Chapter 73

Original ending (that was never added in)

ALWAY S | ✔︎

This was one of the endings I was considering for this book...but my dumbass self got attached to these characters and I never did it (my sister also threatened me when I told her about it🙃)...anyway enjoy. (This is a bit shorter but whatever my cramps are CRAMPING)

Aaron grins as he pulls me close to him ending my laugh as my body collides with his, a smile takes its place on my face instead,

"You need to work" I whisper to him looking at his closed office door,

He hums hugging me close to his chest as he sways us side to side, laying a gentle kiss on the top of my head, "a job seems so undesirable when your standing in front of me" he says into my hair making me grin into his chest,

"As your assistant, I feel like I should tell you that I don't care and how you have a meeting in ten minutes you need to prepare for...but as your wife, I say that you're adorable and we should skip work and go eat sandwiches," I say feeling him pinch my side playfully

"Not adorable" he whispers in my ear

"Mhm... it's not nice to lie to your wife" I whisper back against his lips

He kisses me then, pulling me flush against him, making me completely forget about our surroundings, and the conversation we had a moment before. All I feel, see, and breathe is Aaron as he holds me to him, moving his lips against mine with love and fire.

"You don't play fair," I say breathlessly against his lips, brushing them together slightly to where it almost tickles when I talk,

"I never said I did" he smirks his hands sliding down to my waist,

"Okay...no more distractions, come on let's go over the meeting that's happening in-shit in a few minutes" I quickly break away from his hold and run into my office, grabbing the paperwork I prepared for him about the meeting,

Walking back into his office I find Aaron sitting on his couch, snacking on sour belts "why are you eating my candy?" I frown snatching the bag out of his hand,

"I'll buy you a year's worth, sunshine," he says trying to grab the bag out of my hands

"Go over the paperwork before the Meeting," I say handing him the papers,

"Candy first," he says putting his hand out,

I stay rooted in place, a small smirk on my face as I raise a brow expectedly-waiting,

He sighs quietly and smiles "please"

"Good boy" I grin giving him the bag and watching his eyes darken.

_______________

"Hey, henry...are you going to attend the Christmas event Aarons company is hosting?" I ask as we sit in Aaron and my living room,

"I don't work there anymore though," he says with a smile

I shrug "who cares...I want you there so you're going to be"

Laughing he says "alright, if you really want me there"

"Why wouldn't I want you there?" I frown at him,

He shrugs taking a sip of tea, and a bite of a cookie I made this afternoon,

"Show up...Henry, or else my wife's going to be upset the whole night," Aaron says walking into the living room and sitting next to me, putting his arms around my shoulder and pulling me so our sides are flush against each other,

"Yeah..listen to Aaron" I grin grabbing my husband's hand and threading our fingers together,

Henry shakes his head with a smile "alright alright, I'll be there"

Conversation flows easy between us for the next hour, mostly Henry and me doing the talking as Aaron sits gently fiddling with my fingers in his hand,

"Well...I'll leave you guys be, I need to visit a job site I'm working on to see how it's coming along " he smiles standing up ,

I stand up meeting him in a hug "okay, I'll see you at the event, be safe, and I hope you have a good rest of your day"

"Thank you Vanessa" he laughs quietly

Henry shakes hands with Aaron "see you next week" he tells him,

My husband nods and gives him a smile "see you then"

Once the door closes, Aaron brings me to him, I sigh in happiness when I feel his warm big body surrounding me,

"You okay?" He asks cupping my head to his chest,

"Yeah...I just, I'm not sure something feels weird" I whisper

"Is my beautiful wife imagining me again?" He chuckles cupping my face,

I frown in confusion watching his face fade away, his laugh is suddenly a distant memory, his smile gone...and then everything is dark and cold, and I feel more alone than ever.

"VANESSA!" A loud voice shakes me,

"Huh?" I say meeting Zara's eyes,

She gives me a sad smile and grabs my hand,

"I think you were thinking of him again," she says softly

I burst out crying and Zara immediately gets up from her spot and hugs me, "I'm so sorry Vanessa...I can't imagine how difficult it must be"

"I just...My brain won't stop torturing me, creating these scenarios where Aaron and I get married or adopt kids, or where he survived the surgery" I cry out,

The real truth of me one day collapsing and being rushed to the hospital, where doctors told Aaron I was dying hurts to remember...

Because he didn't survive that transplant...we never got to get married or travel more, nor did we have kids.

I hallucinate it all, I daydream away things that will never happen because my heart can't handle the truth.

The truth of Aaron,

My Aaron.

My boyfriend being gone.

"He'll always be in your heart Vanessa" Ava whispers in my ear as she hugs me as well,

"Always" Zara whispers to me.

I nod as sobs rack my body and in a broken whisper I manage to say "Always"

Authors note:

This was an idea I had...

one where about a quarter of the last part of this story you just read was all a hallucination for Vanessa,

It never happened, most of it she imagines as she was recovering from the heart surgery...😢

But obviously I didn't make this the true ending since🚶🏼‍♀️my dumbass got attached to the characters.

Anywho bye bye ima go eat a sandwich.
