Chapter 73
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 73
Erica wrapped her arms around Camilaâs shoulders, laughing.
Camila pinched her nose. âStop laughing! You and your mom left me at the police station last night. I havenât even settled the score with you yet.
That was just to give you guys a chance, but alas, Connor is such a blockhead. He let you go even with such a perfect opportunity last night, Erica sighed.
âStop making things up. He has no feelings for me.â
âNo feelings? When he knew Marc slapped you, he was furious. He even talked to the chief of police to have your dad detained for fifteen days.â
Erica didnât believe in platonic relationships between men and women. The accident last night didnât require Connorâs direct involvement, nor the need to involve the chief of police.
If Connor didnât have feelings for Camila, sheâd eat her hat.
âWith your flair for exaggeration, you should be writing novels, not wasting your talents as a fashion editor. We really are just boss and subordinate.â
âWhich boss would go to the police station in the middle of the night to bail someone out? Camila, when will you see the light?â
âAlright, alright, if he ever pursues me, Iâll tell you first thing,â Camila said helplessly.
She felt that Connorâs care for her stemmed from their reckless oneânight stand. Perhaps it was more about compensation.
Erica sighed.
âBelieve it or not, if I called my supervisor, heâd let me stay in there overnight. If I disturbed him and his boyfriend on a beautiful weekend, heâd curse me to kingdom come.â
The three of them sat on the carpet, laughing heartily.
âLily, why did you bring so much stuff?â Camila asked.
âIâve been learning nail art lately. Once I sell the house, I plan to buy a small place and open a nail salon.â
âSo you plan to use me as a guinea pig today?â
âSmart! Donât worry, Iâve mastered the basic styles.â
âFine, I volunteer as tribute for your nail art business,â Camila said as she stretched out her slender, fair hands, neatly manicured.
âIâll pick a nude color that suits your job.â
Lily took out various nail art tools, focusing intently as she carefully filed and trimmed Camilaâs nails.
It had been a long time since Camila had seen such a look of concentration on Lilyâs face. For years after her marriage, Lily had
lived humbly, her days filled with endless chores, spending every penny under someone elseâs scrutiny. Gradually, she lost her sense of
selfâworth.
Fortunately, Lily had finally escaped that dreadful man and the wrong marriage, rediscovering herself.
The Passos family estate was a classic and grand building, covering 2.62 square kilometers.
Itâs divided into six sections, the central main house and four winged pavilions. The main house was Rayâs residence, the pavilions were the homes of Rayâs four children, and another building housed the servants.
The Passos family members always gathered at the main house for meals.
Carsonâs family lived in Cloud Pavilion, including his daughter Pamela and sonâinâlaw Silas.
Hughâs family resided in Moon Pavilion, with his sons Jaiden and Sam.
Heart Pavilion was where Victoria, the third/child, lived. They usually returned only for holidays.
River Pavilion was the residence of Connorâs parents.
âConnor, itâs been a long time since youâve been home, we all miss you. Weâre in the same city, why is it so hard to see you?â Madison embraced Connor warmly, her words filled with deep longing.
Madison hailed from a prominent family in Harbor City. Though her face showed signs of age, her youthful elegance was still apparent.
Grandma, Iâm back now,â Connor smiled.
Oh, look who it is, our Mr. Connor is back, no wonder Grandfather is in such a good mood today,â Carsonâs wife, Evelyn, said gracefully, twirling a pearlâembellished scarf, smiling.
