Uncle John Meets Grayson

Mira's POV

So it's been twelve days since little Grayson was born. He and I were released the day after his birth. He isn't to bad at sleeping and hates being woken up. Until he realizes he is getting food. Anyway, today Elena and Jeremy are returning to school. Grayson and I are in our second outfits of the day. He decided to throw up on us both. Guess he doesn't like the colour green.

Anyway, I'm holding him in my arms as he sleeps. Elena and Jeremy are about to leave. "Come on Jeremy, going to school! Walking out the door now!" Elena calls. She then smiles at me. "Take good care of this nephew of mine" she tells me.

"Of course I will" I say with a smile as Jenna joins us.

"Forgot this" she tells Elena, handing her a thermos.

"Thank you" Elena says. She opens the door to reveal Uncle John. Who looked like he was about to knock. I hold Grayson closer, no one told Uncle John about him. "Uncle John! Hi" she says.

He smiles and looks at Jenna and I. "Jenna, Mira" he says in greeting.

"John, you made it" Jenna says.

"I said I'll be here before noon" he states as he enters the house.

"Oh what you say and what you do are typically two very different things" Jenna states. As Jeremy comes downstairs.

"Uncle John, what's up?" he asks. Slapping him on the back. He then smiles at Grayson. "You be good for your mother" he tells Grayson and hugs me gently. "Take care" he tells me and left.

"I had some business in town; I thought that a visit was in order" Uncle John states. "Turns out I was right" he says looking at Grayson and I.

"How long are you staying?" Elena asks him.

"I don't know yet" he admits.

"Okay, well, I'm gonna go to school, I'll see you later" Elena says and left. Sending me a look, that wished me luck.

"So what's up with Jeremy?" Uncle John asks Jenna.

"He just lost a friend, so try to be sensitive" Jenna tells him.

"I'm always sensitive" he says with a chuckle.

"Right, so really how long are you staying?" she asks.

"Can you at least pretend that you're happy to see me?" he asks her.

"Oh my god John! It's so good to see you. How have you been?" she asks fawning excitement. Then frowns. "No, I can't" she says seriously.

"Do you really think that I was just gonna sign the escrow papers and send them back?" he asks her.

"Actually I did" she states.

"I'm not going to let you sell my brother's office" he tells her.

"It's not up to you or me; it belongs to Jeremy and Elena and Mira" Jenna tells him.

"Yeah but they're minors, so I get the final say, being that I'm the estate's trustee" h states. "Speaking of, when were you going to tell me Mira was pregnant?" he demands.

"It wasn't her decision" I state. "He is my son and what I do with my life is of no concern to you" I tell him.

"You're seventeen" he states.

"So what?" I ask him. "I've been doing my classes online and my grades have not slipped" I state.

"Who's the dad?" he asks.

"Not that it is any of your business, but Matt is. He is dating Caroline, we are co-parenting. Speaking of which I haven't called him yet, see you" I say and went upstairs to my room. I place Grayson on the bed and grab my phone calling Matt.

"Hi, how was last night?" he asks me.

"It was fine, you won't believe who just returned to town" I tell him.

"Oh, who?" he asks.

"Uncle John, needless to say he was shocked by Grayson" I state.

"Do you need me to come over?" he asks me concerned.

"No, I can handle it. Besides I have Jenna to help" I assure him. "You go to school and tell Care I said hello" I tell him. He said he would and hung up. There is a knock on my door and I sigh picking up Grayson asking who it is.

"Your uncle" John says.

"Enter" I say with a sigh. I place Grayson in his portable coot. "Did you need something?" I ask him. As I sit at my desk powering up my computer.

"What's his name?" he asks.

"Grayson Victor Gilbert-Donovan" I state.

"You named him after your dad?" he asks.

"Yes, you know how much I loved my dad" I remind him.

"You used to follow him everywhere" he states with a small smile. "I see you still wear the necklace he got you" he adds.

"It reminds me of him and mum" I state.

"How do you think they would of reacted to him?" he asks. I sigh and turn to face.

"They would of been disappointed at first, but would of supported my decision to keep him" I state. "He's my world" I add smiling at my son. "I'd die to protect him from the evil out there" I state.

"Evil?" he asks.

"Surely you know Uncle, it is a Gilbert secret" I say with a smile. "I found out last year and plan on joining the council once I finish school. So that I can better protect Grayson and our family" I state.

"It's dangerous" he tells me.

"I know, but it'd be even more dangerous staying in the dark" I state. "Uncle John, I fear this town is in great danger. But I can't help protect it yet, so you have to protect it in my place. For my dad, my mum and for little Grayson" I tell him.

"I will protect this town" he assures me. "And see to it that the threat is eliminated, do you trust me?" he asks.

"I trust you to kill any vampires that threaten this town" I state.

"Good enough" he says. "Are you going to the party later?" he asks.

"The Founders' Day Kick-off Party?" I ask and he nods his head. "Yes, I'm going with Matt. He and his mother were invited" I state.

"I'll see you there then, right now I have a meeting with the council" he states. "Take good care of yourself and little Grayson. Leave the rest to me" he tells me and left.

