Chapter 11-Getting to know Mr. Bad Ass

Loving The Bad Boy

Chapter 11- Getting to Know Mr. Bad Ass

-Emma-

“Emma.” A voice whispered.

“Emmaaa.” It continued. I rolled to the other side of the bed trying to get away from the annoying sounding person. I put a pillow over my head to block out any noise and the sunlight that was shining into the room.

“EMMA MARIE MILLER!” The voice yelled. Ugh, shut the hell up! The pillow was ripped away from my grasp and smacked right into my face continuously. “Emma, get the hell up! We have school!” I open my eyes to see the monster before me.

“Shut the hell up Amy, before I take that pillow and shove it.” I growled out as I sit up from the bed. I glanced at the mirror to see my hair which was in perfect curls last night was now sticking up all over the place. Did I get attacked by a bird last night? I ran my fingers through my hair to get out all the tangles and tied it in a messy bun on top of my head. “What time is it?”

“7:15 AM” Amy answered. 7:15? Does she know that school doesn’t start till freaking 8:30?

“You do know that school doesn’t start till 8:30 right?” She nodded her head.

“Yeah I know, but I thought we could get breakfast at your favorite diner.” She said smirking. My ears perked up when I heard that.

“At John’s?” I asked excitedly. She nodded and smiled. Damn this girl knows my weakness in the mornings!

“Plus I knew that was the only way to get you out of bed before 8.” I rolled my eyes at her and jumped out of bed. The only thing that can get me out of bed on school day at seven in the morning is food.

Yummy food.

Once we were dressed and ready for school, Amy and I headed out to John’s. John’s is a diner here in our town, Red Falls and they serve the most mouth watering food ever. If I could I would get every meal there, but sadly my parents wouldn’t allow that. Stupid parents. Most of the people from our school hang out there from time to time and some even work there.

Amy parked the car and we hopped out of it making our way to the diner. Even so early in the morning the diner was still busy with people coming and going. Amy and I entered the diner and slid into our usual booth. The waitress came and took our orders, which I ordered a stack of pancakes, eggs, bacon, a blueberry muffin and orange juice. Hey, what can I say? Me and food have an awesome relationship.

Amy and I chatted about topics relating school while we ate, since we do have school soon.  I was enjoying our little breakfast. See Amy and I pick a day out of the month to come and have breakfast here. It’s our tradition to do so and we’ve been doing this since middle school, I don’t think it will be ending anytime soon. Once we were done Amy went to get the car and I went to paid as I turned to walk away from the cash register  I dropped my phone due to my clumsiness. I went to go pick it up but someone else beat me to it and stood up to hand it to me. Just when I was about to reach for it the person re-treated their hand causing me to look up to see who the person was.

“Well hello there love. Remember me?” A deep voice spoke. Looking up I see piercing icy blue eyes staring into mine. Mark. “Ahh, I see you do.”

I swallowed the lump I had in my throat and kept silent. What is he doing here? “Don’t worry love, I’m not gonna hurt you.” He said with a sly smirk on his face.

“What do you want?” I said bravely but I was shaking in my boots. This guy can be scary.

“Ohh acting brave are we now? I like it.” He said sending a wink at me. If I wasn’t so scared and disgusted by his attitude I might have blushed. “I don’t want anything love, but what I was wondering is why a beauty like yourself is hanging around an asshole like Aiden.” Now I wanted to punch the idiot. Aiden’s the asshole? I don’t think so. I think he has his facts mixed up. I would have said it if I wasn’t so afraid that he would do something to me. Stupid scary dude. He held out my phone and I went to grab it and as I do he grabs my wrist with a tight hold and pulled me closer. “I’ll see you around, Emma.”  With that he let go of my wrist and walks out the diner leaving me shocked.

How did he know my name?

Stalker much?

I snapped out of my thoughts and quickly made my way out the diner and to the car where Amy was waiting.

