Chapter 13: Chapter Twelve: Oh Lord, Don't Sneeze

They Call Me LunaticWords: 17218

I groaned feeling something cold beneath me except for my head. I knew I was not at home in Kieran and I's nice bed. I wasn't even on the floor. I felt like I was lying on a rock. A big rock.

I could feel something warm followed by soothing shocks stream through my body as Kieran's hand rubbed up and down my arm. I knew it was Kieran. Only he had that effect on me.

My mouth was dry and as soon as I sucked in a big breath a series of coughs followed. My eyes flew open when a sudden rush of pain surged through my chest. The first thing I saw was Kieran looking down at me with worried and tired eyes. My head was resting on his thighs. I looked away from him to my chest seeing the same bloodied shirt I had on when I was with Marilyn.

I gasped, but Kieran hushed me.

"They'll hear you. If they know you're awake they'll take you in for questioning, and you're not ready for that," he said quietly. I gulped and nodded. My throat burned feeling the need to cough again.

"Where's Marilyn?" I asked raising my hand up to the side of his face. My palm cupped his cheek feeling more shocks.

"Here," she said pretty loudly. I dropped my hand and turned my head away from Kieran. It was clear we were in a cell and across from us was Marilyn in one as well.

She was sitting in the corner of her cell farthest from the bars. Two chains attached to the wall with cuffs at the end were cuffed around her wrists. They looked long enough that she could walk to the bars, but I had a bad feeling as to why she refused to get close to them.

Her eye was bruised and she had a healing cut just below it. She was obviously tired, and her shirt was practically gone. You could see part of her black sports bra peeking out of the spots that had been torn.

"Shut up, would you?" Bolton spat from the cell next to Marilyn looking even worse.

I turned back to Kieran feeling my heart rate speed up. Now noticing his swollen, busted lip and crooked nose, I could feel anger swell up in me.

"What happened?" My hand came back up to his face. My thumb ran across his bottom lip lightly.

"I don't know. You tell me," Marilyn snapped angrily. I frowned looking at Kieran's lip.

"They were in the brush," I mumbled feeling like it were my fault we had been taken and locked up. If I would have just kept going when Marilyn came out of literally no where, we could have stopped them. "I was trying to find you. I kept hearing someone from the brush. I should have known the first time," I whispered making myself more upset with every word. "I didn't listen to her when she said to run. They shot me," I said taking in a deep breath. I could feel pain from the wound, "and now I'm probably going to die or something."

Marilyn scoffed. "Stop being so dramatic. They used one of those stupid, disintegrating bullets on you. They melt to silver as soon as they make contact. It wasn't a large enough dose to kill you," she explained making me instantly feel ten times better.

"Yeah, but now we are all stuck here. Damn Cadman Pack," Bolton said weakly pulling on the restraints.

"Why don't I have any restraints?" I asked noticing everyone was wearing some but me.

"You aren't really a danger while you're asleep, Arden," Kieran said softly taking my hand away from his face, placing it into his hand. He squeezed it noticing my confusion.

"But, I'm awake now?"

"The silver stays in your system for a while. Trust me, just try standing up," Bolton said still slumped against the wall which is where I guessed he began.

"Oh," I mumbled, "I'd rather not." No one said anything for a moment. They all seemed extremely tired, and Bolton looked very much in pain. I had a good feeling based on the strange way his arm was bent that it was broken.

"How did you guys get caught?" I asked quietly watching Bolton closely as he struggled to get into a comfortable seating position. His blue orbs surrounded by red from the lack of sleep.

"Long story," Bolton said with a bit of a groan to his voice. My lips formed a flat line not knowing if they even wanted to talk at all.

"I woke up first. They didn't really have a hard time taking me out considering I thought they were you tracking me down," Marilyn said pushing herself farther into the wall in an attempt to sit up straighter. "The alpha here is horrid. He might be hot as hell, but in no way have I met anyone more despicable besides Keenan. Now, that's the real devil-"

"Marilyn, that's enough," Kieran interrupted. I turned my head to look at him. His grip on my hand got a bit tighter as his eyes had a glint of hatred flash through them. I gulped knowing he was angry and I just happened to be in here with him.

Marilyn crossed her arms lazily over her chest and hugged in her corner.

"How am I in here with you, but they aren't?" I asked Kieran turning to look into his deep green eyes.

"Well, for a while you weren't. But about twelve hours of shouting, growling, and wounding a guard, they decided it might be in their best interest for them to just stick you in there with him until your first questioning. Then, it's lock up for you, Princess," Marilyn said looking at her chipped nails with an annoyed expression.

"Wait, so how long have you guys been awake?"

