Chapter - 16

( Hi, some of the things I write may not be correct in medical terms. So, please adjust according to it and there are two Emma one is the doctor in London and Chris sister.)

Rachel's POV:

So, it's been a month already after the night out with Emma. I have already formally given them the letter to the hospital that I'm quitting. I planned to go back to the USA.

The hospital president again tried to make me stay but, after a long talk, he agreed in the end. I still have to work 10 weeks in the hospital.

I told my godmother, Travis and my besties. I'm coming back to the USA. They were so happy and excited.

But, there is a lot of work for me to do now. I mean a lot.

First, I have to get a job at the hospital and need to apply for a few hospitals in different states and I need to choose a hospital in which they offer me a job.

Second, my main priority in California and other states or cities are in the option. Of course, New York is out of my list. You may wonder why but you know the answer.

The different hospitals will have different offers and there will be already GS doctors and may or may not need me. I may or may not get the chief of GS position. The hospital I'm working in is already offering me the position. Then again, I'm sure they will want me cause I'm good at it and famous in General surgery. Some of my surgeries have been famous and came in news and talked about it.

Third, once I got the job. I need to buy or rent the house. I need to live near my closest ones. Not far away from them. This is why I'm going back. I have no family but I have people I can call my family. This time after settling in maybe a year or two I will start dating again. Because the first year in the hospital will have a lot of work usually. And, I'm also planning to do an extra degree. These degrees can only be studied after one become a full doctor. It's just one needs to apply for the exam and write when the time comes. This, usually most doctors do.

I have already talked to a guy named Mike. He is like an agent and he gave me the list of hospitals willing to hire me. I got the list which I'm currently looking at.

I got more than 10 offers and which are less yet to come. I already told Mike my conditions and according to which he had given me this list.

So, let's just see. They are quite a few best offers which I'm already surprised and Mike told me they are willing to contact me by the hospital legal team and their president.

Mike told me to come to the USA so that I can come and see the hospital and have a direct talk with them. If it's good then complete the procedures.

I have selected 3 hospitals which are in Illinois, Chicago. San Francisco, California and Washington, D.C. These, are the best offers I got and they suited me.

But, I'm mostly going to choose between California or Chicago.

I'm planning on making a trip to the USA in 2 weeks in which my time in hospital will come to an end. I planned on first deciding which hospital and then buying or renting a home and then I'm going to move in there. Till then I'm going to be here in the UK.

I'm now going to make a phone call to Emma who is Chris's sister. Not the Emma in the UK.

Since I'm going to the USA I plan on seeing Blake my son. But, I don't know the situation there. Will Blake want to see me or not.

I also want to know, how is he doing? Is his health good? Did he miss me? Is he behaving well? Is he happy with Chris and Natalie? How are his studies? Which game does he like to play? Does he like music or something? Did he grow up in height?

I have a lot of questions now in my head and since I'm going to the USA I can't stop thinking about him. It's been 2 years since I last saw him. I didn't even call to wish him on his birthday. I miss him a lot.

All, I can do now is control my feelings and tears which drop out of my control. I can only call Emma now and ask her.

After a deep breath. I'm calling her now. Now, it's morning in New York.

Emma answered the call on 3rd ring.

"Hello, who is this?" Emma answered the call of a foreign number.

"Hi, Emma. It's me Rachel." Rachel said after a brief pause.

"Oh, god. Rachel, where the hell have you been and it's 2 years. Are you okay? Where were you in these 2 years? Do you have any idea how worried I was? Do, you know how many times I tried to find you and ask all the people I know about you? Do you how many times I emailed you?" Emma said in both angered and worried tones. Rachel only left an email to look after Blake and that she's leaving.

"I'm fine, Emma. Sorry, for all the trouble and I'm in London." Rachel's said in a sorry tone. She was shocked by her angered tone.

"You bet, you're sorry. Wait! What? You're in London? What are you doing there? I know you left the country but you still haven't returned? Don't tell me you settled there?" Emma said in a surprised tone.

Rachel chuckled and said, " No, I was travelling for nearly 8 months to a few countries and got a job in one of the hospitals in London for a year."

