At home
He even got home earlier than me! Damn! How do I go inside now? She thought pacing back and forth outside the room.
She put her ear against the door, trying to hear, but she heard nothing from the other side. She slowly opened the door and peeked in. âhe isnât here?â She looked, turning her head around. She then heard the sound of the shower.
Nowâs my chance! She thought. She entered and closed the door slowly, trying not to make any sound.
âYouâre late.â She was startled by his voice.
âY-youâre not in the shower?â Teresa stammered seeing him at her side.
âNo, Iâve been waiting for you behind this door.â He smiled.
âThatâs cheating!â Teresa complained.
âSo let us continue our talk?â He cornered her against the wall. âso you got jealous, wifey?â
âAs I said I was not.â She denied.
âYou were.â
âWasnât.â
âWere.â
âI said I wasnât.â Teresa began to hit him.
âOuch. Why are you hitting me?â
âCause youâre blabbering nonsense.â She was about to hit him again but he caught her hands and pinned it against the door.
âYou were jealous.â He whispered in her ears.
She bit her lips and he was simply enjoying seeing his wife flustered. âOkay fine, Iâll let you off for now.â He let her go and stepped away from her. Teresa sighed with relief but after few seconds âJealous, jealous.â He began to sing with a wide grin on his face. But suddenly the grin disappeared as his wife looked at him with a murderous glare and her hands picked a vase.
âOh shit.â And it was the time for him to run, Run for his life.
âTeresa, No, not that. please!â He shouted stepping back. âHere, You can use this instead.â He offered a pillow but his wife was already targeting him with the vase.
Ryouma closed his eyes covering his head with his hands but nothing came.
He opened his one eye then the other and found his wife trying to suppress her laugh.
âWhat?â He composed himself.
âNothing. Youâre too funny, dear husband.â She smiled at him.
âYou hit your head somewhere?â Ryouma looked at her with a puzzled expression.
She eyes squinted to the side gesturing him to look at the door, where he found his mother staring at them.
âDid I tell you how much I love you mother?â Ryouma rushed to his mother and hugged her.
âWhat the hell is wrong with you?â His mother eyed him suspiciously.
âNothing. You just saved my life.â He smiled at his mother.
âDid he hit his head somewhere?â She asked Teresa.
âHe was about to.â Teresa shrugged.
âBut why are you here?â Ryouma asked his mother.
âOh I almost forgot. Teresa, the things you asked for....â Midori trailed off as she saw Teresa shaking her head vigorously with finger on her lips, behind Ryouma.
Ryouma turned to looked at his wife but saw her eyes wandering around the room.
âWhat are you guys planning? Did you guys plant a bomb here or what?â Ryouma eyed them suspiciously.
âWhat planning? I think mom he actually hit his head somewhere.â Teresa nodded.
âYeah. I think so too, okay then good night.â Midori excused herself and was about to go back.
âWait, werenât you telling her something?â Ryouma questioned his mother.
âYeah but now she doesnât want to, right mom?â Teresa smiled at mom.
âWhy?â Ryouma was getting even more suspicious of them.
âGirls talk. Why are you so interested?â Teresa glared at him.
âBut...â
âyeah Ryouma, why are you so interested?â Both the women glared at him.
âOkay fine. I donât want to know your âgirlâs talkâ or whatever it is. Stop giving me that look now. Scary women!â Ryouma folded rolled his eyes.
âThen Good night.â Mom cheerfully wished them.
âGood night.â Ryouma replied.
After his mom went, he looked at his wife.
âWhat?â Teresa glared at him.
âWhat were you guys whispering about?â Ryouma asked his wife.
âI thought you were not interested.â Teresa replied.
âBut itâs suspicious, are you guys planning something against me?â Ryouma raised his brows.
âOh so youâre worried about that donât worry I am not that cruel to team up with your mother against you. I am more than capable to trouble you on my own. So, you can sleep peacefully without worrying about anything âkay? And if you want to worry then worry about tomorrowâs presentation not about useless things.â
âYou should be worried for tomorrow because youâre going to lose.â Ryouma grinned.
âWeâll see.â Teresa threw a pillow at him and ducked her head inside the blanket.