(Time skip)

So Elena and I decided it was finally time to tell Jeremy about us being adopted. So we're out on a walk with him and Grayson. Who is in his stroller. As we walk around the lake. "I just can't believe mom and dad never told either of you that you both were adopted" he states.

" I'm sure they would have eventually" Elena states.

"Probably when we turned eighteen" I add.

"Why were you both worried about what I thought?" he asks confused.

"Because...I don't know. It's weird. Going you're whole life thinking you're related by blood to someone" Elena states.

"Does it bug either of you that we're not?" he asks.

"No, Jer...you're our brother, that's all that matters" Elena assures him.

"And my son's favourite uncle" I add and he smiles.

"So, Mr. Saltzman said you've been doing great in history now" Elena says changing the subject. I hadn't told her that Jeremy knows about vampires. I also haven't told him the truth about how Vicki died yet.

"Yeah, yeah he's really been helping me out. He gave me some extra credit and stuff" Jeremy states.

"He loved your vampire paper" Elena states.

"He thought I had a clever angle" Jeremy tells her.

"What drew you to that subject matter?" she asks him.

"I don't know, boredom or maybe I'm just as nuts as the long line of Gilbert crazies" he jokes.

"Gilberts aren't crazy" she tells him.

" Easy for you to say, you're not one" he teases.

"Ouch" she says and hits him with her shoulder playfully. He runs off and she runs after him. I smile shaking my head.

"Your aunt and uncle maybe crazy, but they love you" I tell Grayson. Who coos happily. I smile and jog to catch up to my siblings.

(Time skip)

I arrived at the Founder's hall to see the party has already started. Carol greats me. "Oh he is darling" she tells me smiling at the sleeping Grayson.

"Hope you don't mind, couldn't find a baby sitter" I say sheepishly.

"Oh he is always welcome" she assures me. "I saw Matt and Elena earlier" she tells me.

"I better go find Matt, he hasn't seen Grayson all day" I state. She nods her head in understand and I go look for Matt. I soon find him with Elena.

"There's my handsome boy" he says smiling and takes Grayson from me. "How did it go with John?" he asks me.

"We reached an understanding" I state. "Sorry I'm late, what have I missed?" I ask.

"Nothing much" Elena assures me.

"Who knew I've been missing all the fun at the Founders' parties?" Matt says jokingly.

"This is rare, believe me" Elena tells him.

"Is it bad that I'm enjoying myself?" he asks us.

"No, it's great that you are enjoying yourself. Thanks for making me dance" Elena tells him.

"Hey, it's normal" he says hugging her gently. "You want a dance?" he asks me.

"No, I'm ok" I assure him. "It's a little stuffy in here though" I state. Matt agrees and hands me Grayson. We go outside with Elena.

"You haven't seen my mom have you?" he asks us.

"No, not in a while" Elena tells him.

"I've only seen you two and Mrs Lockwood" I state. As we got outside. We gasp when we see Tyler making out with Matt's mum.

"What the hell are you doing man?" Matt demands rushing over to the pair. I hid Grayson's face in my neck. Tyler tells Matt to calm down. But Matt punches Tyler in the face. They begin to fight and in the fight Kelly gets pushed to the floor. Tyler hits Matt again and again and again.

"Matt! Stop it! Tyler! Stop it, you're hurting him! Somebody help us!" Elena and I shout. As Grayson starts to cry. I try to shush him. Ric arrives, pulls Tyler off Matt and pushes him against a wall.

"What the hell is that?" he demands. Elena and I rush over to Matt. As the mayor arrives.

"I'll take it from here" he states. "Are you hurt?" he asks Tyler in false concern. Tyler shakes his head. "Go get cleaned up. It's okay. Go get cleaned up" he tells him and Tyler left. I notice a crowd had gathered. "Thank you for your help" he tells Ric. Before looking at the crowd.

"Everything's fine. Everything is fine. Come on, everybody, back to the party. Let's go. Come on, have a good time!" he tells the crowd. They all go back inside. Elena asks Matt if he is ok as I finally got Grayson to settle down.

"Where is she?" he asks.

"I don't know. Put your head up" she tells him. He does so.

"They'll be ringing the bell soon" I state. "Come watch Matt, you can find Kelly later. Once you've calmed down" I tell him. He agrees reluctantly and we all go inside. We watch the Mayor call my uncle onto the stage and he rung the bell. Matt then dropped me off at home and went back to his house.

I go to Jeremy's room and knock. "Come in" he says and I enter.

"Hi, didn't see you at the kick-off party" I state.

"I left early" he states. "How was it?" he asks.

"Well Tyler made out with Matt's mum and they got into a huge fight. Otherwise, it was uneventful" I tell him. "I'm gonna make dinner, can you watch Grayson?" I ask.

"Sure" he says and I hand Grayson to him.

"Any requests?" I ask him.

"I'm not fussed" he assures me. I smile and leave his room. I head to the kitchen and decide to make spaghetti. It should feed all of us. I wonder how long Uncle John will stay? Will he end my fear of being attacked? Because, I still have a bad feeling that something bad is going to happen soon. But he told me to trust and let him deal with the vampire problem. So that's what I will do, at least for now.