"Kieran and I woke up shortly after Marilyn, about four days ago," Bolton said making my heart leap.

"Four days?" I asked a bit loudly. "Why am I always passed out for everything?" I said joking recalling when I had first arrived.

"You haven't been missing much," Kieran muttered scratching his head. The chains rattling as he did so.

"Honestly. I'd rather sleep for two days than go back into that damn room for questioning," Bolton ranted. "You make one joke about his damn mom, who happens to be a fox by the way, and you get your arm broken," he muttered. I snorted thinking of what a Bolton thing that was to say.

It was then that we heard a large boom throughout the cells. It was a door, and a big one at that.

I could hear footsteps and someone saying something, but I was still a bit drained mentally. It wasn't until they were just a few cells away that I heard what they were saying.

A man came in front of Kieran and I's cell. He shined a light directly into my eyes making me flinch away; in return, making Kieran growl and hold me against him. I felt like I was back at the hospital. People shining lights in my eyes. Next, they were going to start asking me questions I didn't know the answers to. Only now it's not what are the voices saying or what do they want? It'll be who are you or where are you from?

"Up at last?" The man said with a smile that scared me. This man was tall. Probably Kieran's height and he was built. He was terrifying. A different kind of terrifying from Kieran. The mate bond made me feel comfortable around Kieran. This man I didn't have any attachment to. He had to be the Alpha.

He had dark brown hair with a pair of steely grey eyes that I found so intriguing. They reminded me of my eyes, but they were much colder.

"Get her out and bring her to me," the alpha said to a few men standing next to him. They nodded at his order and then he walked away.

Kieran held me tighter growling even louder at the men. They ignored him. One of them began pressing something on a box on the side of our cell. Suddenly, Kieran's arms started pulling away from me.

"Damn it," Kieran growled out as the chains on his wrists began getting shorter. The chains were receding into the wall. They stopped pulling in the chains when his arms were straight in the air. I still held onto Kieran for fear of what they were going to do. They did some pretty bad damage to Kieran, Marilyn, and Bolton, already. I didn't really feel like dying yet. I have already gotten out of it so many times.

A man opened the cell door making me hold onto Kieran tighter.

"Don't fight them, Arden. You're not strong enough as it is. It'll be a quick fight that won't be worth anything," Marilyn said tiredly. In the mean while, Kieran was thrashing his arms around trying to break free of the restraints.

"Arden, go before he hurts himself!" Bolton shouted at me. I stood up quickly ignoring all the pain in my body and turned around to look at Kieran. His eyes were at their darkest and I knew his wolf was now coming forward for the protection of what's his.

"Come on. We can make this quick and easy or long and difficult. Your choice," the man stepping toward me said. I gulped backing up. My back hit the wall and my heart rate sped up. I prayed for my wolf to step forward and just slaughter them man, but I didn't even feel her stir. The silver had knocked her out completely for a period of time that I wasn't certain of.

"Arden," Marilyn growled out knowing I was thinking about charging just as Kieran was shouting at the man that if he touched me he wouldn't be seeing daylight.

I gulped back every ounce of fear in me and took the steps forward toward the man. He quickly turned me around putting some sort of restraint on my hands. They were locked behind my back.

I knew that there were more men in the facility. There was no way I could pull a Hans Solo and Luke Skywalker when they freed Princess Leia from the detention center and escaped the Death Star. I'd most likely make it as far as C-3PO when a storm trooper shot him to pieces on Lando's Cloud City. Which, if you do not know, is not very far. He had to be carried in pieces inside of a book-bag by a large furry beast-man which seems crazy, but I've been living with three of them.

"Let's go," the man behind me said pushing me out of the cell. I obeyed his orders and began walking out of the cell and down the hall of small square rooms enclosed by vertical bars.

"Don't fight them Arden! And don't get yourself killed, kid!" Marilyn shouted to me from down the hall. I could faintly hear it, but I had just managed to hear it along with the constant growls of my angry mate.

I continued on my way passing guards and men with pistols. My heart raced thinking I could sneeze and one of them could think I were trying to attack and blow my head off. Oh lord, do not sneeze.

Eventually, we made it to a large oak door (I think). My nerves were everywhere, but I just took a deep breath and stood tall. I've been sleeping in the same bad as some feared shredder alpha. I shouldn't be scared now, should I? Probably, considering I still don't even fully understand the reason for shredders being so hated.

"She's here, sir," the man said holding a tight grip on my shoulder and the restraints on my wrists.

"Bring her in," the alpha's voice said making my heart stop beating for a second. The door was pushed open by someone on the other side. The man pushed me in and then shut the door behind me. Instantly, another man had shoved me into a chair in front of the alpha himself. Not very nicely, if I may say so my self. His hand yanked my hair and arm to make me sit, not knowing I would have done what he said if he just asked.