âYes, youâll see.â Ryouma threw the pillow back to her.
They both turned their laptop on and started to work. Ryouma on the couch and Teresa on the bed. They both had works to complete for tomorrow as both of them couldnât properly concentrate on their works for past few days.
Teresa sighed. Seeing that her husband was not in his place she looked around, she got up from her bed and decided to take a peek at his work. âNo Teresa!â She slapped her cheeks. âBut Iâm just going to take a look, nothing else.â She muttered.
âWhat are you doing?â Ryouma tapped her shoulder.
âOh no!â She screamed startled by his presence. âI wasnât doing anything.â She replied avoiding his gaze.
âThen go back to your seat or you do want to have a look of my project? I can show it to you but your confidence is going to crush down after that so I suggest you better not see it.â
âYeah right! Mr. overconfident! Letâs see you talk after you lose tomorrow!â She turned away making a âhumphâ sound, back to her work.
Morning
Breakfast Table
Ryoumaâs P.O.V
âNervous, wifey?â I patted her shoulder.
âWhy would I be?â She rolled her eyes.
âThen stop tapping the table, itâs annoying.â I pointed at her hands which were constantly tapping the table.
She stopped tapping the table but now was biting her nails.
âTeresa, youâll be fine âkay? Youâve done well.â I assured her wife patting her back to calm her down.
âBut she started shaking her legs, making the breakfast table shake too.
âStop it youâre making me nervous too.â I yelled as I lost my patience.
âAm I hearing things or you just said youâre nervous?â Dad laughed.
âDad please. I am not nervous but looking at her is getting me nervous, Say something.â I asked Dad for help.
âRyouma is right Teresa, relax. Youâve done well and youâll do well. Fighting!â Dad curled his fingers into a fish, encouraging her.
âExactly. So donât be nervous and donât make me nervous either. Youâll do well.â I patted her back.
She nodded.
âCome, letâs go.â I extended my hand to her. She looked at my face then to my hand and back to my face.
âWeâre going to the same place? No need to give me that look.â
âSorry but today Iâll be dropping her to the office.â Mom slapped my hands away and held her hands.
âWhy?â I looked at her confusedly.
âBecause I want to, youâve got any problem with that?â Mom glared at me.
âNo, but weâre going to the same place so Iâll take her with me, why do you need to drop her?â
âRyouma, I said Iâll drop her then Iâll drop her.â She said with a stern face trying not to yell.
âOkay, no need to yell.â âHey dad, can you accompany them both?â I went to dad and whispered.
âWhy?â Dad looked at me with a puzzled expression.
âNothing but seems like theyâre plotting something against me.â I whispered.
âWhy, you think itâs a daily soap that theyâll plot against you? Mother in law and daughter in law plotting against own son/husband?â Dad mocked me.
âDad!â
âFine, Iâll come with them, happy?â
âthank you.â
The next day
Companyâs anniversary party
Third personâs P.O.V
âCongratulations dear, you got the project.â Rihito hugged Teresa.
âYup, thank you.â Teresa hugged back cheerfully.
âCongratulations.â Ryouma smiled at her.
âCongratulations to you too.â She smiled back.
âSo in the end, you both are going to work together. No one won hmm?â Rihito said in a disappointing tone.
âI guess.â Teresa replied.
âBut I was so excited to see Ryouma get defeated.â Rihito pouted.
âIn your dreams, buddy, In your dreams.â Ryouma patted Rihitoâs back sympathizing him.
âBut even though you two are working together, she did get the project so I guess I won the bet hmm? You owe me one, bro.â Rihito grinned.
âI guess so.â Ryouma nodded.
âYay! Finally I get to make you do something, but not now later.â Rihitoâs grin widened.
âFine.â Ryouma rolled his eyes.
âRina! Here.â Teresa waved at her best friend who just entered the party.
âIâll be back.â Teresa excused herself and ran to her best friend.
âCongratulations bff.â Rina hugged her.
âWell congratulations to you too. But that aside, help me with my problem.â Teresa pouted.
âWhat problem?â Rina raised her brows.
