Chapter 93
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 93
âHello. Camila didnât know who was on the other end of the line but greeted politely anyway.
âCamila, itâs me, Rita.â The voice laughed over the phone. âI just realized I didnât have your number, so I asked Connor for it since you were together. Letâs go shopping tomorrow!â
âIâm on a business trip with Mr. Connor in Oakville. Tomorrowâ¦â Camila glanced up at Connor.
Connor put down the documents he was holding and said, âWe still have two meetings tomorrow.â
Rita clearly heard Connorâs response and clicked her tongue. âHe really works you hard. He has you traveling on the weekend, too.â
The voice on the other end was loud, and Camila chuckled awkwardly. âHow about Sunday?â
âIâm off to Australia on Sunday to visit my grandparents. I wonât be back for a month,â Rita pouted.
Connor leaned in closer, the space between them so tight that his breath lightly brushed Camilaâs cheek. Camila stared at him, unsure if he was reaching for the phone or what.
âTake good care of the old folks,â Connor spoke into the phone, their mouths merely inches apart. Camila nervously pursed her lips.
After Connor finished speaking, he stretched out his hand to take the phone from her ear, his long fingers darkening the screen as he ended the call.
Camila was still in a daze.
Do you want to go?â His deep voice sounded close to her ear:
Camila shook her head, her expression serious. âWork is important.â
A small smile played at the comers of Connorâs mouth. âStill up for more?â
She shook her head again.
âPack up then. Letâs go.â
âRight, Mr. Connor, should I make reservations at a hotel?â Camila responded. She had checked nearby hotels, finding no fiveâstar or even fourâstar accommodations close by.
âI have an apartment nearby,â Connor said.
Camila was slightly stunned.
With his hands in his pockets, Connor leaned lazily against the door frame, waiting for her. Camila packed up the documents and laptop into her bag, slung it over her shoulder, and followed him out, her hand brushing his suit jacket.
Once in the parking lot, Connor slid into the driverâs seat, and Camila opened the passenger door to join him.
âWhereâs the driver?â
âHe lives nearby. Thereâs staff housing here,â Connor said, steering the car forward.
Bryan is staying around here, too?â
âYeah.*
âWould it be inconvenient if I stayed at your place? I could stay in the staff housing.â
Thereâs no place for women there,â Connor said flatly.
âBut Iâve seen female staffâ¦â Camila began, puzzled. If there was staff housing, surely there would be accommodations for women.
Connor paused, then turned to look at her. âCan you set the GPS to Pleasant View Residence?â Camila nodded and reached for the GPS. They arrived five minutes later. Connor pressed his fingerprint to the door, and Camila followed him inside.
The decor wasnât overly luxurious, clean like a showroom. The dining table had a vase of fresh flowers and a few bottles of water, indicating it was rarely lived in.
The room at the end is mine. You can pick any of the other two,â Connor said, sitting on the sofa and opening a bottle of water from the coffee table
Camila opened the first bedroom door, placed her luggage next to the wardrobe, and checked the time. It was already nine. She remembered Connor hadnât eaten much at lunch and opened a food delivery app to see what was available nearby.
After browsing, she realized she wasnât familiar with any of the local restaurants, and the ratings werenât great. She hesitated to order blindly She stepped out of the bedroom and esked, âMr. Connor, do you like McDonaldâs?â
Connor glanced at the time and replied. Just order any burger for me.â
