Chapter 13

Just One Night

Rosalee was at her desk when Ace asked her to come into his office. She picked up her pen and notepad and walked in and sat in the chair facing him. “I’m ready whenever you are.”

He got up and walked around his desk, dictating the letter that he wanted her to write. He went around behind her as he continued speaking. Her hair was pulled back, exposing her neck, and he couldn’t resist leaning over to kiss it. His buddy below instantly grew hard. “God, you smell so good,” he said as he continued kissing up and down her neck.

She couldn’t help tilting her head back, giving him easier access to her neck as she softly moaned. But then, knowing where they were, she came back to her senses. “Ace, stop, someone might come in and see us.”

He knew that she was right but wanting her was too strong of an urge to ignore. He stopped what he was doing and reached for his phone, all the while keeping his eyes on hers. “Bonnie, Miss Keller and I are going to be on a conference call so I don’t want to be disturbed for at least thirty minutes and don’t let anyone back here until we are done.” It wasn’t like he had never been on a conference call over the phone before with his other personal assistants, so he knew that Bonnie would not suspect anything was going on.

“Ace, you don’t have a conference call to make.”

“I know,” he said, taking her hand he led her into the bathroom and closed the door behind them. He didn’t waste any time putting her up against the wall as his mouth came roughly down on hers. His kiss was hot and demanding as it ravaged her lips and his one hand went up her dress and between her legs. He pushed the material of her panties over so that he could slip a finger inside her. He stroked inside her, feeling how wet she was becoming.

“We shouldn’t do this,” she moaned, feeling her core throbbing. The scent of his cologne and his lips moving on her neck drove her mad with sexual desire.

Then all of a sudden he removed his finger from inside her and his lips from her neck and turned her around. He grabbed ahold of her wrists and placed them on the sink, he then lifted up her skirt and pulled down her panties.

She could hear him breathing heavily and the sound of his zipper being pulled down. She let out a gasp when she felt him entering her while his one hand reached around, stroking her clit as he started thrusting inside her. His hands held onto her hips firmly, and his moans of ecstasy rang in her ears. But then when she started screaming he covered her mouth with his hand so that no one could hear her. Her whole body trembled, her legs felt weak, and then she felt his cock throbbing inside her, and she heard him grunt as he made one final thrust before they both came at the same time.

He had never experienced such an amazing sexual encounter in his whole life as he did just now. He had never had sex in his office before. He leaned over, moved her hair to the side, and kissed her neck. “Oh baby, I wanted you so bad, and that was out of this world,” he said as he pulled out of her.

She looked up into the mirror at her face, which was flushed and her hair a mess. Her lips were red and swollen, her heartbeat finally slowed down. She turned around to face him. “I can’t believe we just did that.”

He cupped her face in his hands. “This was the first for me, and I don’t regret it. But we better wash up and get back to work.” Before doing that, he gave her a sweet and tender kiss.

After they had both washed up and their clothes straightened, they went back into his office where he called and said that the conference call was over and to send in his next client.

“Do you need me to stay and take notes?”

He licked his lips as he stared at her, his eyes moving down her body. “No, not this time.” He knew that there was no way he would be able to concentrate on his client if she was in the same room with him. He still had a huge grin on his face when the next client was shown into his office.

After Rosalee showed the client into Ace’s office, she went back to her desk and started going over the dictations he had given to her earlier to be sent out. But she had a hard time concentrating on her work after what had just taken place inside his private bathroom. There was something thrilling and exciting about it—maybe it was the thrill that they could be caught at any moment.

She didn’t get a chance to talk to him for the next two days because he was in and out of the office. So she figured she would talk to him on the weekend when they were together at his place.

On Friday, he stopped by her desk before leaving. “Do you want me to pick you up, or would you rather bring your car to my place?”

“I have a couple of errands to run, so I’ll just drive over myself.”

He gave her a big smile. “I’ll see you soon,” he said before leaving. He hadn’t been with her since Monday when they did it in the bathroom, and he couldn’t wait to get her alone. On the way to his place, he stopped and bought some wine. Things were going his way—his business deals came through, and he had a beautiful woman in his bed every weekend. He was waiting patiently for her to arrive; she had called him to let him know she was stopping to pick up some Thai for their dinner.

As soon as she walked in his front door, she was grabbed and put up against the wall as his lips came crashing down on hers. Feeling how hard his crotch was pressed against her, she knew that dinner was going to have to wait. And that was okay with her because she wanted him as bad as he wanted her. Since after Monday, the sexual tension between them was building, and now it was about to explode into one hot make-out session.

Later, while they were eating, she figured it was time to talk to him about what was on her mind. “Ace, when are we going to let others know about our relationship?”

He looked up from his plate. “What brought this on all of a sudden?”

“It’s not all of a sudden. It’s been three months now, and all we do is spend every weekend here, and we never go anywhere. I’d like once in a while to go out to dinner, or even dancing.”

