“Yes.”

Before he could say anything, an argument suddenly broke out outside.

Loud voices, mixed with a few screams, filled the air.

David frowned.

“Mr. Ellison, I’ll go check,” Paul quickly said and went outside.

Caroline curiously peeked out the window, seeing a crowd gathered at the entrance, pulling and shoving. What’s going on?

Soon, Paul returned, looking uneasy. He glanced at Caroline before saying, “It’s Ms. Elizabeth outside.”

David’s frown deepened. Was causing trouble at the company during the day not enough? Now she’s bringing it to the house at night? Elizabeth really didn’t know her limits!

Caroline scoffed. “It’s her? Seems like the time–out didn’t restrain her at all. She’s free to come and go as she pleases. I guess those words were just for my ears, huh?”

Paul replied, “Ma’am, Ms. Elizabeth

He was cold and distant toward her, which she could understand, because from the start, David had despised her. But he was clearly biased toward Elizabeth, loving and pampering her. Yet now, he said nothing, letting Elizabeth kneel in the heavy rain without any compassion.

If he could be so heartless toward someone he liked, how would he treat other women? What, exactly, did David care about the most? What is his true priority? Some people were just born cold–blooded.

The rain poured down in torrents, thunder and lightning flashing.

Caroline should have been happy, because Elizabeth had never been this humiliated. But instead of feeling triumphant, Caroline’s heart tightened, and a sense of anxiety crept over her. Is Elizabeth scheming something?

Kneeling in the rain at night, suffering this huge humiliation, Elizabeth was surely going to retaliate double against Caroline in the future.
