Chapter 25

Ocean View

The Billionaire of New York City

Sitting there at his desk, typing madly away at his computer was Elijah. But funnily enough, he was not the first person I noticed in the room. It was the girl, whose breasts were ready to pop out of her blouse at any moment, that was standing oddly close to him. She seemed to be leaning into him but he paid no mind, thankfully.

I could see the outline of her push up bra, which seemed to be doing its job, from the tightness of her mid-thigh black dress. Her thin, straight blonde hair was done up in a ponytail. She had dark red colored reading glasses on that seemed to be just for show.

Elijah's brown eyes flickered up and rested on me. He didn't even acknowledge Mr. Mason. The sides of my lips twitched into a small smile, I missed him so much. Elijah abruptly stood up, clasping his hands together. "Sawyer, Kyla!"

The girl jumped back and straightened out her back.

Mr. Mason was the first to make a move. He made his way over to Elijah who had moved to the front of his desk and gave him a hug. "Good to see you, man."

Elijah nodded and turned towards me, opening his arms. I smiled at him and wrapped my small arms around his muscular body. His familiar scent engulfed me in a daze that I seemed to hug him too long. I pulled back awkwardly. "Hey, Elijah."

"How's L.A. treatin' ya?" Mr. Mason asked.

"It's not too bad, I miss New York weather though. Oh- almost forgot." Elijah walked over to the girl and nudged her to come forth. "This is my personal assistant, Audrina."

She flashed her pearly whites at Sawyer, "Hi, Sawyer, was it?"

A smirk danced at Sawyer's lips. "Yes, ma'am."

Audrina faced towards me, her smile was gone and instead an almost scowl was apparent. "And you are?"

"Kyla." I forced a smile.

As Elijah talked with Sawyer about the business, I finally took in Elijah. He was dressed in a dark grey suit, black tie, and white undershirt. Of course, with anything he wears, it fit his body perfectly. On his left wrist, he was adorned with a silver Rolex watch. It was dazzled in diamonds and had a black face. Even at a moments glance, people would know he had money and lots of it.

"Uh, I didn't have any time to make hotel reservations for Kyla and I and I'm betting hotels around here are all filled up. Do you know of any hotels that might be available?"

Elijah waved his hand. "Oh, no you guys are welcome to stay with me."

"Are you sure? We don't want to be a burden?" Sawyer protested.

"I have a fucking penthouse man, four bedrooms and four bathrooms. You guys can stay."

"Bu-"

Elijah raised his hand in Sawyer's face. "Shut up, no more buts. You guys are staying."

I forced in a laugh. Sawyer swatted his hand away with a smile. "Alright man."

"You guys hungry?" Elijah asked.

"I am, are you?" Mr. Mason turned towards me.

I nodded. "Oh yeah, I definitely could use something to eat."

Audrina stepped forward. "There's a cafe just down the block, they have tasty food."

"Well," Mr. Mason said. "That sounds great, shall we go then?"

___

The California sun rays peeked their way between the rose-colored curtains of the cafe. The waiters and waitresses maneuvered between the many tables. It was a busy day. Elijah and Audrina sat on one side of the table and Mr. Mason and I sat on the other side. Our table was against the wall, if the curtains were open we would be able to see the bustling activity of downtown L.A.

"All of this sounds delicious," I commented as my eyes scanned the many food items. My mouth slightly watered just thinking of eating some of these items. Steak wrap, pasta, shrimp, Caprese Salad!? I just wanted to order everything. Don't even get me started on their dessert options, jesus christ.

"Can't disagree with that," Elijah said. I looked up just in time, his tongue swiped across his lower lip.

I heated up at the sight and quickly tore my eyes away from him and looked back at the menu.

"I personally love the Chef's Wrap, I always get it when I eat here." Aurdina laid her menu down and rested her hands on her propped arm.

"Now that sounds delicious, I think I'll be getting that too," Mr. Mason said with a smile as he met Audrina's gaze.

I rose my eyebrows at them but shook it off as nothing.

I ended up ordering the Turkey Melt and Elijah got a double cheeseburger. Minutes passed and Elijah caught us up on work here. Nothing truly interested me during the conversation except for the side eye Audrina kept giving Mr. Mason.

