Chapter 116
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 116
Erica looked momentarily surprised upon hearing Camilaâs words, but she quickly regained her composure and asked, âJealous?â
Camila let out a resigned laugh. âWhat I mean is that heâs not into me because he shouldnât have let me see that lipstick mark.â
Erica thought for a moment. âMaybe he wanted you to see it? Perhaps he was just testing you and trying to get your reaction.â
Camila was taken aback, amused, âTesting me? Why?â
Maybe heâs interested in you and wants to see if youâd get jealous or upset,â Erica suggested.
Have you ever considered that he might actually be into you?â She pressed on.
Camila fell silent. âHe and I are from different worlds. I donât want to think about it. Right now, I just want to focus on my job. Nothing
else matters.â
Erica shook her head. âPeople who are selfâmade donât really hold onto class notions. Itâs not like heâs from some oldâmoney dynasty.â
âLetâs not talk about him anymore. Iâm so full. Letâs pay the bill and go for a walk,â Camila changed the subject, signaling the waiter for the check.
Erica clicked her tongue. âAlright, no mentioning that man.â
The two left the restaurant and started walking towards the overpass.
There werenât many people on the overpass, but there were a few stalls selling trinkets. One particularly noticeable old man stood out, with a crystal ball laid out in front of him, draped in a dark robe, exuding a mysterious yet benevolent aura. He seemed to have poor vision and was wearing a pair of sunglasses.
While the old man was distracted, a scruffy little boy stealthily took some money from his open purse. The old man felt someone touch his purse, and, groping inside, he found it empty. He chuckled, seemingly not too bothered by it.
Camila saw this and shouted angrily, âHey! Give the money back!â She chased after the boy, but unfortunately, her high heels slowed her down, and the boy vanished in no time.
With her hands on her hips, Camila fumed as she watched the boy disappear from sight. If not for her shoes, she would have caught him. Her morning runs werenât for nothing.
Erica, panting, caught up to her and asked breathlessly, âDid he get away?â
âYes,â Camila frowned.
Camila held Ericaâs arm and walked back to the old manâs stall. She asked softly, âSir, are you alright?â
The old man looked up, smiled, and said, âItâs alright.â He seemed to have seen through the trivial disturbances of the world and didnât mind such small matters.
Camila glanced at the old manâs stall and sat down, saying, âSir, could you read my fortune?â
The old man nodded with a smile, âGive me your hand.â
Camila extended her hand, and the old man gently touched her palm lines, withdrawing his hand after a moment. He spoke slowly, âMy dear, you are destined for great wealth and love, cherished by your parents, respected by your siblingsâ¦â
Camila looked at Erica, who pursed her lips, holding back a laugh.
The old man continued, âThe man meant for you appeared when you were seventeen, and you share a deep connection. He is talented. smart, witty, and capable. He plays a significant role in your life. But your journey together wonât be smooth sailing. It will involve some twists and challenges. Only through these tests will your love grow stronger.â
Camila nodded, taking out a hundred dollars and placing it in the old manâs purse, âThank you, sir. I wish you good health. I must be going
Enca, linking arms with Camila, walked away before whispering with a chuckle, âThat didnât seem accurate at all
