Chapter 107
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 107
Letâs go, Camila. Mr. Connor skipped lunch today, and itâs rare for him to suggest dinner,â Alan said.
Camila blinked in surprise. Mr. Connor hadnât eaten lunch? But she had seen him with a sandwich at noon.
It was just embarrassing. Without supervision, he wouldnât eat, just like a child.
Eventually, the three of them took the elevator downstairs. Inside the elevator, Alan gave Connor a halfâsmiling look. Having worked beside Mr. Connor for years, Alan understood him well. He knew Connor had a soft spot for Camila, special attention he didnât even show to Haylie.
Once they reached the restaurant, they ordered their meals.
Alan glanced at Connor and then turned to Camila, asking, âDid you go on a date today?â
Connor sneaked a quick look at Alan.
âA date?â Camila paused before laughing, âMore like a blind date.â
Connor raised an eyebrow and then furrowed it, his expression complex. âCamila, youâre only 24, and your family is already setting you up?â
Camila looked at Alan and nodded with a smile. âYeah, my mom is quite anxious.â
Alan tilted his head slightly, asking, âHow did the blind date go today?â
Connor glanced at her again. Though he seemed easyâgoing, his presence was imposing, strong enough that even without speaking, he could make one feel pressured.
âIt was really just to appease my mom. The guy probably got quite a scare from me,â Camila chuckled.
She quickly added loyally, âRight now, work is my top priority.â Her voice was clear and firm.
Noticing a small smile on Connorâs lips, Camila felt her brownânosing had been acknowledged, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
Alan chuckled, a hint of melancholy in his eyes. âI turned thirty this year, and coming home to an empty house feels lonely. Iâm thinking about settling down.â
His words came from the heart. Having grown up in an orphanage, he longed for a family of his own. After graduating, he joined Passos Corporation and later came to work with Connor, working tirelessly all year round with no time to meet women.
âWhat kind of women do you like? I can ask my mom to keep an eye out for you,â Camila offered.
âThanks! I like someone warm, considerateâ¦â
As they spoke, the food arrived, and Connor glanced at Alan, tapping on the table. âLetâs eat.â
The next day.
The weather was scorching. Camila brewed a cup of herbal tea and just took a sip to soothe her throat. Then, footsteps approached, and Camila looked up to see Howard, dressed casually, walking in with a smile. âGood morning, Camila.â
Camila paused, as she didnât have him scheduled for today. âGood morning, Mr. Howard. Are you looking for Mr. Connor?â
âNo, I was out playing golf this morning and passed by, so I brought two cups of coffee, one for Mr. Connor and one for you,â Howard said with a smile.
Camila, surprised that Howard had thought to bring her coffee, accepted it with a smile, âThank you.â
Connor emerged from his office, noticing the coffee in Camilaâs hand. His brow furrowed slightly.
Camila looked at him and explained, âMr. Howard brought you coffee.â
Connor nodded, then turned to Howard. âI apologize. My schedule is packed today. I canât host you, Iâm sorry.â
âBring me last monthâs financial report,â he said to Camila, expressionless.
âSure.â Camila set down her coffee, accidentally knocking Howardâs car keys off the table. âSorry about that.â She bent down to pick
them up.
Dressed in a ribbonâtied Vâneck blouse and a formâfitting skirt, her slender waistline accentuated her figure as she bent over, catching Howardâs involuntary gaze.
