Chapter 84 Stop Entangling
He ran as fast as he could, sweat dripping from his forehead and his breathing labored.
When Nash saw her, his concern grew even more. âCaroline!â He rushed over, his eyes scanning her anxiously from head to toe. âAre you alright?â
Caroline shook her head slightly.
âI didnât see your messages, I didnât reply, and I definitely didnât set up this meeting,â Nash said quickly. âI just found out about it and rushed over. Julia didnât do anything to you, did she?â
Before Caroline could respond, Julia abruptly got to her feet. âNash, whatâs that supposed to mean? Do you think Iâd hurt her? Is that why you came rushing over like this?â Her voice turned defensive as she added, âWhy donât you care about me? What if she was the one who hurt me first? Iâm your fiancée! Shouldnât I matter more to you than she does?â
Julia had lived a life of privilege, indulged and accustomed to everything bending to her will. When upset, she relied on others to soothe and comfort her.
âNash, I only asked her to meet because I wanted to see what kind of woman you liked back in college. I wanted to know what made her so special so I could learn from it and make our relationship even stronger. Why do you always assume the worst about me?â
Nash hesitated, his expression unsure. âJulia, I⦠well, thisâ¦â
Julia stomped her foot, her frustration evident. âAnd another thingâyouâve never been a couple, and you havenât spoken since graduation. Why does she think she can just ask for your help now? Because there was no one to turn to.
She only had herself.
Nash moved to stand beside Julia. âJulia, Caroline isnât what you think. And⦠I do owe her something. If sheâs in trouble, I want to help. Weâre just friends, so donât overthink it.â
âFriends? What kind of friend messages you late at night?â
âShe probably had an urgent issue,â Nash said, glancing at Caroline. âIâm sorryâJulia has full access to my

âItâs fine,â Caroline replied with a faint smile. âSheâs not wrongâI was out of line. Iâm sorry. It wonât happen again. Let me cover the bill for today.â
Not wanting to stay any longer, she went to the front desk, paid, and left in a taxi.
She had always known Nash was engaged, but this was her first time meeting Julia.
Julia was undeniably beautiful, wealthy, and deeply in love with Nash. They made a perfect pair.
Even if Nash had been watching over her all this time, and even if he was the biological father of her child, the fact remainedâ¦
It was time for them to stop being in contact.
Caroline sighed, realizing she had been too desperate for evidence. In her rush, she had crossed a line by reaching out to Nash.
