Chapter 9
Secret Red
Chapter 9
"Hey are you alright? You just kind of left yesterday from the cafeteria and we couldn't find you the rest of the day." Layla asked concerned as soon as she saw Alison at the carpark.
"Yeah I wasn't feeling well so I left school." Alison guised.
"What exactly happened yesterday between you and the MIA girls?" Layla wondered.
"It's just-" Alison sighed before continuing "Nothing." She had no valid reason that actually proved the MIA girls to be the type of people she had assumed. Nonetheless, she had strong feelings that they had something to do with what happened to Anna and she was not going to sit put watching Anna being oppressed as such.
"For what it's worth, let's just forget about the whole thing and just shake it off. Shake, shake, shake it off. Shake it off...." Zoe lilted melodically.
"Thanks, Zoe." She replied giving her sincere smile. They continued walking into the school building and went to their respective classes. Thankfully, with the Bratz out of sight and out of drama. Alison walked through the cafeteria towards the loud laughter from Corey and joined her friends.
"Anyway, are you guys ready for Halloween?" Layla asked enthusiastically.
"Oh yeah it's almost that time of the year already. One thing you should know about Layla is that she's a Halloween freak! Think extremist. Zealot. Fanatic. It's her personal sacred festive of the year." Zoe explained.
"I think it's cute." Shane replied looking at Layla who instantly blushed.
"Ignore them. What are you going to be this year? Sexy housekeeper for me?" Corey wriggled his eyebrow towards Zoe.
"Ugh you wish. Even if I dressed as the sexy housekeeper, it'll be to sweep away your leftover ashes after I flare you up, Corndog." Zoe huffed.
"Damn, I hate that nickname. Stupid Jason has to start it." Corey cursed boring his glare towards Jason who just smiled back teasing him. Gosh, he looked so cute with those dimples, ugh... What is wrong with you, Alison! He's Jason, the mean and rude annoying soulless boy!
"Aw, shomeone ish being a cwy bawby, aren't chu cowndowg?" Zoe teased, patting on Corey's head as he scowled.
"That's enough. You're hurting his feelings. Don't be mean guys. So, this year, it'll be at your place right, Corndog?" Layla continued while they all burst out laughing as Corey grimaced.
"Seriously though, it'll be at your place, right?" Shane asked.
"Yeah, my parents will be out of town that time, so we can have it at my place. You guys better not leave before helping me clean up the place, though. Or my parents will literally murder me this time." Corey added bitterly.
"Yeah, yeah. If we're not that drunk, we'll help out, don't worry Cor-ndog." Shane replied making Corey to abruptly stood up from his seat, stomping away from the table who were still laughing very loudly.
"You're coming right? What are you going to be, Al?" Layla asked.
"What? I don't know. I don't think I'm going."
"What?!" everyone exclaimed.
"Why? No! You've to come! It's my holiday! It's like my birthday, but more important! It's like my wedding day and you're the bridesmaid. You need to... I demand you to come!" Layla insisted.
"Yeah, Al. She may let you off for not coming to the homecoming, but if you passed on the Halloween party as well... unless someone died or something. Oh my... she might just shatter whatever friendship you guys have and torment you for a long, long, long time before she actually forgives you again. Trust me, personal experience." Zoe explicated.
"Well, I guess I don't have much of a choice, do I? Then, let's not make Corndog walk away in vain." She joked just as the bell rang which diminished their laughter.
Alison was walking alone at the carpark when she saw Jason from afar. He had his arms wrapped around a beautiful petite blonde girl who was almost as equally tall as him in her two-inch heels. Definitely scout worthy as a model, especially with the strong facial features as hers. They stopped beside the black motorcycle, he leaned down to grab the two helmets and handed one to her. Gosh... She shook her head, resuming the steps towards her car, clearing the incoming critics about them which does not concern her at all.
Of course, he would have a supermodel girlfriend.
I wonder how she handles his annoying, rude, obnoxious attitude.
Even with a face and body like him, I wouldn't close one eye just to deal with his attitude.
Good luck with that buddy!
Why should I even bother thinking about them. Gosh!
Once reaching her home, the cold shower should wash away the remaining thoughts she pondered during the whole drive. Walking to her table, she opened the black box, taking out the bracelet with the A L initials and held it close to her heart. Her mind wandered off to the times when she would look forward to Halloween with Leah as they discussed on their next costume outfit. Instead of looking sexy in the least fabric like most of their friends would wear, they opted for the scariest and most gore costumes they could come up with.
"Add more blood there! Ugh, here!" Alison whined.
"Oh my god, Alison! You literally just poured the whole content on me! I'm basically drenched in blood here, crazy woman!" Leah startled feeling the cold liquid seeping through her already bloody nurse costume inspired by the Silent Hill movie.
"That's the whole idea, my dear. I think the other kids will be much more terrified of us like this compared to the previous Halloween! Come on, we've got to prank my dad first! He's got this hemophobia kind of thing." She laughed and they all crept downstairs as quietly as they could and sneak into the living room where Mr. Brooke was leaning against the couch watching his favorite game on the television with his back facing them. Perfect. Alison signaled Leah to crept from the other side of the couch, mouthing the count down from three to one.
"JESUS CHRIST!!! You both are in so much trouble!" Mr. Brooke screamed out, covering his eyes with his hands while the two girls laughed their heads off ignoring the pale expression of her father or how he could probably faint in any second, with his hands still covering his eyes from the gore, sickening sight.
"Oh Mr. Brooke! Please help me! I'm losing so much blood!" She tried grabbing his arm away from his face.
"Doctor Alison is here. No worries. I only require my scalpel and surgical blade to dissect the left atrium to let the blood flow further. More blood. More blood." She teased relishing each moment her father cringed at the statement.
If only you're here, Leah...
The day of the Halloween party had finally arrived, everyone had been beguiled by Layla to attend and dressed up in costumes to the party. Reluctantly, after several threats and ultimatums, Alison finally agreed to go to the party wearing a costume as well. Since she did not specify the details, she went with a Harry Potter costume. Wearing a loose tie over the loose white shirt with pleated grey skirt that falls on her knee, pairing it with black ankle boots. Adding a long black cape that flowed to the floor and a wooden stick as her wand. Her hair was still tied up in a bun and her thick glasses still in place which actually made the look more believable. Satisfied with the overall look, she went downstairs to wait for Shane and Layla who were going to pick her up to Corey's house.
"Hermoine Granger ready to cast her spell?" Her mother chaffed, sitting on the couch with her father watching television.
"So, who is going to be picking you up and dropping you off home safely tonight?" Her father asked.
"Oh, it's you know who. The name that cannot be said." She said firmly imitating a British accent, her face flat and serious but fell into a scowl when her father gave a nonchalant stare.
"It's Layla, dad. Lighten up a little, Professor Snape."
"Just remember to always watch your drink alright? Don't leave your drink unattended, ever. You know that they're after one thing." He added.
"Voldemort is after one thing? His nose!" She gasped dramatically while her mother snorted trying to hide her laughter but failed miserably.
"You've to admit that's a good one dear husband. I'm glad you're going, Ally dear. Have fun!" Her mother smiled and heard a car honk.
"Don't let the muggles get you down." Her father said as soon as she kissed them goodbye and went out the door to join Layla and Shane in his car.
"Harry Potter?!" Layla shrieked.
