In her daze, Caroline felt as if she had returned to the previous night. The man who pressed on top of her had the same deep voice. She trembled as she turned her head, and saw that David was slowly sitting up. She thought it was just another hallucination, but this time, Andrew’s reaction was much more intense, his whole body was shaking as he yelled out, “A ghost! It’s a ghost!” Andrew retreated in a hurry, but before he could turn and flee, the door was kicked open with a loud bang, and a dozen bodyguards stormed in. They’re all David’s men! “Did you just try to force yourself on my wife right in my bed?” David sneered, “I don’t think killing you is enough, you’ll need to pay with several lives.” “Y… You…” Andrew stammered. “I’m awake now, sorry to disappoint you and your mother.” Andrew was stunned, he simply could not believe what he was seeing. He’s still alive! He really woke up, just when I was assaulting Caroline! Is it a coincidence? Or is it all part of his plan? Before Andrew could process his thoughts, David had already gotten out of bed. He stood tall and had an intimidating aura. There was an air of overwhelming pressure that surrounded him. “Take him away,” David waved his hand. “We’ll settle our scores, one by one.” Andrew was still shouting as the bodyguards dragged him away. David took a couple of steps toward the door. He then glanced at Caroline. Caroline’s head was lowered, and her arms were wrapped around her exposed skin. She wanted to ask him if what she saw this morning was real. She also wanted to ask why he hadn’t stopped Andrew when he was tearing her clothes off earlier. He must have known and had the chance to intervene, but he didn’t. But the overwhelming pressure that surrounded David made her hesitant. He was even more unpredictable than she had imagined. “David…” “You think you’re worthy to call my name?” he said in a cold, emotionless voice. Caroline bit her lip, her voice caught in her throat. “Go back to your room,” David said as he turned to leave. “You’re not allowed to step foot outside the house without my permission.” After that, Caroline didn’t see David again. She was left alone in the vast manor and only heard news and gossip from the media about David. It was said that he had finally taken control of the Ellison family and had become its undisputed leader! He had even assumed the dual roles of Executive CEO and Chairman of Ellison Group. He had gained control of the entire company and could command everyone at his will. What was even more impressive was the fact that he had discovered the culprit who poisoned him—it was his own step-mother, Marilyn. He wasted no time in sending her to prison and hired a team of lawyers to charge her with attempted murder. For that, Marilyn received a life sentence. Dressed in a silver-gray suit, he casually sat on the sofa with his legs crossed. “Today, we’re going to your place,” he said in his usual cold voice. Caroline found it strange. Why is he bringing up my old place now? I have no intention of going back to that house.