“What took you so long, Em?” Amy asked. I can’t tell her I ran into Mark in there or else she’ll freak out and make me tell Derek or Aiden. I just want to keep this meeting between me and Mark, just between me and Mark for now.

I shook my head at her “Nothing, I just dropped my phone.” I said half lying hoping she wouldn’t catch on. She looked like she believed me because she didn’t say anything else, but just nodded her head. Once we were parked in the school’s parking lot Amy and I made our way into the halls of Jefferson High. I opened up my locker and dumped my books in it and grabbed the notebooks I needed for my morning classes. I closed my locker and glanced out of the corner of my eye to see a tall figure standing directly next to me. I almost crapped my pants. Who the hell stands so freaking close!? The person really wanted to kill me by a heart attack. I hate people sometimes. I put a hand over my heart to help stop the racing. I looked again to see Aiden with a serious expression on his face. Shit. I’ve never saw Aiden with such a serious look on his face.

“We need to talk. Now.” He stated. I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat. He looked so menacing and scary I would have sprinted out of there if I wasn’t glued to the floor with fear.

“Um, uh, o-okay.” I stammered out. Can you blame me!? He’s so scary right now. Now I know why people fear him. By now the halls were almost cleared of people and class was about to begin. “So, um, talk?” I said but it came out as a question.

“Not here.” Aiden said and he started to walk toward the doors that led to the school’s campus. I’m guessing he wanted me to follow so that’s exactly what I did. We walked out of the double doors and Aiden lead us toward the bleachers of the school’s football field. We walked up to the middle of the bleachers and sat. Aiden took out a cigarette and placed in his mouth and lit it up. Huh I never knew he smokes, must be part of the bad boy reputation. Aiden inhaled the cigarette and exhaled it out as he looked out to grassy area of the school. We sat in comfortable silence until I got impatient and broke it.

“Aiden, if you’re not gonna talk, then I’m gonna go.” I said getting up from my seat prepared to walk down. That was until I felt a hand grab my wrist lightly. I turned to see Aiden looking down at the bleachers.

“Sit Emma, I’ll talk.” He said softly and I complied sitting back down. Aiden cleared his throat and ran his hand through his thick dark brown hair. “I just wanted to say sorry about what happened last night.” Aiden Black apologizing? I never thought I would see the day.

“I um shouldn’t have let that guy get to me.” I could tell this was difficult for Aiden to say so I stopped him.

“Aiden, what are you really apologizing for?” I said turning to look at him to see that he was staring at me intently. “Are you apologizing for me having to see that or are you apologizing for not being able to finish what had started?” Aiden just stared at me for another minute before turning away to take a drawl for his cigarette.

“Emma, I have a past. A past that I don’t want a lot to know about.” Aiden said.

“Aiden, I’m not asking for every single detail about your past. Hell, I’m not even concern about your past. Just don’t let your past define who you are.”

“Acting wise now sweetheart?” Aiden said smirking taking the cigarette bud and stomping it out. I rolled my eyes at him as a small smile tug at the corners of my lips. I gazed out to the open forest that surround the field in front of us as we sit in silence lost in our own thoughts.

“Mark is a dangerous person, Emma.” Aiden spoke up causing me to look at him. “He’s ruthless and menacing. He will do anything to bring you down if you get on his bad side.” I totally saw that this morning. “If you see him around and he comes up to talk to you much less try anything on you, you have to tell me Emma.” I saw concern lace within his eyes as he looked at me. I swallowed the lump that was in my throat. Should I tell him about this morning?

Just when I was about to say something, Aiden interrupted. “Em, I’m more messed up then you can imagine. I’ve done many things that I’m not proud of and those things made me what I am today. I know you just said don’t let my past define me, but I can’t help it. This is who I am. I’m the bad boy that everyone fears and who people try to avoid. I’ve been through things that even people older than me never went through. I’m sorry that you saw part of my past last night. That’s one part I don’t want anyone to see.” Aiden looked so lost and broken right now. I never saw him like this before but when his gazed narrowed to the ground I saw fire and fury in those same eyes that we cold and alone a second ago.

