Chapter 57

56. Justice Coming (Bonus 13)

A Mob Boss's Dominance (Book 4-About Tristan)

Tristan knew something was wrong when one of his trusted men came to the rooftop to disturb him. It must have been something that could not wait. As he watched the man bowing his head with his hands crossing over each other waiting to be addressed he said "What is the urgency that you came to this rooftop while I am clearly in a meeting?"

The man didn't look up and said "Sir. I have news... about your uncle."

Tristan said "Look up and tell me what the news is about."

Vienna was watching silently and intently how the interaction went. The man must have been certain that whatever he disturbed Tristan for was worth his attention otherwise no one disturbed Tristan when he instructed his men to not disturb him.

The man hesitated and then looked up with his fear filled eyes "Sir. Can I be forward... in Lady Rosario's presence?"

Tristan looked at Vienna and then at the man "You may speak freely. I won't shoot you for talking bluntly and in detail. If there is news you can state it."

The man swallowed hard nervously and spoke "Sir. Your uncle has been reported to have abducted Mrs Anna Agostini..."

Vienna gasped "What?... That's insane... Tristan ..."

Tristan turned to Vienna "You can tell me later. Let me hear this out. Don't interrupt Vienna until I hear the whole report."

Vienna covered her mouth with her hands trying to remain calm.

Tristan then stood up as he kicked his chair behind.

As though the man wasn't nervous enough, Tristan added more fear to his soul. Tristan was known as a fair leader who believed in justice and didn't act on emotion. But this matter was a family matter and it was not good news. If the boss was going to strangle anyone for giving him bad news, this could be the first time and or last time too for all the man knew.

Tristan started walking towards the man "Let's rewind. You are saying that my uncle has done what exactly?"

The man looked down.

Tristan said "Look up. I won't shoot people for giving me bad news. You know that. But I shoot people for wasting my time and refusing to follow a simple instruction."

The man immediately looked up and pleaded "Sir please have mercy."

Tristan raised an eyebrow.

The man didn't even need words to understand the order. Tristan's eyes said "Speak Or I will kill you for wasting my time."

The man said "I am sorry sir. I wish I never have to give such bad news. But ... But... Your uncle has abducted Anna Agostini who is now being held against their wish. We have tracked down the movement of the agents involved and have gathered up in custody the families of those who were involved in the abduction.... We are waiting for your orders. Do we ambush the building? This goes against the moral code. Abduction of a married woman with the intention to possibly ..."

Vienna said horrified "To impregnate her. It has to be. Aunt Anna said Jackson O'Kane always wanted a baby and nothing else."

Tristan turned to Vienna "Vienna. Calm down. I told you not to interrupt until the report is fully delivered." He then turned to the man "Where were we? Tell me. When did this happen? This abduction? Pull yourself together. Will you?"

The man closed his eyes and then opened them trying hard to compose himself. He said carefully "Sir. It happened in the early hours of the morning. Around five hours ago approximately."

Tristan said " What's the status of the surroundings."

The man replied quickly "Civilians, military, FBI agents. The area is packed with unwelcome subjects Sir."

Tristan asked "Is that so? Interesting. No wonder you didn't ambush the building without my orders." He asked "Where is this place?"

The man quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out a map that was carefully folded "The areas are marked here Sir. May I show you?"

"I will take a look for myself." Tristan took the map from his hand and opened it. He looked at the marked area. He made a whistle "It will be a blood bath unless they give up and surrender. There is no way around this. Who are these agents who are inside the building. Do they work for me?"

The man shook his head "No Sir. They don't work for you. None could be identified. They could be your uncles trusted men who are not known to us."

Tristan said "Evacuate the area. A gas leak causing an explosion in a nearby abandoned warehouse. The closest security forces respond to such explosion especially when the roads are blocked. So make sure no emergency services can get anywhere near. Ensure the explosion happens. Send our men to tell civilians to evacuate. Once the military and FBI go to the site of explosion, maybe more explosions can happen. That's when we strike. I am going there personally. They can surrender or die."

The man gasped "But Sir. Your life... It's our duty... This is out in the open. It's too risky..."

Tristan said "I lead my men. I don't hide behind my men. I protect my men. I fight with my men."

The man looked down "Sir. Forgive me please ..."

Tristan said "Before I dismiss you, tell me what is the status of the search parties who could potentially be coming. Where is Arturo Agostini?"

The man said "Sir, they entered the United States just as we speak. They were on a trip in Central America. They arrived in New York. Our agents are trying to keep track. We can update you as they leave the airport."

Tristan said "You are dismissed. Make arrangements. Await my further instructions in the next fifteen minutes when I come down. Take this map with you. I saw what I needed." He then handed the map back to the man.

As the man left, Tristan turned to Vienna who ran into his embrace "I hate your uncle. He is a monster. How can this happen? My aunt could be suffering right this minute."

Tristan said "She will be safe." He held her tightly "Calm down Vienna. You can't possibly say you didn't see this coming. Are you actually surprised?"

Vienna looked up at Tristan "What do you mean?"

