Chapter 68
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 68
By doing this, she thought Connor could not see her.
How could Alan be so careless!
She had clearly instructed Alan over the phone to come and bail her out himself, and under no circumstances was Connor to find out.
Everyone was curious about the chiefâs demeanor, their gazes uniformly fixed towards the entrance.
Connor walked into the room at a measured pace. He was tall and stood straight, dressed in a finely tailored black suit, his handsome features exuding a mysterious and noble aura. His lips curled into a halfâsmile, though his eyes remained icy cold.
He surveyed everyone in the mediation room without betraying any emotion before he finally spoke, âTanner, I appreciate you coming out this late at night.â
âNo trouble at all, just doing my duty,â the chief replied with a smile.
âCan take her home now?â
âOf course, of course, just need a signature.â
The officer handed over the paperwork, and Connor quickly signed his name.
The room fell quiet except for the rustling of papers and the swift strokes of the pen.
All eyes were on Connor.
Erica nudged Camila gently with her elbow. With a smirk in her eyes, she glanced at the man signing and then back at Camila, as if to ask: Is that Connor?
Camila frowned slightly and nodded. A mix of surprise and delight spread across Ericaâs face as she stifled her giggles.â
Tabitha watched the scene, her teeth gritted in frustration, her fingers whiteâknuckled as they gripped the edge of her chair.
The man they had always underestimated was now associated with such a highâprofile figure. One Rita wasnât enough. Now there was this man, a figure even the city police chief was wary of.
Jealousy and hatred flared in Tabithaâs eyes.
Connor glanced at the woman with her head lowered and said lightly, âArenât you leaving yet?â
Camila looked down, took a deep breath, and slowly stood up, walking towards him.
Connor noticed her face seemed swollen under her long hair and frowned as he brushed her hair aside.
There was a clear handprint on her face. He reviewed the surveillance footage and saw no such slap.
âWhat happened to your face?â he demanded.
âHe did it!â Erica suddenly stood up, pointing at Marc, and exclaimed, âHe slapped her right here.â
Marcâs heart skipped a beat, and he glared at her angrily. A man even the chief greeted with a smile was not someone he could afford to offend. He immediately attempted a conciliatory smile, âSheâs my daughter.â
Connor stared at the man, his eyes cold. He had seen Camilaâs file; under âfather,â she had written ânone.â
âMr. Tanner, assaulting someone in a police station is a serious offense, isnât it?â Connorâs voice was stern, his gaze chilling.
âIndeed.â Then, the chief looked towards the deputy chief and said, âNow you know what to do?â
The deputy chief immediately nodded, âAssault causing minor injuries, especially in a police station in front of officers, is a severe offense. According to the public security regulations, he should be detained for fifteen days.â
Marc and Tabitha were stupefied. Erica was so thrilled she almost clapped her hands in delight.
âSirâ¦â Marcâs voice trembled.
The deputy chief couldnât wait to distance himself and turned away, refusing to look at Març.
âCamila, Iâm your father⦠Marc had no choice but to plead with Camila.
âI donât have a father,â she replied coldly, her chin slightly raised.
âDadâ¦â Tabitha looked up, tears swirling in her eyes.
âItâs all your fault! Really, having a daughter is such a curse.â Marc glared at her, then at Camila again.
