Chapter 102
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 102
Camila immediately called Erica to ask if she was behind the incident. Erica burst into laughter. âNot me, but she totally deserved it! Haha, karma hits fast, doesnât it?â
âIf it wasnât you, then it must really be their own fault, Camila said.
âExactly, itâs karma! Itâs so satisfying. Iâd thank that tattooed guy in person if I met him. Can you believe he didnât even take the ten thousand bucks? What a hero!â
Camila hummed in agreement, âUnder the Food Safety Act, theyâd only be liable for a thousand dollars in compensation. Not taking ten thousand is really suspicious.â
âDonât overthink it. Just consider it divine intervention sending down a vigilante.â
After hanging up, Camila called Cole. âI know the owner of that diner. She opened it there just to spite me. I have no clue about the cockroach incident, but sheâll definitely blame me. Iâm worried she might retaliate against my mom. Please keep an eye out, Cole, and donât mention this to Mom. I donât want her to worry.â
Camila explained the situation. After her mom, Cole was the most trustworthy person.
âSo thatâs what was going on. Donât worry, Iâll make sure your mom is safe,â Cole reassured her, patting his chest.
Thanks, Cole.â
âLetâs skip the formalities.â
Rubbing her temples, Camila was genuinely worried that Tabitha might take vengeance on her mom.
Indeed, Tabitha wasnât the type to let things slide after a setback. She immediately tried to orchestrate a similar food safety scandal for Claire, but no one dared to take the job. A powerful figure had declared protection over Claireâs diner, warning others not to foolishly court death.
Tabitha was furious at home, but Betty harshly slapped her. âStop making trouble! Your father is still detained because of your antics, and weâve lost millions in contracts. How could I have given birth to someone as dull as you? Iâve cut off all your credit cards. Donât expect another penny from me!â
âYou canât just cut off my cards!â Tabitha held her cheek, tears welling in her eyes.
âYouâre useless! Marry someone soon, and stop embarrassing us!â Bettyâs finger nearly poked Tabithaâs nose. âIâve already accepted a proposal from Griffin of Big Win Meats. Youâre getting married this year.â

Bettyâs words cut deep into Tabithaâs heart. âMom, they are pork sellers! Heâs nearly fifty, divorced twice, and has three kids. You want me to be their stepmom? Iâm only twentyâtwo!â
âSo what if he sells pork? His family owns over a dozen slaughterhouses, and their fresh products hold 20% of the market share at the Fairmount market. Once heâs gone, all that money will be yours.â
âI wonât marry him! Why are you doing this to me?â she screamed, her voice filled with despair and helplessness.
She grabbed a vase nearby and smashed it on the floor. The ceramic shattered into countless pieces, mirroring her shattered state. Then, she picked up a family photo frame from the table and threw it against the wall, glass shards flying everywhere.
âLock her in her room,â Betty instructed the servant. âOnce your dad is out, weâll arrange a meeting to set the wedding date!â