Tristan said calmly "We just discussed my uncle and your aunt. My uncle has nothing to lose. He is free. Why wouldn't he commit such act. I just didn't think he will go on a suicide mission. I expected him to do something about his feelings for your aunt Anna. But I didn't expect this here on American soil. He could try to kill your uncle Arturo first. But it seems like he wants to lure him out to kill him here. If your uncle Arturo dies my uncle Jackson will die happy. If he can't have your aunt no one can. That seems to be his plan. I guess he must have seen an opportunity and has taken it. Too bad he is caught."

Vienna couldn't believe how calm Tristan was talking so indifferently, emotionless and calmly "How can you be so sure? He is not caught yet. He may get away and he may take my aunt with him."

Tristan said "He can't go far even if he tries to flee. But something tells me he won't. Why would he. He wants Arturo Agostini. By the sounds of it your uncle Arturo must have found out the minute this happened and made his way. My uncle will grab the opportunity to try to kill him.... He may succeed or not."

Vienna asked "And then he dies. How pointless? Why is he trying to ruin my aunt's life?"

Tristan said "Well. He won't die necessarily. If your aunt protects him by let's say agreeing to marry him then my uncle won't die. If your aunt testified against him then he will be facing your a big force he can't handle."

Vienna said "Your uncle won't survive. There is no way my aunt Anna will protect him."

Tristan said "Are you sure about that? How much do you know your aunt Anna? I am not saying she will but there is a chance she might. Right this minute if your aunt confesses to consensual relations with him then it throws a case out. Then my uncle hasn't declared war."

Vienna said "Impossible. My aunt doesn't love him."

Tristan said "I can't judge. I don't know the facts. If my uncle Jackson is guilty which I bet he is, then he will face the consequences of starting a war. No one can just go around and abduct Anna Agostini Unless they are mental. Your uncle Arturo may go on a killing spree in the city unless he starts by destroying our assets. Then we have to retaliate. It's strictly business."

Vienna said "Your uncle will face what consequences if you find him guilty? What are you going to do?Will you ... kill him?"

Tristan said "I will carry out justice Vienna. I will put him on trial. He can't go declare war on other families like this. Your uncle Arturo comes with ties to the Voltolini family. He comes with ties to your father and his friendship goes way back with my father. I know my father is not your uncle Arturo's favourite person but they are friends. Even if it's an unwelcome friendship. So this is an attack on the most senior leader of the house of O'Kane. You heard me. My father is the eldest male heir of what's left of my grandmother's line who was from the first wife. So the question you should be asking is what is my father going to do. He doesn't want to lead this organisation. He hates the word O'Kane. Last night they did not even get chance to get him to consider becoming the senior leader here. He didn't want to know. He wasn't interested. He was hurt by how his mother's family weren't kind to his father. Well they were not kind to anybody really... So as you can see I have to be here. I have gotten to know these people. They have served the family through generations. The O'Kanes came with the Mayflower and have some history here. I can't abandon them because my father doesn't want anything to do with them. Someone has to do this job. I take his place but it's because he didn't want it. Apparently my grandfather had been trying to persuade him to make peace and even work with my uncle Jackson. He never wanted it. But my men will bow to him. It's their duty. If he even orders them to kill me, they will."

Vienna gasped "What? But you are their leader."

Tristan chuckled "Well. They can't say no to him. My father can come and force this family to self destruct if he wanted it badly. He spent years defying the okanes and then learnt, his father only was one to shield him from becoming what he despised by delaying the inevitable. So all this effort could be saved. He can just come in and self destruct it. He doesn't agree with the morals of this organisation. It can be changed but it takes years. I don't walk way from a challenge

Vienna said "I had no idea. This is too complicated... Vincenzo is a Rosario heir. He has one focus. You belong to the O'Neil's, Giovannis and the O'Kanes. You have a leadership challenge and conflicts of interest."

Tristan said "I agree. That's why I must stop my uncle over complicating all of this for me even more."

Vienna said "Can you catch your uncle Jackson? What if you get hurt?"

Tristan said "I can catch him easily but ... dead... Catching him alive requires hard work."

Vienna said "I am scared. I need to call my father."

Tristan said "I will call my father Vienna. He can advise me on how to negotiate with your father and Arturo Agostini. I don't wish for anyone to get involved when it's not necessary. I have to do this alone."

Vienna asked "Why?"

Tristan said "This is not an ordinary matter Vienna. It's a family matter. It has to be resolved my way. Besides the building is in an area controlled by the Irish. I don't want Italians coming in. Locals may testify against them but they won't testify against the Irish. I can diffuse the situation if reporters get close and police can be kept away in ways I know how. This is a public place. My uncle knows what he is doing."

Vienna said "Aren't you going to let my father help you? Really?"

Tristan said "Vienna. He would like my uncle to be caught. That's what I will do. Vienna there is no point overcrowding the place. Didn't you hear me? I am blocking the roads. I am evacuating the place. The attack will only last minutes before the military reacts by sending the Air Force. Helicopters will be all over the place soon after. The actions I will take won't take long Vienna. I will drop you off to stay with my mother at my house. You will be safe there."

Vienna said "I want to come with you. It's my aunt who is trapped, Tristan..."

Tristan said "Your Father won't like that. Besides you interfere and interrupt. I can't have that in the middle of the combat zone.... I have to go make the phone call Vienna. To my father. Knowing him he already knows. He always knows everything."
