Chapter 57
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 57
Just then, the woman looked up and saw Camila. A flash of surprise crossed her eyes, but it quickly faded into calmness as she smiled slightly, set down her book, and stood up.
âHello, are you looking for Connor?â the womanâs voice was gentle and clear.
Camila nodded, somewhat awkwardly replying, âHello, I am Mr. Connorâs assistant. I have some work matters to discuss with him.â
âWork matters?â The woman glanced out the window into the pitch darkness, then smiled lightly. âAt this hour, isnât it a bit inappropriate for a woman to visit her CEOâs house?â
Camila froze, a wave of inexplicable nervousness rising within her. Could this be Connorâs girlfriend?
The woman appeared to be in her early thirties, graceful and beautiful, with an innate nobility that was impossible to ignore. Camilaâs face showed a trace of embarrassment and anxiety. She worried about causing a misunderstanding. She quickly explained, âDonât get me wrong. I am Mr. Connorâs assistant. Tomorrow is the shareholdersâ meeting, and I need to coordinate some details with Mr. Connor.â
âYou seem a bit nervous?â The woman smiled, looking at the sofa like a hostess, âWhy donât you sit down and we talk?â
âIâm fine.â
Camila actually wanted to leave immediately, but felt that it would be rude to do so. She was also concerned about potentially affecting the womanâs relationship with Connor. Thus, she reluctantly sat down, clasping her hands tightly together, trying to calm her emotions.
âWhatâs your name?â the woman asked.
âCamila.â
âCamila.â the woman repeated, with a meaningful look.
âWell, since Mr. Connor isnât here, I wonât disturb you further.â Camila suddenly stood up.
The woman looked puzzled and gently grasped Camilaâs hand, saying, âDonât go, donât you still need to discuss work with him?â Camila was torn between staying and leaving, standing awkwardly in place.
The womanâs gentle laughter broke the silence. âHave you eaten yet? Iâve made some soup for Connor, come have a bowl.â
Without giving Camila a chance to refuse, the woman led her by the hand to the dining table. She unscrewed a thermos, smiling. âChicken soup with herbs is great for beauty and antiâaging, very suitable for young women. Connor really misses out.â
âI canât, itâs made for Mr. Connor. I shouldnât.â Camila looked horrified.
âItâs okay. Itâs the same if you have some.â The woman had already served a bowl of soup and placed it in front of Camila.
Camila smiled stiffly.
âPlease, have a taste.â the woman urged.
The aroma from the bowl was tantalizing, and looked very nourishing. Camila took a sip and exclaimed, âWow, this soup is delicious!â
âOf course, I simmered it for hours. Itâs lowâfat and nutritious. You donât have to worry about gaining weight,â the woman said with a pleased expression.
âIt really tastes great.â
âIf you like it, I can make it for you often,â the woman looked at Camila earnestly.
Camila shook her head with a smile, âToday I just got lucky because of Mr. Connor.â
The woman propped her chin, looking at Camila. The womanâs eyes were like two bright stars, twinkling with warmth. She smiled, âSeeing you makes me happier than seeing him.â
Her smile seemed very sincere to Camila.
Camila gradually relaxed. âMiss, b
should I address you?â
âMiss?â The woman laughed behind her hand, âYou can call me âMissâ for now, and maybe change it later.
âMrs. Passos?â Camila ventured.
The woman smiled mysteriously, âYes, thatâs not wrong *
