Meeting Isobel

Mira's POV

"La la lu, la la lu" I sing as I rock Grayson as I sit in the rocking chair. I can't believe my little baby is a month old already. Today he'd come with me to the school to help make the floats for the Founders Day Parade. Matt will be there, he has the day off of work. He is working on the battle of Willow Creek float with Tyler, Jeremy and some other guys.

"Mira" Elena says pulling me from my thoughts. I look up and smile at her. "Ric needs to see us in his classroom, says its important" she states. I frown in confusion and stand up.

"I'm supposed to be meeting Matt" I state.

"I know, it won't take long" she assures me. I sigh.

"Ok, hold Grayson" I say handing him to her gently. I grab my phone and text Matt, saying I'd be a little late. He said it was ok. I take Grayson back and leave the house with Elena. We go to the school to see Ric and Stefan already there. "Great, something supernatural" I mutter as I hld Grayson close.

"He's gotten bigger" Stefan states.

"He's a month old now" I say proudly.

"Has it really been a month already?" Elena asks me and I nod my head.

"I'm sorry to ruin this moment, but we have a big problem" Ric states.

(Mini time skip)

To see I was shocked that Isobel was in town is an understatement. Along with the fact she wants to meet Elena and I. Of course I refused. But then Ric told us her threat and now I am very torn on what to do. Just then Damon enters the room. "Damon, thanks for coming" Ric says.

"Sorry I'm late. My dog ate my uh...never mind" Damon mutters. He looks around at us all. "What's with all the furrowed brows?" he asks. "Also congrats on the baby Mira" he states.

"Thanks" I mumble.

"I saw Isobel last night" Ric tells Damon.

"Isobel is here?" Damon asks and Ric nods. "In town?" he asks.

"Yes Damon" I snap. Grayson steers and I sigh rocking him gently. Not wanting him to wake up just yet.

"Did you ask her about Uncle John? Are they working together?" Damon asks Ric. I frown, why would Ric ask Isobel about uncle John? He'd never work with a vampire. Let alone my vampire birth mother.

"No" Ric answers.

"No they're not?" Damon asks.

"No, I didn't ask" Ric clarifies.

"What about the invention?" Damon asks. Ok, I am so out of the loop. Elena has a lot of explaining to do. I give her a look and she nods, mouthing hat she'd explain later.

"Didn't ask" Ric tells him.

"Did she know about the tomb vampires?" Damon asks him.

"I don't know" Ric states.

"Did words completely escape you?" Damon demands.

"No, I was a little too distracted by my dead vampire wife to ask any questions" Ric snaps.

"What did she want?" Damon asks.

"She wants to see Mira and I" Elena answers.

"Alaric is supposed to arrange a meeting. We don't know why or what she wants" Stefan adds.

"You don't have to see her if you don't want to" Damon tells Elena and I.

"You think I want to see that woman?" I snap. "I'd rather poke my eyes out, but we don't have a choice" I state.

"It'll be ok Mira" Elena assures me.

"She's threatened to go on killing spree" Ric tells Damon.

"Oh! I take it that's not okay with you guys" Damon says.

"Of course it's not bloody ok!" I exclaim and Grayson whimpers. I silently curse and take a blanket out of his nappy bag sitting down. I cover us and start to feed him.

"I want to do it. I want to meet her. If I don't, I know I'll regret it" Elena states.

"I don't want Grayson near her" I state.

"We can drop him off to Matt, surely he won't mind looking after him for a little while" Elena tells me. I nod my head reluctantly. At least out in public is safe, Isobel wouldn't dare make a move in broad day light. Would she?

"My eyes are up here Damon" I snap.

"Nothing I haven't seen before" he states.

"So Katherine breast feed did she?" I ask and he chuckles. Looking away. Grayson finishes and I burp him. I cover myself up. "Lets get this over with" I tell Elena and she nods her head. I dropped Grayson off to Matt and say I was going on a food run. Matt was more then happy to take care of our son.

Now Elena and I are sitting at the bar of the grill. Waiting for Isobel, Stefan is by the pool table. Damon and Ric weren't allowed in, so are outside. Elena thanked Stefan for coming and said she loves him. I don't get how she can love a vampire. Especially after what he did to Amber.

Anyway Elena explained to me about the device Uncle John is after. And his possible connection to Isobel due to Ric's ring. Which apparently is a Gilbert family heirloom. Also how John had a vampire keeping tabs on the tomb vampires activities. How they are still in the area.

Isobel arrives and sits down on Elena's other side. "Hello Elena, Isobel. You both look just like her, that's eerie" she states.

"It's Mira" I correct her.

"You've meet Katherine?" Elena asks.

"She found me after I turned. Genetic curiosity, I suppose. She would be fascinated by you two" Isobel states.

"Is that how you can walk in the day?" Elena asks gesturing to Isobel's necklace.

"Katherine helped me obtain it" Isobel states playing with it. I frown and stop playing with my locket. Elena asks who our father is. "Not important. He was a teenage waste of space" she answers.

"A name would be nice" Elena states.

"It would, wouldn't it? You ask a lot of questions" Isobel says looking at Elena. "Though I'm surprised Mira isn't" she adds.

"I could careless about you and our biological father. You both abandoned us" I deadpan.

"Why did you compel that man to kill himself? Right after he told me to stop looking for you" Elena says taking Isobel's attention off of me.

"Dramatic impact. I wish it would have been more effective" Isobel tells her.

"Human life means that little to you?" Elena asks.

"Means nothing to me. It's just part of being what I am" Isobel says with a shrug.

"No it's not. I know other vampires, that's not true" Elena states.