âI told you about it, yesterday night? I mean I declared that Iâll make my stupid husband fall for me and blah and blah but I realised I havenât done anything to win him over, in fact this whole period Iâve done nothing but fight with him. I donât even know the type of girl he likes and like an idiot Iâve been declaring that Iâll make him fall for me, like this not even his shoes will like me.â Teresa complained.
âWhy should his shoes like you?â
âDonât go on the words, just understand the meaning and help me out.â
âSo go and ask him his type?â Rina suggested Teresa.
âOh yeah? As if! Last time after the things with Sara he still teases me about me getting jealous over him and now you expect me to go and ask his type? Heâll haunt me my entire life. If I had to be so obvious, I would have went and told him directly that I love him but I want to make him confess first, not me! You get that?â
âOkay, I get it. So what do you expect me to do?â Rina sighed.
âHelp me with it.â
âFine Iâll do something. Letâs go.â Teresa and her best friend walked to her husband and his best friend.
After a while Rina randomly pointed at a girl in the crowd, âRihito, isnât that your girlfriend?â
âWhere?â Rihito looked around.
âRight there.â Rina pointed.
âNo, but not a bad choice maybe I should make her my girlfriend.â Rihito said with his index finger on his chin.
âSeriously? Youâre literally fine with any girl?â Rina gave him a disgusted look.
âYeah, as long as itâs a girl, heâs fine with anyone.â Answered Ryouma.
âBut you must have a type right?â Teresa jumped in and asked Rihito, understanding her best friendâs trick.
Teresa and Rina gave a knowing smile to each other.
âYeah, beautiful women are my weakness.â He winked.
âHey guys, what are you talking about?â Ren joined them.
âNothing, just about the type of girl Rihito likes.â Teresa answered him.
âBy the way what is your type?â Rina asked him.
âYou know my type.â He winked at Teresa.
Ryouma was waiting for Teresa to ask the type of girl he like but realized she was too busy to flirt with her so called best friend Ren. Ryouma clears his throat.
âWhat?â Teresa looked at him.
âYouâve got nothing to ask me?â Ryouma questioned.
âNot really, but if you want to you can tell your type too.â Teresa acted as if she was not interested.
âNot interested.â Ryouma replied.
âThen donât bother.â Rina faked a smile.
Teresa hit her elbow but Rina just smiled and told her to wait.
âBut if youâre insisting then I donât mind telling you.â Ryouma replied.
âWeâre not really interested but go ahead.â Teresa bit her nails.
âShort haired but not too short.â Ryouma started while Teresa looked at her long hair and pouted.
âpolite and doesnât shout every single minute, behaves like a lady and doesnât fight on every single conversation, knows how to cook and not like someoneâs disastrous cooking that would make even a healthy man sick.â With Ryoumaâs every single word Teresa realized sheâs exactly the opposite of every single thing he described.
âOkay thatâs enough.â She cut him. âWe didnât ask for that much of a detail.â Teresa said sulking.
âNo, thereâs more.â Ryouma smiled seeing her getting irritated. Why should he be the only one getting irritated? Sometimes she should too.
âNo thank you, that much was enough. We didnât even ask you in the first place.â Teresa rolled her eyes. âLetâs go Rina, itâs suffocating here.â Teresa glared at her husband and left dragging her best friend along.
âI swear if I stayed a little more I would have kicked him there. He likes short hair? And what I fight him in every single conversation? Heâs the one who starts it and what else? My cooking is disastrous? I cooked for the first time in my entire life, What does he expect? I canât expertise within a night.â Teresa huffed crossing her arms.
âCalm down Teresa.â
âWhat to do? His type is exactly my opposite!â Within a second her anger vanished and she had pitiful expression on her face.
âAww, he was just teasing you idiot.â Rina smiled but Teresa was too busy in her own world.
âShould I cut my hair? But I donât want to! Should I now join cooking class? And I should keep my anger in check too. Remind me not to pick a fight with him too. What else?â Teresa began to think deeply.
âAre you even listening to me?â Rina clicked her fingers in front of Teresaâs eyes.
âYes Iâve decided Iâm joining cookery classes from tomorrow.â She clasped her hands.
âI guess, no use telling you anything. Sure Iâll introduce you to a good cooking school.â Rina sighed.