He could tell she was upset. “Soon, just be patient a little longer.”

“I sometimes get the feeling you’re ashamed to be seen with me.”

“That’s not true. It’s just that I’ve been busy, and I promise it won’t be much longer. Once everyone knows about us, I’ll take you wherever you want to go.”

She stared into his eyes and felt as though there was another reason why he wanted to wait. “Is there something you’re not telling me?”

“No,” he snapped and immediately felt bad for doing so. “Let’s not fight about this.”

“My friends are going to a bar tomorrow night and want me to go with them; you’re also invited.” She was hoping he would give in and go with her.

“I can’t go with you, but if you want to go, I won’t try to stop you.”

“Come with me, we’ll have fun, and there probably won’t be anyone there who knows you.”

“There’s always someone who will recognize me, but you go ahead and have some fun. You can always come back here when the night’s over. I’ll have a taxi pick you up.”

“I’m beginning to think that all you want me for is sex.” She pushed her plate away and got to her feet.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m going home,” she said and headed into the other room to get her bag that was still by the door.

He followed behind her. “Please don’t go.” He could see the sadness in her eyes when she looked at him, and it broke his heart.

“I think we need some distance between us, some time apart. I’ll see you at work on Monday.” She picked up her bag and walked out the front door. She knew he was standing there watching her as she got into her car. She was hoping that he would chase after her and tell her that he changed his mind and would go with her and that they would tell everyone they were a couple, but he didn’t. She was in tears when she got home, and of course, Eve and Brett were there.

“Oh my God, what happened?” Eve asked, going over and putting her arms around her.

“Did he hurt you? Did he lay a hand on you?” Brett asked as he made a fist that dangled by his side.

“No, he didn’t hit me. We just had an argument, and I left. I told him I was going to the bar with you guys tomorrow night and that I wanted him to go, and he said no. He also said it was too soon to let people know that we’re in a relationship. I’m beginning to think that you two were right and that it was just sex he wanted from me. The thing is, I’m in love with him, and I thought he felt the same way about me, even though we never said it to each other. You were right, and I should have listened to you. Nothing good comes out of sleeping with your boss.”

“Well, you should quit that job and find another one.”

She looked up at Eve and shook her head. “No way am I quitting. I worked too hard and too many hours to just walk away. I know what you’re thinking, that I won’t be able to handle working with him after what we’ve been through together. But I can. From now on, it’s just going to be a professional relationship and nothing more.”

Eve and Brett looked at each other. They knew that she would be gutted working with the man she had fallen in love with and had been sleeping with for the last three months.

She crawled into bed that night but could not sleep. She couldn’t stop thinking about Ace. Could she really have been that mistaken about him and his feelings towards her? She cried herself to sleep that night and woke up the next morning with red and swollen eyes. She could smell the fresh aroma of coffee brewing. Getting out of bed, she threw on a robe and went out into the kitchen where Brett was sitting at the table. Even though he lived across the hall, he spent most of his time here, especially since he knew he was going to be gone for a few months and wanted to spend as much time as he could with Eve.

“Sit down, and I’ll pour you a cup,” he said when he saw her come in.

“Is Eve still sleeping?”

“Yes, but I’m sure she’ll be up soon. So how are you feeling this morning?”

“I’m fine,” she replied, looking down at her coffee.

“Liar, I can tell by looking at your eyes that you were up most of the night crying. You shouldn’t shed tears over a creep like him. He’s not worth your tears.”

“I really wish you wouldn’t put him down like that. You don’t know him the way I do. He has a good heart, and he’s a decent man, a good man, and he’s been through a lot of pain and heartache.”

“Why in the world would you stick up for him?”

“I just don’t like you putting him down. So please, let’s not talk about him anymore.”

“Okay, we won’t talk about him anymore. I do hope you’re still going to come out with me and Eve tonight. We’ll make sure you have a good time and that you forget about you-know-who.”

“I definitely plan on going out tonight and having a good time,” she wiped the single tear that started to trickle from her eye and down her cheek. “I just wish that he was going to be there with me.”

“Hey, didn’t we agree not to talk about him?”

She gave him a weak smile and nodded her head. “Yes, you’re right. No more talk about Ace.”

Just then, Eve walked in, yawning. She went over and kissed Brett on the lips before heading to the coffee pot. Once she had coffee poured into her mug, she went and sat down with the others.

“Girl, as soon as I wake up, you and I are going shopping, and we’re going to get you a new dress and get our hair done. We’re taking you out tonight, and we’re going to make sure you have a great time. You might even find a nice guy who will treat you better than your boss did.”

“I’m not going out to find a man.”

“Look, I know you’re hurting over Ace, but you know what they say. To get over someone, you need to get under someone else.”

There was no way she was going to get involved with another man for a very long time, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t go out dancing and have a few drinks. She looked at Eve and shook her head. “I will go out with you guys, but I am not going there to hook up with anybody. End of story.”