"Your new boyfriend over there by the pool table? Stefan Salvatore. Why Stefan? Why didn't you go for Damon? Or are you enjoying them both like Katherine did? Or do you like Damon Mira?" Isobel asks.

"I'd rather gauge my eyes out then be with a vampire" I sneer.

"Why did you want to meet us? Can't be to just catch up" Elena states. As I get a text. I turn my back on them and smile at the photo Caroline had sent of Matt and Grayson. Who is now awake.

"Because I'm curious about you both. But the real reason is: I want what your uncle wants. Johnathan Gilbert's invention" Isobel answers Elena as I put my phone away.

"How do you know our uncle?" we ask her.

"I used to spend a lot of time here when I was younger. John had a crush on me for years. He was the first one that told me about vampires" Isobel states. I frown in confusion.

"So what made you want to be one?" Elena asks.

"It's a very long list of reasons, Elena. All of which I'm sure you've thought about" Isobel says with a smirk.

"No" Elena says.

"That was your first lie. It's inevitable, you're going to get old, Stefan won't" Isobel states. "Forever doesn't last very long when you're human" she adds.

"My sister would never become a vampire" I snap.

"I'm sorry but we don't have what you're looking for" Elena tells her. We go to leave. But Isobel catches our arms and forces us to sit down.

"Sit down and tell your boyfriend to walk away" Isobel tells Elena. Who nods at Stefan, who stops approaching us. "I want the invention" she adds.

"I know that but Damon does and one or both of you are going get it for me" Isobel states.

"I wouldn't get it for you" I state. I'd get it for Uncle John.

"He's not going to give it to either of us" Elena tells her.

"Then the blood will be on your hands" Isobel tells us. She gets up. "It was nice meeting you both" she states and left. Elena starts to cry and Stefan comforts her. I spot Bonnie and go over to her. I order food and we she helps me take it back to the floats.

Where I happily releave Matt of looking after our son. "Was he any trouble?" I ask him.

"No, he was very well behaved. Aside from trying to pee on Caroline when she tried to help me change his nappy" Matt states. I giggle. "He's been awake either since" he adds. Tyler comes over.

"Hey man. So Caroline tells me you've been on your own for the past two weeks. Is everything okay?" Tyler asks. "Hi Mira" he adds.

"Hi Tyler" I say as I bounce Grayson.

"You're asking me about my mom. Seriously? Look, man, why don't I just tell her to give you a call when she comes back to town?" Matt asks.

"Dude, that's not what I meant okay? I'm just trying to...I don't know what to say" Tyler admits.

"Good men, don't say anything. You're a dick, end of the story" Matt tells him.

"I know" Tyler says and Matt left. "Yeah, whatever" he mutters. "How are you Mira?" he asks me.

"I'm good, see you and Matt are still on the outs" I state. "Don't worry though, you guys are best mates. You'll make up soon" I assure him.

"I hope so" he tells me. "I should get back to work" he adds and left. I go over to Matt as he works on one of the floats.

"You know, he really is sorry" I tell him. He sighs.

"I know, it'll just take some time" he states. As he lays on the ground sticking his arm under the float. "The axels need fixing" he mutters. Suddenly the float crushes his arm.

"Matt!" I shout and Grayson cries. Tyler rushes to help him with some friends. They try to remove the trailer. Stefan arrives to help lift. They remove the trailer. Matt gets free. Caroline and I rush to check on Matt. Grayson still crying. "Caroline, call an ambulance" I tell her and she takes out her phone.

"The ambulance is saying in 15-20 minutes" she tells us.

"Not good enough" I state.

"I have my car. I can take him to the hospital" Tyler offers.

"Caroline or Mira can take me" Matt states.

"I didn't drive" Care and I state.

"Stop being stubborn  Matt, Tyler is taking you. End of discussion" I state. Tyler left to get his car. We soon all get in and Tyler drives us to hospital. Turns out Matt's arm is fractured and it was put in a cast. He was given some pain meds. Then was released from hospital.

Suddenly I get a call from Bonnie. "They want me t despell the device" she tells me.

"Don't do it" I tell her.

"It's a weapon against vampires" she states.

"Have you forgotten what Damon did to you? What happened to your Grams? Don't despell it, just pretend to" I tell her.

"Ok" she says and we hung up. I go home and see Uncle John being given an ice pack by Jenna.

"What happened?" I ask.

"John fell and hit his head" Jenna tells me. As the phone rings. Jeremy answers it.

"Yeah yeah I'm fine, Uncle John hit his head. It was an accident" Jeremy tells the person.

"We're all laughing!" Jenna adds and I smile.

"But yeah I'm okay" Jeremy assures the person. Before hanging up. I go upstairs and put Grayson down. "How's Matt?" he asks me.

"He's ok, got a cast and some pain meds" I tell him. "Who was on the phone?" I ask.

"Elena" he states.

"Well you will have to fill me in on everything tomorrow. I'm tired" I tell him. He nods his head and wishes me a good night. I got ready for bed and went to sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.

(Mini time skip) third persons POV

John is on the couch alone when he got a call from Isobel. Who had dropped off his ring and the Gilbert device. "I got it. I won't fail" he assures her.

"You better not. Katherine wants all of those tomb vampires dead, and I want to add two more to that list" Isobel tells him.

"Let me guess" John says as he puts his ring back on.

"Stefan and Damon. I don't want this life for either of them" Isobel tells him.

"That was always part of the plan. Consider them gone" John assures her.

"They're our daughters, John. We owe that to them" Isobel states. "Especially Mira and our grandson" she adds.

"I know" John states. He hangs up. I pockets the device and calls it a night.
