Chapter 192
Madelynâs head throbbed.
âSo, whatâs your plan now?â
âI never should have listened to you,â Carrie snapped.
âGiven Mrs. Sinclairâs temperament, sheâll definitely want to throw you in jail, and not even Jackson will be able to save you.â
She questioned if Jackson would protect her, given what she had done to Sophia before.
Madelyn thought Carrie had no choice but to run. She figured that even though Carrie was being chased, at least she was free. The more Madelyn pondered it, the more she felt they had made the right choice.
But then Carrieâs following words hit her like a punch to the gut.
âThe problem is, Iâm pregnant now. Heâs been chasing me so much I havenât even had time to go to the hospital!â
Madelyn was stunned.
âWhat?â
âIf I keep running away from him, Iâll have to give birth to this baby any time soon.â
Madelynâs mind raced. She tried to recall when Carrie fell pregnant in her previous life and reckoned that it was much later.
It seemed that with Madelynâs rebirth, things had changed, and Carrie was now pregnant with Jacksonâs child earlier than expected.
But no matter what had changed, Madelyn was determined to protect Andrew and prevent Easton from harming him again.
âDo you not want the baby?â Madelyn asked after taking a sharp breath.
Her question made Carrie explode with anger.
âOf course not! It was just a fling. Thereâs no way Iâd have a baby with him!â
Madelyn was speechless.
*If it was just a fling, why were you with him for so long?
Based on what she knew about Carrie, the relationship wouldnât last more than a month if Carrie werenât serious, and sometimes sheâd dump the guy after just a week.
âWell, thatâs because heâs awful!â Carrie fumed.
Now Jacksonâs people were keeping a close eye on her. Even if she managed to shake them off, theyâd find her again in no time. So, getting an abortion was nearly impossible.
Madelyn didnât expect that her advice for Carrie to run would lead to such a mess.
âSo, what are you going to do?â
Either way, Carrie didnât want this baby. The problem was there was no time for an abortion.
Always sharp and quickâwitted, Carrie found herself entangled in trouble with Jackson again.
Seeing Carrie too angry to speak, Madelyn asked cautiously, âShould we get Jackson to back off so you

have time to get the abortion?â
âAre you out of your mind? Andrew has really spoiled you.â
âYeah, maybe my brain is fried. But seriously, what should we do now?â
In all her years with Andrew, nothing had been worse for Madelyn than Elena and Eastonâs schemes. Carrieâs tangled mess was more than she could handle. If she had more experience, she never would have suggested Carrie run from Jackson in the first place.
Carrie seethed.
âWhat should we do? Madelyn, if this baby is born, Iâm leaving it with you. I mean it!â
âSure. Iâll take care of it!â
Carrie got even angrier when she heard this.
âAre you dumb?â
Before Madelyn could respond, Carrie angrily hung up the phone.
Madelynâs mind raced with thoughts about Carrieâs pregnancy. She thought about how Carrie could
survive Jacksonâs pursuit while pregnant. She couldnât believe Jackson was still furious after all this time and seemed intent on killing Carrie.
She questioned if there was something wrong with Sophie.
Madelyn called Grace, who answered quickly.
âMaddie, whatâs up? Do you miss me?â
âYes, I miss you. How has Mrs. Sinclair been lately?â
âI heard she got hurt but was already discharged from the hospital. She was playing poker with her friends yesterday. Why the sudden interest?â
Madelyn was relieved to hear it wasnât lifeâthreatening, but she grew even more puzzled. She wondered why Jackson was still chasing Carrie around the world if Sophie was fine.
