Chapter 27

TWENTY SIX

Speaking Isn't My Strong Point

Striding into school, I scanned around grumpily. Last night, was eventful. Let's just say I didn't go to bed happy.

"Leia!" A voice called out, making me freeze on the spot. "I need your help."

Spinning around, I saw a distressed Ana appear. I hadn't seen her in ages but she had helped Mason and I get out of the school.

However saying that, made me doubt Ana. She must had known about my family being in debt to hers. Did she know that they were the ones that trapped us in the school? Did Mason know all along about that?

"Look, if it's about Mason then no," I responded. "I won't help him."

"Oh come on, Leia!" She replied quickly before leaning in to whisper. "He needs our help."

After a few seconds, I asked, "What is it then?"

Crossing my arms over my chest, I stared at Ana as she began to speak.

"Leia, he's not a bad person and he definitely didn't betray you," she gulped. "But I did."

"How is that helping?" I murmured, widening my eyes in astonishment.

"I already knew way before who you were and how you had to pay my uncle," she admitted. "Mason though, he didn't know until everything in that abandoned house clicked into his small brain."

"You know about the abandoned house?" I uttered out.

"Yes, he came rushing to me."

"And you went rushing to your uncle afterwards I suppose," I shook my head in disbelief, thinking about the incredulous thought.

"No, no, no, no," she cried out hurriedly. "I wouldn't do that, Leia. I care about whoever my cousin cares about."

"Then how did he know about Mason's secret?" I asked. "Surely someone would had told his dad about my grandmother's basement."

"I didn't," Ana revealed with a baffled face. "Actually he doesn't know about that at all."

"Huh? Well, what is Mason's secret then?" I pondered.

"Nothing. My uncle must had been mistaken. Catch you later," she hastily answered, dashing passed other students to get to where she ever was meant to be.

Ana was being very suspicious and she gave me a wary feeling. I hoped she didn't end up being a nasty traitor like Mason.

Ana said he didn't betray you though.

"And I'm supposed to believe her?" I scoffed to myself. What a bloody joke.

At lunch, it was awkward. Mason just sat on Kane's and Angela's table whilst watching me like a hawk. He even tried talking to me when I was in the queue to get food. I kind of felt bad about ignoring him. What if Mason wasn't lying? What if he really didn't know until the abandoned house?

As I went round the corner, I stopped for a second. I was just wandering around like a numpty. I had left Ashley, Sara and Abby to go for a walk around the school.

During the walk, I was just thinking about Mason mostly and how close we were. What was odd though, was that I didn't think Mason would betray me. It didn't seem right.

Speeding down the corridor, I felt a rush of adrenaline wave over me. It was strange. It was like a rush of urgency and I wasn't late to class.

"Look what the cat dragged in, Kane," a snobby voice squeaked.

The sound of high-heels brought to my attention as I lifted my head up to meet the eyes of the biggest bimbo at school, Angela Herrington.

I gulped nervously as I fiddled with the hem of my jumper. The adrenaline I had, soon left me. I stood there stunned with my mouth agape when I saw Kane enter with his arm wrapped around Angela's waist. Why couldn't he just be true to himself?

Watching him fake his love to Angela, made me feel extremely guilty. I knew about it and she had no clue. Even though she was a downright devious bitch, Angela still deserved to be treated right.

But come on, like she isn't doing the same thing...

I silently agreed with my sub-conscious that time. She probably was doing the same thing as him but with the opposite gender.

"What're you staring at prude?" Kane rudely said.

I bit back any nasty insults and tried to keep everything at bay. I needed to be the bigger person and not retaliate. Anyway if I tried to fight back, their posse would probably come after me. I was still surprised why they hadn't came after me yet. I was quite sour to Mason a lot of the time.

Instead of saying it loudly, I whispered, "Apparently nothing."

"Got something you wanna say!" Kane spat, shoving me up against another set of lockers. Was that how we would always meet?

"N-No," I stuttered, shivering in fear.

"Kane! Stop it," a familiar voice shouted, making my eyes dart to my hero.

No it definitely was not Angela.

"Why should I? The prude needs to be taught a lesson," Kane gritted his teeth, which made him look like he just ate a ton of lemon sour sweets all in one go.

"Yeah, and you need a lesson in manners," I muttered quietly, rubbing my sore back.

Luckily for me, I would not die by that small comment because Kane was too caught up on something else, or shall I say someone, to hear.

"No," Kane whispered as a flash of worry flitted in his eyes. Profanities soon began slipping from his mouth before he set off.

Sprinting down the hallway in panic, I watched silently as Kane chased after someone. And once again, it wasn't Angela.

"Kane!" Angela gasped out, trying to desperately follow him but her high-heels were stopping her.

Slipping them off, Angela screeched whilst she stumbled after him.

Throughout that, Mason stood stupified at the situation.

"What just happened?" Mason asked.

"All I know is that Angela is going to have a fright in a minute," I revealed, waiting for everything to unravel.

Mason and I stood and watched as Angela came screaming and wailing down the corridor. I knew what had happened but Mason didn't. I had caught a glimpse of the same boy that Kane had been snogging in my peripheral vision. He must had seen what he did to me or saw him with Angela and got upset. Poor guy.

"You're a faggot! That's what you are," Angela wailed out, causing heads to turn her way. (A/n: That word should never at all be used. This is Angela's character; homophobic and cold. I do not agree!)

Shaking my head in disgust at her cruel words, I began to pounce. Unfortunately, I didn't get to have the pleasure of tearing her limbs off because a hand stopped me.

"Stop," Mason whispered in my ear.

"But Mason, she's a bitch. She can't say that," I snapped.

A wide-eyed Kane came marching behind her. He looked more furious than upset.

"Call me what you want, but your words won't stop me from being who I truly am," Kane yelled out.

Angela scowled at Kane and stomped away with her high-heels still in her hand.

"Boiii, that was cool!" An amazed Abby hollered, hurtling over to him.

"You think?" Kane sheepishly replied, scratching the back of his neck.

"Yeah, you totally told that girl to go shove it," Abby whooped.

"Abby sure knows how to make a first impression," I giggled, staring at my new friend in awe.

"Hey, Leia?"

Turning to him, I said, "Yeah?"

"Are we cool?" Mason wondered with a hopeful face.

"It depends," I smiled.

"On what?" Mason grumbled out.

"If you buy me Caramel Chew Chew," I grinned cheekily.

I couldn't not forgive him. I had thought about everything we had been through and decided that we couldn't let that go. I believed Mason hadn't betrayed me. Why would someone wait that long to betray you for nothing? No one would.

"Of course, Craze," he shook his head, a smile forming on his face. "Caramel Craze."

I narrowed my eyes at him. He was so pushing it.

"Leia," a panting Ashley choked out. "Something's happened. And you're not going to like it."

Worried and concerned, I twirled around to Ashley.

"What has happened?"

"Mr Redford attacked Mrs White!"

____________________________________________________________________________

So, did you like it? Seems like Mr Redford is still in school but not for long. Poor Mrs White. Props to you if you remember who Mrs White is.

And please do not take any offence to what Angela said. I, in no way, am homophobic! That was just Angela speaking, not me.

Anyway, Please VOTE and COMMENT. I will see you soon my lovelies <3