The hot food was set in front of us and my mouth instantly began to water again. We all dug in, barely talking at all. The food that good. As we neared finishing our plates, Mr. Mason and Audrina spiked up a conversation.

I wiped my mouth with a napkin and pushed the plate away from me, I was completely full. I looked up at Elijah and noticed a lone drip of grease that coated a part of his lower lip.

"You got something there," I joked, gesturing to his lip.

"Oh," Elijah smirked and swiped the excess grease off with his tongue before effortlessly winking at me.

I felt my face heat and I quickly looked away. I heard him slightly chuckle which made me heat up even more.

We ventured back to Elijah's office and hung out for an hour as we waited for him to finish up his work. Mr. Mason and I were left alone in the waiting room and Audrina had followed Elijah inside. A tinge of jealousy shot through me but I stored it away, it was her damn job after all.

"When we get to Elijah's place, I need to change my shirt and give this one back to you." I laughed, tugging the oversized tee.

Mr. Mason smiled. "You're welcome to keep for as long as you'd like. I have no need for it. If this keeps up," he said gesturing in the direction of Elijah, "We won't be making it to the beach tonight."

"Right," I snorted. "Maybe we should ask how much longer to see if you and I can go right now. He lives here anyways, it's not like he's missing out."

"Good idea." Mr. Mason stood up and stretched his arms. "Why don't you go ask, I gotta go to the bathroom."

Mr. Mason walked out of sight around the corner and I gently knocked on Elijah's office door.

I heard Elijah's voice, it was muffled quite a bit. "Go get that please."

The door cracked open, Audrina stood there, noticeably sticking out her chest. When she saw it was me she dropped her "normal" stance. "Oh, it's you." She didn't even have a hint of a smile on her face.

"Yeah... How much longer does Elijah have?"

"Let me check." She then shut the door in my face and I heard the click of her heels fade. Their muffled conversation continued for about two minutes before the clicking of her heels returned. She cracked open the door slightly, just enough so I could see at least half of her body.

"He said it'd be another two hours at the most."

I sighed, disappointed. I was hoping he'd be done sooner so he could join us at the beach. "Alright, let him know that Mr. Mason and I are going to do some adventuring ourselves and that will meet him at his place later tonight. Have him text Mr. Mason the address."

She had an unimpressed look towards me as she nodded.

Mr. Mason and I had wide eyes as we ventured down the boulevard. There were quite the people here, but I didn't mind. I loved it actually. We strolled down the beach, getting our feat kissed by the cold ocean water. Settling down on the beach, the warm, hot sand was calling my name. If this ain't heaven...

An hour had passed at the most but we decided to head towards Elijah's place. The taxi led us to a gated community where Mr. Mason got out and punched in the code. He hopped back inside and the taxi continued driving toward Elijah's.

"I thought Elijah lived in a penthouse, these are all normal houses," I muttered to Mr. Mason.

The taxi driver must've heard my- what I thought was quiet- voice. "There are two hotels in the community. See those high-rises?" He pointed his finger to buildings that looked further away than before.

"Oh yeah." Mr. Mason said.

"Well," the taxi driver continued, "They are not hotels per se, they are full of condos and penthouses. This community is a rich one."

"Apparently so," I mumbled, gawking at the shiny, expensive cars that were parked outside of three- four story mansions.

The taxi dropped us off at the taller of the two high-rises. Mr. Mason pressed in another code that let us into the building.

"What floor did he say he was on?" I asked.

"The 29th."

__

Mr. Mason punched in yet another code to the front door of Elijah's penthouse. The door lock beeped and he grabbed the steel handle and opened the door. His place was pretty big, but I wasn't that surprised, he did let us know that it did have four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

His place had tropical plants in every corner, added that homey feel to the overall modern look. I set my suitcase down and shook off my shoes.

"Hey, Kyla, come here." Mr. Mason shouted at me from around the corner. He had gone to the kitchen.

I jogged around the corner to see what he was doing. And there he was, standing in front of two, yes two, shelves that were from the floor to the ceiling and full of alcohol.

Well, tonight's going to be fun.
