Chapter 36: Affection in Private

---

A Slow Morning

The day started peacefully, with sunlight streaming through the windows and the faint hum of conversation from the kitchen. Y/N stretched lazily in her bed, savoring the stillness for a moment before reluctantly getting up.

She walked into the kitchen to find Max and Harvey in their usual state of chaos, attempting to make breakfast. The sight made her smile as she leaned against the counter, watching her brothers argue over the proper way to flip pancakes.

Max: "Harvey, you don’t need to flip them ten times. Let them cook!"

Harvey: "I’m trying to make them golden! You’re just mad because I’m better at this than you."

Y/N chuckled softly.

"You two always find the most random things to argue about. It’s impressive, really."

Max turned to her, grinning.

"Morning, little sis. Want to weigh in on this? Whose pancakes look better?"

Y/N raised an eyebrow, grabbing an apple from the counter instead.

"Neither. I’ll stick to my fruit, thanks."

Kenan entered the kitchen moments later, his hair slightly messy from sleep. He walked straight to Y/N, planting a quick kiss on her forehead before grabbing a cup of coffee.

"Smart move. Those pancakes look questionable at best."

Harvey groaned.

"You’re supposed to be on my side, Kenan."

Kenan smirked, leaning against the counter beside Y/N.

"Sorry, but I’m on Team Healthy. Y/N’s got the right idea."

Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn’t help smiling at his comment.

A Relaxed Afternoon

By midday, the group had gathered in the living room. Rosé and Duru were flipping through a magazine, Max and Harvey were engrossed in a heated debate with Barış and Arda over which football club had the best defense, and Y/N sat cross-legged on the floor beside Kenan, who leaned comfortably against the couch.

Kenan, as always, seemed perfectly content to observe the chaos, his gaze drifting to Y/N every now and then. She was unusually quiet today, her attention focused on scrolling through her phone.

Kenan: "You’ve been quiet. Everything okay?"

Y/N glanced up at him, offering a small smile.

"Yeah. Just enjoying the calm before the storm."

Kenan tilted his head, studying her.

"Sure about that?"

Y/N nodded, setting her phone aside.

"I’m fine, Kenan. Really."

He didn’t push further but brushed his fingers lightly against hers. Y/N glanced down at their hands, her cheeks warming slightly before she entwined her fingers with his. The small gesture didn’t go unnoticed by Rosé, who gave her a knowing smile from across the room.

A Quiet Escape

Later in the afternoon, Y/N excused herself and retreated to her room. She loved the group, but sometimes the noise and energy were overwhelming. She sat on the edge of her bed, scrolling aimlessly on her phone, when a knock at the door startled her.

Kenan didn’t wait for an invitation and stepped inside with his usual casual demeanor.

"You keep running off. Starting to think you’re avoiding me."

Y/N smirked.

"Maybe I am."

Kenan walked over, sitting beside her on the bed.

"Good luck with that."

He studied her for a moment, his gaze soft.

"You sure you’re okay? For real this time."

Y/N sighed, setting her phone aside.

"Yeah, I just... needed a break. They’re a lot, and I’m not used to having everyone here all at once."

Kenan nodded, leaning back on his hands.

"That’s fair. But you know, you don’t always have to entertain everyone. They love you for you, not because you’re the perfect host."

Y/N smiled faintly, looking down at her lap.

"I know. It’s just hard sometimes."

Kenan reached over and gently tilted her chin up.

"Hey, don’t overthink it. You’re doing great, Y/N."

Her heart swelled at his words, and she was about to thank him when his gaze shifted to her dresser. A mischievous grin spread across his face as he reached for a tube of lipstick.

Kenan: "Hey, can I try something?"

Y/N narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously.

"What now?"

Kenan held up the lipstick with a playful grin.

"Let me put this on you."

Y/N blinked, caught off guard.

"Why are you so obsessed with my makeup?"

Kenan shrugged, twisting the cap open.

"Because I can. Come on, trust me."

Y/N sighed but gave in, leaning forward slightly.

"Fine. But if you mess it up, you’re buying me a new one."

Kenan chuckled, tilting her chin up again.

"Stay still. I’ve got this."

He carefully applied the lipstick, his thumb brushing against her jaw as he worked. Y/N couldn’t help but laugh at how focused he looked.

Y/N: "You’re taking this way too seriously."

Kenan leaned back, admiring his handiwork with a satisfied grin.

"Not bad, huh?"

Y/N grabbed her phone, checking her reflection in the camera.

"Okay, I’ll admit it. You didn’t ruin it."

Kenan smirked, leaning closer.

"See? I told you I’m good at this."

Before Y/N could respond, Kenan leaned in and kissed her. The move was so sudden and unexpected that Y/N froze, her heart skipping a beat. The kiss was soft and lingering, and when he pulled back, his eyes sparkled with mischief.

Y/N: "Kenan, you can't just..."

He grinned.

"I can, actually. And I’d do it again."

True to his word, Kenan leaned in and kissed her again, this time with a little more confidence. When he finally pulled away, her cheeks were flushed, and her heart was racing.

Y/N: "You’re impossible."

Kenan laughed, brushing a strand of hair out of her face.

"And yet, you still like me."

Y/N groaned, burying her face in her hands.

"Stop being so smug."

Kenan gently pulled her hands away, his expression softening.

"Can’t help it. You bring it out of me."

Ending the Day

The evening passed in a blur of quiet moments and lighthearted conversations. Y/N and Kenan eventually rejoined the group, though she couldn’t shake the memory of the kiss. Every time their eyes met, her heart fluttered, and Kenan’s small, knowing smiles didn’t help.

Max and Harvey eventually called it a night, retreating to their guest room. Rosé and Duru settled on the couch, scrolling through their phones, while Barış and Arda debated whether they should leave or stay.

Kenan and Y/N found themselves back on the balcony, the cool night air wrapping around them. The city lights twinkled below, casting a soft glow over their quiet moment.

Kenan: "Long day, huh?"

Y/N nodded, leaning against the railing.

"Yeah, but it was a good one. I’m glad everyone’s here."

Kenan stood beside her, his hands resting on the railing as he glanced at her.

"You seem lighter tonight. Happier."

Y/N smiled faintly.

"Maybe I am. It’s nice to have days like this. No pressure, no stress."

Kenan nodded, his voice soft.

"You deserve more days like this."

Y/N looked at him, her heart swelling with gratitude.

"So do you, Kenan. Thank you... for everything."

Kenan smiled, reaching for her hand and lacing his fingers with hers.

"Always."

As the stars glittered above them, Y/N felt a rare sense of peace, knowing she wasn’t alone in her journey.

Ending Note

The day was filled with warmth, laughter, and quiet moments of love. For Y/N, it was a reminder that amidst all the chaos of her life, she had someone who made her feel seen and cared for.
