Chapter 41
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 41
Connor looked distinctly unimpressed as he said coldly, âStop it.â
The young woman chuckled softly, linking her arm with Connorâs and following him into the office. The door closed behind them.
Camila shivered slightly, dispelling the goosebumps on her skin as she walked to the break room to make some coffee.
Inside the CEOâs office.
âIs that Camila?â the woman asked with a graceful smile, sitting elegantly on an armchair.
âWhatâs it to you?â Connor retorted from his position on the couch.
She propped her chin on her hand, her smile playing on her lips. âI heard your new assistant is quite beautiful, and that you have a soft spot for her.â
She didnât care much for rumors, but lending his apartment to an assistant didnât sound like a simple employerâemployee relationship to her
âNonsense,â Connor glanced at her briefly.
Camila knocked gently on the door after preparing the coffee. âCome in,â the woman said quickly, before Connor could respond.
The moment Camila entered, both of them fell silent, and the office was unusually quiet. The womanâs gaze followed Camila, her eyes filled with a benign curiosity.
Camila offered politely, âCoffee, please.â
Connor instructed, âJust set it down.â
The woman watched Camila, her heart chuckling silently, âThank you, youâve been a great help.â
Camila smiled politely, âYouâre welcome. Let me know if you need a refill or anything else.â
âNo need, sheâll be leaving soon,â said Connor, his face expressionless.
âIâve just arrived and youâre already eager to see me off?â the woman said with a pout, her tone playful.
Connorâs gaze was sharp, and the woman burst into laughter at his look.
Camila, feeling that it was time to exit, set the coffee down on the coffee table and quickly left, closing the door softly behind her.
âThe bar opens this Sunday. Why donât you bring Camila along?â the woman finally got back to the point.
âOvertime on weekends needs to be paid,â Connor glanced at her.
*Stingy, pulling the overtime card, really? Youâre a shareholder,, At least show your face at the opening,â she huffed.
âIâm busy. Iâve said Iâll only invest money, nothing else,â Connor replied.
âDoesnât your sisterâs word mean anything?â she crossed her arms, frowning.
âYouâre only two months older than me, so stop acting like an older sister,â Connor retorted.
âOlder by a day is still older. If you donât support me, Iâll report you to your dad.â
âRita, how old are you? Childish much?â
Rita, the only daughter of Connorâs aunt from the Passos family, was the only one among his cousins with whom Connor had a good relationship. They, along with Logan, had grown up together and were very close.
âSo what if I am childish?â Patting Connorâs shoulder earnestly, Rita said, âI think Camilaâs quite nice, much better than Haylie. Conny, your taste has finally improved.â
âSheâs just my assistant. Donât listen to Loganâs nonsense.â
Rita scoffed, âDo you think Iâm blind? Do you think the way you look at her is the same as you looked at Alan?â
âThatâs enough on this topic,â Connor said sternly.
Rita knew better than to push it and possibly harm their relationship, and quickly changed the subject back to the barâs prospects and plans. Before leaving, she threw out, âHonestly, I donât think you even like Haylieâ
Connorâs gaze fell. What did that even mean.
âSee you this weekend.â Rita made a point of walking over to Camila, smiling.
Camila looked bewildered as she watched Rita, who chuckled softly and waved goodbye as she left.
Saturday meant there was no need to go to Cedarhill Estate. After a quick shower and tying her hair into a bun, Camila dressed in a Tâshirt and shorts and drove to the office.
