Chapter 35
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 35
Camila asked, âYou earn over $30,000 as a salesperson. So, the manager of the Capital Solutions branch must be earning a lot, right?â
âThe branch manager? Drew sipped tas tea
âDo you know Jian?â
âOf course, heâs my boss! You know him?â Drewâs eyes lit up.
Camila shook her head with a smile. âIâve heard your company pays well. A friend of mine aims to reach his level. Do you know how much he cams?â She didnât mention Lily to Drew, fearing he might slip up in front of Julian.
Drew said enviously, âBased on our performance, he made $110,000 just from commissions last month.â
Camila frowned, âYour company doesnât split the salaries, does it?â
Drew looked surprised âCamila, how did you know? Our base pay is public, but bonuses are private. The finance department says itâs for tax reasonsâ
Camilaâs expression darkened. âWhatâs the annual return on investment for your company?â
Drew replied, â8 percent.â
Camila was shocked. Such a high return made her doubt the legality of the company. Drew was new to the working world, and lacked experience and vigilance, which made him vulnerable to scams.
âHave you looked into the companyâs projects? Do you know if the targets are legitimate?â
Bang!
Melinda, overhearing their conversation, slammed her fork on the table. âCamila, what are you implying? Jealous that Drewâs company is doing well and pays high, and you start to spread rumors?â
Camila responded calmly, âWhy would I spread rumors about Capital Solutions? Iâm worried itâs not legitimate, and it could affect Drew.â âThereâs nothing illegitimate! We just invested $2 million last month. They have projects both domestically and internationally, and even the royal family of Country T has invested, Melinda argued loudly.
âMelinda!â Riley scolded, and Melinda realized her mistake and fell silent.
â$2 million? Where did you get that money!â Camila raised her voice.
The room fell silent, and Claire looked bewildered at everyone.
âWhatâs the fuss about? I mortgaged the house,â their grandmother spoke up.
âYou mortgaged the house?â Claireâs pupils shrank as she stared intently at her mother.
âInvesting in the company can make us money, about $100,000 a year. We can pay off the mortgage and still profit substantially,â Riley explained.
âI paid for half of that house, but you mortgaged it without even discussing it with me?â Claire looked coldly at her family. âItâs in my name. Why canât I decide on my own?â Camilaâs grandmother said shamelessly.
Camilaâs eyes were filled with unspeakable sadness, âGrandma, what are you talking about? My mom scrimped and saved all her life to accumulate some money. You forced her and my uncle to buy that house for you, and for fairness, it was put in your name. But how can you now claim itâs solely yours?â
Camilaâs grandmother, embarrassed and angry, slammed her hand on the table. âWhen I die, wonât it all be yours? Whatâs there to argue about? You are waiting for me to die now, arenât you!â
âMom, thatâs not what we mean. You mortgaged the house, and we didnât even have the right to know?â Claire scoffed coldly.
âThis company is unreliable. Pull the money out,â Camila said to Drew.
âI canât, Camila. We signed a contract, Drew replied weakly.
âItâs just about money, isnât it? You think weâre making money, so youâre jealous,â Melinda said disdainfully.
âReally blinded by money. Fine, from now on, you donât need to give me money for the household,â Camilaâs grandmother declared.