I turned around to look at the man, but only caught a glimpse of his blonde locks before a slap to the cheek turned me right back around.

The alpha was glaring at me as I sat in my seat uncomfortably.

"Well, this is different," he said looking at me intensely with those grey eyes that had me shaking a bit. "You're a bit more," he paused thinking of what he wanted to say, "nervous than the others."

"You would be, too," I said quietly staring directly into his eyes. I didn't know why, but I felt like I was supposed to. It felt like I was challenging him, honestly, and although that's the last thing I wanted to do, something kept me doing it.

"What's your name?" He asked me with a cold stare.

"I'm guessing you already know. You probably already got information about me out of the others," I said feeling a bit of confidence with my answer.

"Well, aren't you just full of surprises?" He said cocking an eyebrow. "Where do you get an answer like that?"

"You learn a thing or two watching people over the years. They make the mistakes and I learn from them," I replied trying my hardest to keep direct eye contact, but his state was just so intense.

Suddenly, the door burst open with a man standing in its place who seemed extremely out of breath.

"Sir, the leader broke a chain, and he's on his way of breaking the other. He's on a mission down there," the man sputtered breathlessly.

"Sedate him. He's not going to stop until she's back down there," the alpha said making me growl.

"Don't touch him," I snarled, but he just ignored me and nodded his head directing the man to get out and do his job.

I tried standing up but two strong hands came down on my shoulders. I snarled again and jerked my shoulders hoping he would remove his hands, but he just held onto his grip more tightly if possible.

"Which pack are you originally from?" The alpha asked with curiosity swimming in his grey orbs.

"What are you talking about?" I snapped.

"It's obvious you are or were a pack wolf. You have the scent of one." I didn't speak. I held my lips together tightly not knowing what to say.

"I don't know. I'm an orphan. I grew up human in a mental hospital."

"What kind of shit story is that?" He asked seeming a bit angry.

"I'm not lying!" I argued. "I was sent to an orphanage when I was a baby and then when I was thirteen I was classified as mentally insane. They stuck me in the looney bin until I got out a few months ago. Marilyn found me wandering the streets of who knows where and wanted to slaughter me. Kieran happened to be my mate and that's the end of that," I said feeling not so sure of my story by the end. Sure, it was all true, but it was truly insane! It wasn't exactly a nice bed time story or the star plot for a nice book before bed.

It was kind of a messed up, demented reality.

The alpha scoffed and looked at me with disgust.

"You really think I'm stupid enough to believe that?" He asked angrily. He stood up and walked over to me. His fists wrapped themselves in the collar of my bloodied shirt as he hoisted me up out of the chair.

"I swear! It's the truth! I barely know why we are even here! Don't kill me! Please put me down!" I pleaded quickly as I kicked my legs trying to find ground.

I was about to lose all hope when I remembered the most important part of my story that I had left out.

"I was taken from my family as a baby! They put this code on me for tracking or something! It's on my collar bone! Just look!" I shouted not really being able to breathe as well now that my shirt was tightly pushed against my windpipe.

The alpha froze for a moment. His eyes were suddenly clouded with something I couldn't quite recognize. He dropped me. Unfortunately, I completely missed the chair. I landed on the floor. My butt hit the floor before anything else.

"Get my parents," the alpha said as he backed away a bit looking at me with horror and curiosity. I kicked my feet against the floor trying to create distance between him and I. The blonde man ran out of the room like a bat out of hell.

"Where have you been?" The alpha whispered, staring at me. "What the hell happened to you?"

I didn't answer. I just kept moving backward. That was until the door burst open moments later.

Standing in the door way, were three people. There was a boy who seemed younger than the alpha. He had lighter brown hair and light blue eyes which did not match the dark brown haired-grey eyed man next to him with a few grey hairs showing through. Instead, his eyes and hair seemed to match the woman standing amongst the trio. What startled me about her was her face.

She was stunning, as were the the rest of them. They all shared resemblance and I knew they had to be the parents of the alpha. Her brown hair went a bit past her shoulders and her icy blue eyes were extremely hypnotizing. The scar that ran down her right eye is what caught my attention most of all. It extended from the top of her eyebrow to the beginning of her jaw.

I stared at the three of them wide-eyes and then returned my gaze back to the alpha. I repeated it countless times.

Then the woman spoke up. Tears rushing to her eyes and instant dejavû coming over me. Her voice was something I had heard before, and I knew as soon as she finished saying what she had, where I'd heard it before.

"Grey, you came home."
