets attracted to strangers. He learnt his lesson. I made sure he did. But then I saw him changing his tactic by flirting with a girl who belonged to a criminal. He was not just flirting but was openly asking questions about their crime life. Again I got one of my cousins to help. Someone needs to talk to him properly. He wants to be a spy and he is terrible at it actually. It's good to get words out of women about their life of crime but if the woman is taken then flirting can get him killed. I am telling you and not Tristan because I think this is a Rosario issue. You must fix it on your end. The Irish can't pick up the pieces for the Italians. Austin can potentially live long and be successful if he keeps his distance from trouble. Girls call him adorable in the Irish side. Even though he is off limits because his grandfather is a senator on his mother's side and his mother is a former FBI agent he still gets a lot of attention. Some say it runs in the family that he is attractive. I don't know. I am a guy. How should I know. But he may end up six feet under if he is not shown some tough love at your end. I sorted him out how I could and risked my uncle's wrath. If my uncle finds out I have been saving Austin from trouble I am in big trouble. My uncle doesn't believe in second chances. To him Austin should die. He is charming enough to even get my cousins' attention on the O'Keefe side. They warmed up to him. I guess your family is lucky. They gave the charming trait. But the curiosity trait is not helping Austin live."

Vienna didn't ever see Austin as anyone who could cause trouble. He was so ordinary. But again everyone went on about how lombardis had charm. He had charm and wanted to use it. Maybe it was a genetic trait that pulled attention on oneself in their family. He was popular with the girls though quite on the same level as Viggo at times. But obviously he was using it in the wrong way. Vienna was speechless. She had no idea Austin was in trouble. She breathed "I am sorry about Austin. I will talk to him."

Jonas continued "Austin studies in Italy but will be doing some project work with this prestigious art school that my uncle Terrence, Tristan's father has just bought in New York."

Vienna gasped "I go there. I mean will go there from January onwards."

Jonas said "Good. If you see him, talk some sense into him. You can get help from Nicola Schroeder. She is from a German crime family and a friend of mine. She wants to be more than friends with me but it won't happen. So we are staying just friends. You can trust her to help you if you need anything."

Vienna asked "How come she is your friend? I thought girls rejected you."

Jonas smiled "Sure. But I do reject girls too when they come onto me. I am into certain type of girls."

Vienna asked "What type of girls?"

Jonas sighed "You will see on my wedding day one day." He then winked "I should go and so should you. I think you must make your way to Tristan. You are riding with him and surely it would make him happy if you went up to greet him before he is ready. I heard he likes you to fix his tie for him always."

Vienna asked "He told you that?"

Jonas said "Yes he did. Anything you do for him he likes except for when you don't abide by his rules." He then looked away to the door "Let's go. It would put him in a good mood if you do go up there now. He had a long day today and had a long meeting with my uncle too."

Vienna nodded "Ok." She then finished her drink and followed Jonas. She found him mysterious. He didn't give much away. He seemed to be the type to keep to himself. But he did share some information with him that she didn't expect at all. Why did he care for Austin? Why did he tell her about him? He said his uncle could get mad. But again he said he cared for Tristan and her.

Jonas said " Here is his room." He knocked on the door "Its me."

Tristan ordered "Come in."

Jonas opened the door for her and Vienna walked inside. Tristan was standing in front of the mirror with his wet hair. He seemed to have just left the shower. He was buttoning up his shirt as he noticed Vienna. He turned around quickly and smiled brightly. He was so happy to see Vienna.

Jonas explained "I told her to come fix your tie since you like it." He then closed the door quick as he saw it coming that Tristan had just thrown an aftershave bottle at him. He wasn't fast enough and it did hit his head. His voice came from outside "Ow. That hurt."
