Boris sighed, rubbing his forehead. He had a bad feeling about this banquet–things were about to spiral out of control.

Meanwhile, David stood calmly in place, one hand casually tucked into his trouser pocket while the other picked up a glass of red wine from a passing waiter’s tray. He swirled it lazily.

“You seriously have the mood to drink right now?” Boris asked. “Your two women are about to tear each other apart. Do you even realize that?”

“I do.”

“Then why are you just-”

“So what?” David’s tone was indifferent. “If they have what it takes, they’ll win. If they don’t, they’ll lose.”

“What the heck is wrong with you?” Boris shot him a sharp look. “I thought you loved Caroline. Why are you suddenly getting so close to Elizabeth? Bringing her here as your date–it’s practically an open acknowledgment of her status! You’re giving her a title. Caroline must be furious.”

“She’s furious?”

David found that hard to believe.

For the past month, he had deliberately ignored her, kept his distance, treated her with complete indifference–yet she acted as if nothing was wrong.

And just now, from across the room, he had gotten a good look at her.

She looked healthier, more radiant than before.

She was doing just fine without him. In fact, she was thriving.

“She’s doing just fine,” David said coldly. “She’s more tolerant than you think.”

Boris wasn’t convinced.

David took a sip of his wine, the corners of his lips curving into a faint smile. “Elizabeth is pregnant.”

“What? And the baby is yours?”

“Of course.”

Boris nearly choked. “So let me get this straight–Caroline is pregnant with another man’s children, and now Elizabeth is pregnant with yours? This whole situation is a mess.”

David’s expression turned colder. “I asked Caroline what she wanted me to do about Elizabeth’s baby. Keep

“But you love Caroline, not Elizabeth,” Boris said. “Forcing yourself to be with a woman you don’t love–are you really okay with that?”

David said nothing, lips pressed into a thin line.

Boris sighed. “Look, we’ve been brothers for years. I know exactly what kind of person you are. You’re not the type to spoil Elizabeth just because she’s having your child. And you’re definitely not the type to fall in

love with her.”
