âWhatâs she coming to beg you for?â Boris asked curiously, raising a finely shaped eyebrow. âLooks like I missed quite the show.â
Boris Stanley was the Vice President of Ellison Group and David Ellisonâs most trusted confidant.
Years of brotherhood and partnership had made them inseparable. Boris had been instrumental in helping David secure his position as head of the Ellison family.
Born into a prestigious family, Boris was every bit the charming gentleman. Compared to Davidâs cold and indifferent demeanor, Borisâs flirtatious eyes gave him the air of a playful Casanova.
Now that David was married, Boris had become the cityâs most eligible bachelor.
Standing nearby, William whispered, âMr. Boris, Mr. Ellison just instructed that no other company is to hire his wife.â
Hearing this, Boris immediately began flipping through Carolineâs resume.
He quickly skimmed it, then called out to David, who was about to leave. âWait.â
âWhat?â
âDid you even look at Carolineâs resume during the interview?â
âNo.â Davidâs expression remained blank. âSheâs just a recent graduate. Whatâs so special about her resume?â
He had barely glanced at her education before tossing the resume aside, paying it no mind.
Boris sighed, rubbing his forehead, âIf it were up to me. Iâd have hired her on the spot. But you? You just ruined my carefully planned recruitment fair for top talent!â
Davidâs lips thinned. âWhat are you saying? Since when was your judgment for hiring this low?â
âSheâs incredibly talented!â Boris retorted. âThe skincare product she developed in school is still a best- seller, with both stellar reviews and sales. If she joined Ellison Groupâs R&D department with our resources and platform, sheâd create ever more hits!â
David asked coolly, âSo, you want to hire her?â
âYes. Itâs not that she needs usâitâs that we need her. David, if you want Ellison Group to become a globally recognized skincare brand, Caroline is essential.â
After a pause, Boris added, âIf she joins another company and starts her own brand, sheâll become our biggest competitor. We canât let her slip away; we have to keep her at Ellison Group.â
âI said no company will dare to hire her.â
âThen letâs bet on it,â Boris challenged, locking eyes with David. âLetâs see if any company is bold enough to go against you and hire her after your warning. You really donât understand her value. What a shame.â
Boris had a deep appreciation for talent, especially with Ellison Groupâs upcoming focus on the womenâs

Davidâs gaze sharpened. âLetâs see who dares.â
âWeâll know in three days.â
âWeâll see.â David replied curtly before striding out.
He couldnât believe anyone would risk everything for a mere product developer.
At a coffee shop, Caroline and Anna Xydias sat across from each other.
âIâm so sorry, Anna. My impulsiveness messed up your interview,â Caroline apologized.

âItâs fine,â Anna replied. âI wasnât really expecting much anyway. Besides, if youâre not joining Ellison Group, I wouldnât want to stay even if I got selected. We promised to work together. Iâm not leaving you behind!â
Annaâs loyalty was unwavering, and she even tried to comfort Caroline instead.
âBut, Caroline, are you sure today was the first time you met Mr. Ellison? You two seemed awfully familiar!â
