Chapter 56
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 56
*Connor, are you out of your mind?â Steven exploded, his voice filled with incredulity. âDo you have any idea how much my shares are worth? Can you even afford them?â
âI can afford whatever they cost. You need to sign the agreement today,â Connor retorted sharply.
Surrounded by an audience of onlookers, Steven gritted his teeth and sunk into the couch. âI invested a hundred million when I bought in, and by todayâs market value, itâs worth at least a billion. Iâll take two hundred million today, and the rest must be in my account within three days.â
âFine,â Connor replied coolly. âAlan, make sure to add these terms to the contract and transfer two hundred million immediately after itâs signed.â
âAlright.â Steven was skeptical that Connor could gather such a substantial amount in liquidity within just three days.
After whispering briefly to Alan, Connor turned his gaze towards Camila. He reached out, gently grasping her arm. âCamila.â
Camila jerked her hand away, her face etched with disappointment, her breathing rapid and heavy. Her fists were clenched tight
she was struggling to control her emotions and prevent herself from exploding.
The room was thick with tension, suffocating, and the onlooking waitstaff silently slipped away.
âIâll have the driver take you home,â Connor said after a moment, his voice soft.
as if
Camila snatched her purse from the couch and stormed out. Throughout the ride, the car was silent, the scenery outside speeding by. Alex glanced at Camila occasionally, finally breaking the silence. âIâm sorry. I knew Mr. Steven was not to be trusted, and yet I left you alone with him.â
Camila chuckled lightly, âItâs not your fault, no need to apologize.â She felt a surge of indignation at being sent to meet with a lecher. Itâs just so appalling.
âNo, I usually wait in the car when I drop off colleagues,â Alex said guiltily. When he had been on the phone with Alan, Mr. Connor had snatched the phone away and given him a severe reprimand. âMr. Connor came as soon as he knew. Iâm sorry, I almost let something bad happen to you.â
Camila stared at Alex in disbelief. She had been wrong about Connor.
âIâm alright, arenât I?â she said with a smile, clearing away the gloom.
As she calmed down, she began to feel uneasy. If Steven pulled his investment now, it would significantly impact the company. He held 20% of the shares, and if Connor couldnât buy them, other shareholders might, and the control of Future Inc. could change hands.
Would Connorâs hardâbuilt company change ownership just like that?
Back home, her worries only grew. Maybe if she had been more patient and tactful, the situation wouldnât have gotten so tense. Did Connor really have that much money?
After much thought, she decided to wait for Connor at Cedarhill Estate. Entering the security code, Camila pushed open the door. The lights instantly illuminated her, catching her off guard. She hadnât expected the house to be brightly lit.
Had he returned?
As she stepped into the living room, she saw an unfamiliar woman sitting gracefully on the couch, absorbed in a book. The womanâs delicate and dignified demeanor exuded a calm and gentle aura.
Camila felt awkward, unsure whether to greet the woman or turn around and leave.
