Chapter 40
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 40
Camila looked at him puzzled. âTake it⦠where?â
âFrom now on, the driver will deliver two lunch boxes, one for you,â Connor said nonchalantly.
âFor me?â Camila was flattered.
Connor looked at her with a face full of disdain. âLook at you, youâre as thin as a bean sprout. A gust of wind could knock you over. Youâve only been at headquarters for a short while and youâve lost weight. People might think I am mistreating my assistant.â
Camila was a bit surprised. Indeed, she had lost a couple of pounds since arriving at headquarters, but she had slimmed down exactly where she needed to, without losing an ounce where it mattered.
She straightened her back, showing off her shapely figure, and said indignantly, âBean sprout? You call this figure a bean sprout?â
Fine, you have a great figure,â Connor chuckled slyly, then quickly changed the subject, âHow are the midâyear performance reports coming along? Donât waste time going out to eat. Have a quick lunch and get back to work.â
Camila gave a professional fake smile. âTypical capitalist, almost had me moved.â She thought to herself.
She picked up her own lunch, smiled, and said, âUnderstood, Iâll eat out so as not to delay work.â
Returning to her desk, she glanced at the door of the presidentâs office and reluctantly texted her lunch buddy, Tina.
Camila: [I canât go out for lunch with you anymore. Mr. Connor wants me to rush the work.]
Tina: [What? He used to be a nice guy. Now heâs even squeezing your lunch break?]
Camila: [Well, heâs a capitalist, after all. Gotta eat fast and keep working.]
When she opened her lunch, Camilaâs gloomy mood was instantly healed by the delicious and free meal. Considering that the food was delicious and free, she unilaterally forgave Connor.
After a satisfying meal, she cleaned up her lunch box and opened the document to continue working.
When lunch break came, a colleague turned off the office lights. Camila was typing in the dark when Connor came out of his office and placed his finished lunch box on her desk.
Your computer screen is too bright. Itâs disturbing my rest.â
Camila was taken aback. Furious, she nearly cursed out loud. He rushed her with work and now complained that her screen was too bright, affecting his rest?
She gritted her teeth and said, âMr. Connor, you just need to press a button, and this transparent window will frost over. The screen brightness shouldnât bother youâ¦â
Connor: âIt does. Go get some rest. Just have the report ready by the beginning of next month.â
Camila was stunned. Half an hour ago he wouldnât let her go out to eat and waste time, and now he complained her screen was too bright for his rest. What was this?
She turned off her computer screen and managed a rigid smile, âAlright, sir, whatever you say.â
Connor watched her shut down her laptop before he returned to his office to continue reading documents,
Camila had a wonderful nap. After the break, she returned to her workstation, refreshed.
As she typed away, a stylish young wornan in a white sleeveless, highâcollared dress gracefully made her way to the presidentâs office. Her hair was artfully arranged, and she confidently walked in her high heels.
Camila stood up and smiled, âHello, are you looking for Mr. Connor?â
The woman smiled back at Camila, saying, âYes, Iâm here to see him.â
At that moment, Connor opened his office door, frowning at the woman.
The woman gave Camila aâmeaningful look, chuckled softly, and called out to Connor in a saccharine voice. âConny.â
Camila shuddered at the sound.