So I did something I thought I would never do in a million years. I grabbed his hand and held it in my own. His hand was warm and inviting, the skin contact made sparks race throughout my arm. Aiden glanced at me with shock written across his face, but I ignored it.

“Aiden, I’m not the one to judge you for your past. I judge you by your personality and you have the best one I’ve seen so far. So don’t be afraid to be yourself or show yourself to others. I like you for you and not for what you are.”

“Going all therapist on me sweetheart?” Aiden said with a genuine smile on his lips. I shrugged my shoulders but smiled back at him.

“It’s one of my many talents.” I said sending a playful wink at him.

Aiden chuckled softly. “Yeah, one of your few talents.”

“Hey! I was all nice to you just now, don’t be mean.” I pouted like a child. Aiden squeezed my hand and laughed.

“Thanks sweetheart, I needed that.” I smiled at him and just then the bell rang signaling student that it was the end of first period. “I guess we should get going, don’t want my little nerd being late for class.”  My little nerd? As his?

I blushed when he said that. I like the sound of being his. Ugh, I’m such a girl. “Yeah you’re right. We don’t want Mr. Bad Ass being late either.” I said smirking at him and he smirked back.

“I like the sound of that. Mr. Bad Ass, has a nice ring to it huh?” He said as he tugged me down the bleachers still holding my hand. I shook my head at him laughing slightly. As we near the main building, Aiden let go of my hand but still stood the close distance. When we entered the building he turns to me. “I’ll see you later in history sweetheart.” He said with one last smile as he walked away leaving me behind, but one thought was still in the back of my mind.

Who really is Aiden Black?

~~~
-Aiden-
I can’t believe it.
I can’t believe I let that fucking idiot Mark get to me last night. That asshole knows how to push my buttons in order for him to get a reaction out of me. When I saw him all I wanted to do was beat the living shit out of him. I tried to keep myself calm but it didn’t work once he mentioned her. That little fucker knew if he mentioned her I would try to attack him and he was right I was gonna attack him but Matt and Derek held me back. I was burning with rage and fury that I didn’t even notice when Mark left until Derek whispered it to me. I was burning on the inside until I turned around and came face to face with Emma.
I didn’t know what to say of what to do, so I void my face of any emotion toward her. When I told her I was leaving I saw the flash of hurt that came through her eyes but I just could not stay there after what happened. Once I was out of the house I drove my car near a cliff. It was beautiful up there. Trees surround the open area with stars twinkling above, the cliff over looked the city and with all the light shining at night it looked magnificent. But I wasn’t paying attention to any of that, I just lied back on the hood of my car and let the sound of nature and my thoughts consume me.
I knew Derek and Matt would try to reach me, so turned off my cell phone and stuffed it into my pocket. They thought I would do something stupid but as of right now I don’t have the rush or need to even try to do anything. Not ever since I met Emma. It seems like this little nerd has an effect on me. I don’t know what it is, but I’m starting to like it because she’s actually bring out the real me that I’ve been hiding for years and if I’m gonna be honest, it kind of scares me that she is.
So that’s why this morning I decided to talked to her. I knew she deserved an explanation about why that happened last night, but I couldn’t give it to her just yet. So I decided to something else, which was apologizing. I apologized for the way I acted last night, but I could tell she saw through me, she saw that it was much more than a knee jerk reaction. I could see it in her eyes that she had so many questions to ask me but I couldn’t give the answers to them just yet. She told me to not let my past define me, but it’s kind of difficult when that’s all it does. I wanted to tell her about my past and what actually happen I want to tell her who Mark is and what kind of piece of shit he really is. But the only thing that’s holding me back is actually trusting her. Do I trust her? Even only knowing her for a few weeks I do actually trust this girl and I think it’s time I actually tell her who I really am. Either she’ll run from me or take me for who I am like how Derek and Matt did. Now all I have to do is find the perfect time to tell her.
Get ready Emma Miller.
Your about to learn who the real Aiden Black is.
