Chapter 99
A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez )
Chapter 99
âMom, I really donât want to date right now..â Camila sighed deeply.
âJust meet him first, then decide,â Claire replied, her brow furrowed. âHow about this university professor? Iâve already sent your contact Info to the matchmakerâ
A few seconds later.
âIâve sent it.â
âMom, Iâm really swamped with work right now. I donât have time to meet anyone,â Camila said helplessly.
âJust donât come to my place this weekend. Go on that date. And no excuses. You canât be too busy for a simple dinner.â
Claire hoped that her daughter would soon have a family of her own, making up for the incomplete one she could only provide and helping Camila forget the pain her biological father had inflicted.
âFine, fine, Iâll go on the date,â Camila replied nonchalantly.
Later, the two went grocery shopping at a nearby supermarket. After dinner, Claire refused to let Camila drive her home, so Camila booked a cab for her instead.
After Claire left, Camila called Erica. âErica, you know everyone. Can you help me find Tabithaâs number?â
âWhy do you need to contact that crazy lady?â
Camila told her about Tabitha opening a ravioli restaurant, which infuriated Erica to the point of cursing vehemently. âSheâs going to wish I hadnât found her! Iâll definitely get her number for you!â
âAlso, my mom is pushing me into this blind date. How can I tactfully refuse?â
âWhy not ask Connor for help?â Erica said excitedly.
âShut up.â
âTrust me, I know all about dodging dates, so Iâll teach you a few tricksâ¦â
Camila was impressed by her advice.
They talked until midnight, and Erica said, âYou better get some sleep. You have to be at Connorâs place in seven hours.â
After hanging up, Camila lay in bed, wishing she could clear her mind of all worries. The more she tried to sleep, the harder it seemed.
âDrinking coffee brewed from cat poop is so weird! Donât hang out with him.â
The random memory of the child popped into her head, followed by an image of Connor drinking Kopi Luwak, making her laugh out loud in bed. It took her a long time to finally drift off.
Her alarm went off promptly at 6:30 AM, its piercing sound/jolting her awake. Camila irritably turned it off, feeling as though an invisible force pinned her to the bed.
It was Monday morning, and she was suffering her usual case of the Monday blues. After struggling for a while, she managed to sit up, her mind still foggy. She quickly freshened up and arrived at Connorâs place at 7:00 AM sharp.
After a grueling workout session, Camila, freshly showered, opened the bedroom door to find a message from Erica containing Tabithaâs phone number. She immediately sat back on her bed to reply. [Arenât you asleep yet?]
[Tabitha really is a tough nut to crack. I had to ask so many people before I got her number. Just sent it now.]
[Love you, get some sleep.]
[Sleeping now.]
Camila immediately dialed the number.
At Tabithaâs.
Buzz, buzz, buzzâthe vibrating phone on the nightstand. Tabitha groggily opened her eyes and picked up the phone, seeing an unfamiliar number. She answered, âAre you insane? Calling this early in the morning!â
âItâs Camila,â Camila said sternly.
âWho the⦠Camila?â Tabitha sat up straighter, a smirk forming. âHowâs your momâs restaurant doing?â
Camila scoffed. âThere are so many idiots in the world, yet you excel among them.â
âFuck, what do you mean by thaty Tabitha cursed.
âLiterally,â Camila replied coolly.
Tabitha, infuriated and itching for a confrontation, wished she could tear Camila apart right there and then.
