Chapter 117
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 117
Camila smiled gently, nodding in agreement.
âBut thatâs a bit too farâfetched. At least most fortuneâtellers make some sense,â Erica joked with a laugh. âThe funniest part is that your true love supposedly appeared at 17, when you were still in your senior year of high school, right? Let me think, who could that possibly be?â
She pondered for a halfâminute, then shook her head.mâI canât think of anyone.â
âI never really believed in fortuneâtelling to begin with. I just wanted to give the old man some compensation,â Camila said with a smile.
They strolled leisurely to the fabric store..
âCome help me pick out some fabrics,â Camila suggested:
What do you need the fabric for?â Erica asked, puzzled.
âI want to make a shawl for Mr. Connorâs mother,â Camila explained with a smile.
When they entered the fabric store, Erica was dazzled by the variety of fabrics. Camila headed straight for the cashmere section, expertly picking out her choices.
âA camelâcolored shawl would suit Mr. Connorâs mother perfectly,â Camila explained. âShe has such a refined air about her, and this color is both classy and versatile.â
Erica nodded in agreement, always impressed by Camilaâs unique taste. âItâs a pity. You could have gone to fashion school, but you got sick right during your finals. If that hadnât happened, you might have become a brilliantâfashion designer by now,â Erica said with a hint of regret.
Camila laughed, selfâdeprecatingly. âItâs just my luck.â
Tuming to Erica, she added, âThings are pretty good now, though. I have a highâpaying job with great benefits. I have nothing to regret, really.
Erica looked at Camila, feeling deeply moved, âMaybe this is all just fate.â
Camila chuckled, looking down at her blouse. She raised an eyebrow at Erica and proudly said, âEven though Iâm not a professional designer, making my own clothes is no big deal. Look, I sewed this blouse. Who could tell?â
Erica nodded vigorously, her eyes shining. âExactly! Even without formal training, your design skills are on par with those bigâname designers!â
Camila responded with a laugh, âHehe, right? If one day I lose my job, Iâll just start an online shop and be my own boss! But before that, I need to do well at Mr. Connorâs company to save up some capital.â
Erica immediately became enthusiastic. âSure! And when I become the editorâinâchief one day, Iâll give you several full pages to showcase your talent!â
Camila grinned slyly, âHaha, then Iâll rely on my future editorâinâchief! Hereâs to your bright future and rapid rise!â
They laughed together.
After returning home, Camila took a shower and changed into her pajamas. She took out her precious sewing machine from the box, gently caressing it, her eyes gleaming with détermination.
She had saved up to buy this sewing machine while working partâtime in college. Though it wasnât the most professional model, it was sufficient for her needs.
She spread out the highâquality cashmere fabric she bought from the fabric store, carefully measuring and calculating. She held a ruler In her hands, making light marks on the fabric with chalk.
The gift she was making for Connorâs mother had to be perfect. After much thought, she decided to handâmake a shawl. She believed that such a gift would not only show sincerity but also match Ericaâs elegant demeanor
ing a deep breath, Camila began meticulously cutting the fabric.
