Chapter 98
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 98
Half an hour later, Claire stood at the entrance of Cedarhill Estate, holding Camilaâs hand in disbelief. âYou live here?â
Camila nodded, leading her mother into the neighborhood as the security guard at the gate smiled and nodded politely. âMs. Camila, youâre back.â
Camila smiled in response.
Only then did Claire truly believe that her daughter lived in such an upscale community, feeling a touch of unease. âWhat does your company do? How can they afford to provide such nice accommodations for employees?â
Camila explained, âThis apartment belongs to my boss. He doesnât use it, so he let me stay here as company housing.â
Once inside, Claire seemed a bit uneasy and restless. The lavish decor and the sprawling apartment made it hard to believe it was just employee housing. âHow many people live here?â
âJust me.â Camila handed her mother a pair of new slippers.
âJust you?â Claireâs heart raced, unable to avoid thoughts of hidden motives. She trusted her daughterâs character, but her mind couldnât help but wander.
She opened the shoe cabinet, checking for any menâs shoes. Finding none, she felt somewhat relieved.
âYes, come in and have a look around.â Camila was oblivious to her motherâs concerns.
âHow much would rent be for a place like this?â Claire asked.
âA few thousand, I guess. Iâm not really sure.â Camila led her mother to see the bedrooms. âI sleep in this one. The master bedroom is over there. I donât use it since itâs someone elseâs property.â
Claire checked every bedroom for any signs of male belongings and finally relaxed a bit. âCami, your boss doesnât have any other intentions, right?â
âOf course not!â Camila chuckled, âMy old place was too far from work. I have to be there by seven or eight in the morning, and I often work late. So, my boss lent me this apartment.â
âHow old is your boss?â
â27.â
Claire murmured, âSo young and already so successful. Heâs from a different world than us.â
Back in the day, Claire and her exâhusband were from two different worlds. After marrying into his family, she endured disdain and was ordered around despite her genuine efforts until she was ultimately abandoned. She didnât want her daughter to suffer the same fate.
Camila laughed. Was her mother thinking she might have a romantic future with her boss?
Wellâ¦
Admittedly, something did happen once, but it stayed like that â just one night.
âMom, what are you imagining? Itâs purely professional, nothing else.â
âI trust you. I just donât want you to make the same mistakes I did,â Claire said, holding her daughterâs hand tightly.
âI understand, Mom.â
Claire sighed. Camila hugged her mother, comforting her, âYouâve given me so much love. Thatâs my strength.â
âCami, I have some photos to show you.â Claire pulled Camila to the sofa with a serious expression.
âWhat photos?â Camila asked.
âAn old client of mine has suggested some potential matches for you. See if you like any.â
Claire had asked a trusted client to help find suitors for her daughter. The locals knew, and many came forward with proposals, but Claire wanted none of them. The locals, living off their parentsâ legacy with rental properties, were often arrogant, selfâimportant, and unambitious. Claire didnât care about money but finding someone reliable, responsible, and loving.
âThis oneâs a college professor, very dependable. This oneâs a colleague of Craig, and heâs a traffic copâ¦â Claire almost thrust her phone Into Camilaâs face.