"Oh, if you want to travel you could have called me in the fun,'' Emma said in a funny tone. She knows why Rachel travelled. There is no way she's could have called her Chris's sister. "Why in London? You could have applied for a job in the USA or New York." Emma asked confused why she choose to work in London than in New York where she worked before.

"In my travel, I just visited a few hospitals and helped as a guest doctor. And, at the time just like that, I got an offer from the hospital in London." Rachel didn't say she got the job after she did a very critical surgery that's difficult and after she completed the operation. She got offers in a few hospitals and how she got famous because of that.

"Wow, that's great then. Will you be coming back to the USA?" Emma asked after Rachel's reply.

"Yes, in 2 weeks I will be the USA and I'm going to move back to the USA," Rachel said and thought about asking Blake.

"Great! Come and call me we shall meet. I miss you Rachel and even kids asked about you." Emma said after knowing she will be back. Her kids also asked about Rachel when she divorced and they also didn't like Natalie. Maybe it's because she didn't like Natalie a bit. The same goes for Natalie.

"Yes, I miss them too. How are they?" Rachel smiled and asked when she thought about Emma's kids. They were close to Rachel back then.

"They are good. They will be excited to know you are coming." Emma said. The kids remember Rachel as Blake's mother and uncles wife and their sweet aunty. Sometimes they will ask about Rachel.

"I can't wait to meet them." Rachel said excitedly. After a moment she asked about Blake " how is Blake? Emma, is he doing good? Happy with Chris and all?" Rachel asked in a heavy tone.

When Rachel's asked Emma about this, Emma knows she will ask her about Blake. In her opinion, her nephew is a spoiled brat and with no manners. Of course, she's not going to tell her on the phone about this she didn't want to worry Rachel about this and can't say it directly. She also thought about the last visit to Chris's house ( ref: chap 11). and Her eyebrows frowned.

"He's doing good Rachel. Last, I saw him he even asked me he wants to see you." Emma said in a somewhat assured tone.

But when Rachel's heard about this she was happy or dropped tears from her eyes.

She was happy Blake asked about her. She was overwhelmed with happiness.

"It's great that he's doing fine." Rachel said. And a somewhat hesitant and worried manner she asked "Um, Can I meet him Emma, which I come to New York. Will Chris allow me to see Blake? Is Blake willing to see me? Is it okay?"

Rachel's asked this because she has no right to see Blake after she is given full custody. Only if Chris allowed will she be able to see Blake. Last time, she remembered Chris words and his anger with the way he treated her. She was worried if Chris says no. Who knows what he will say and do? And she doesn't want to talk with Chris now unless it needs her to talk to him.

Although, if Chris didn't allow and she can ask Emma to secretly see Blake. But, if it's found. There will be a lot of trouble for both of them. Chris may go to any extreme to get a warrant. She knows Chris's pride if he learns this he may do something like this. The last time she checked his anger for her was extreme they didn't even have a good conversation even back then.

If someone knows she got a warrant to not see her kid. It will damage her name. Already, Chris and Natalie did a good job ruining her reputation. So, Rachel was worried.

Because that's how Rachel thinks about Chris.

"Don't worry Rachel. I will ask him and get Blake to meet you and if he doesn't allow I will beat him till he learns to know 'not to say no to your sister' and he will allow basically if Blake wants to see you." Emma knows Rachel was worried and concerned about this and she also didn't say Chris's once tried to search for her and want to talk to her. She hated how her brother treated Rachel.

"Thank you so much, Emma. I can't wait to see him." Rachel said after she was assured by Emma she knows Chris won't mind this little request. If he did mind then there will be a problem.

"Hey, No need to thank, Rachel. Let's meet soon can't wait to meet you." Said Emma.

"Alright, bye Emma. See you in 2 weeks then. I will tell you when will we meet." Rachel said.

"Bye then, Rachel," Emma said in a happy tone.

Rachel was happy finally Blake asked about her. Maybe he will miss mommy and wants to meet her. She can't wait to see him and hug him and then plant kisses on his face. Maybe he's not angry at her anymore.

Rachel's will always love Blake. But, it's just after seeing him this time she will have to keep a safe distance and she didn't want to involve Blake's family.