âReally? Thank you.â Teresa hugged her.
âI can at least do this for you.â Rina smiled.
âJust you wait, Iâll shock him with my cooking.â Teresa said determinedly.
âYou already did.â Rina laughed.
âI mean in a good way, like âtada! surprise!â Ah I know Iâll bake the cake for his birthday by my self. I hope I can learn to bake a cake within a week.â Teresa looked at Rina.
âOf course, just make sure you donât blow the cooking school.â Rina clicked her tongue.
Home
Ryouma and Teresa knocked on to each other while entering the washroom.
âGo ahead.â Ryouma stepped back.
âNo you go first.â
âHuh? Come again?â Ryouma couldnât believe his ears.
âGo ahead.â Teresa gives him the way.
âWhy? Normally you go first by throwing me out.â Ryouma narrowed his eyes at her.
âFor a change I thought you should go first.â She smiled at him.
âYou didnât set any trap inside, right?â Ryouma asked her suspiciously.
âCome on husband you think Iâll do that?â She asked him with an innocent look on her face.
âYes.â He nodded.
âJUST..â Teresa realized sheâs raising her voice, she calmed herself. âJust go husband, you first.â
Ryouma eyed his wife suspiciously.
âJust go, I insist.â She smiled.
Ryouma slowly opened the washroomâs door and immediately stepped back.
He then slowly peeped inside, up and down, left and right, then he looked back at his wife who was smiling at him.
âThe bathroom is okay but something is wrong.â He thought.
He then gave a small smile to his wife and entered, finally assured that the bathroom was safe for him.
Early morning
Ryouma woke up startled by a noise. He actually dreamt someone bombed his car but when he woke up he was in his own room and weirdly it was 7 in morning and his wife was nowhere in the room.
âwhat the hell is going on?â He thought to himself and went downstairs to check where the noise came from.
As he entered the kitchen the whole kitchen was smoky and he heard coughs of maids.
âWhat the hell is this?â He found his dad shout beside him.
âLike I have any idea!â Ryouma replied.
From the smoke, emerged two figures, his mom and his dear wife.
âSorry mom I messed up again.â Teresa said with tears on her eyes.
âItâs okay dear, at your age I was worse.â She patted her back.
âReally?â Teresa looked at her mother in law.
âReally! Youâll eventually learn so donât worry okay?â Mom assured her.
Teresa nodded.
âWhat is this?â Ryouma questioned his wife.
âNothing.â She smiled.
âMom?â Ryouma turned to his mother.
âNothing son, we were preparing the breakfast.â Mom replied.
âPreparing the breakfast or trying to blow the house?â Ryouma stared at his wife.
âRyouma, donât be rude, at least sheâs trying to learn.â Mom slapped his back.
âI donât understand, why the hell did you suddenly want to cook?â Ryouma questioned his wife.
âBecause I wanted to.â She replied.
âYeah but why? Especially when youâre so bad at it.â Ryouma pointed at the smoky kitchen.
âNo one will learn if they already know it. Isnât that obvious she wants to learn cooking because sheâs bad at it?â Midori scolded her son.
âYeah but why did she suddenly have the urge to learn it?â
âBecause youâre good at it and I donât want to be behind you in anything.â Teresa thought of an excuse.
âHaha, you want to defeat me in cooking? You got luck with the project but youâre thousand years early for this.â Ryouma laughed.
âWhatever.â Teresa pouted.
âBut still best of luck.â Ryouma said trying to suppress his laugh.
âThank you.â Teresa replied with a smile.
âNormally she would shout at me for making fun of her. but today sheâs smiling at me?â Ryouma eyed her suspiciously.
The whole morning he tried to provoke her but all she did was smile at him. Even at the breakfast table he would constantly tease her but she, again smiled at him.
âWhat is wrong with her? Is she actually Teresa? Did she eat something weird?â Ryouma looked at her worriedly.
Ryouma prepared to leave but Teresa didnât move from her seat.
âYouâre going to be late, if you sit around and chat like this. And out of pity for todayâs morning Iâll drop you. Hurry up, letâs go.â Ryouma held his wifeâs hand and pulled her from her seat.
âWhy should she go with you? Sheâs staying home today.â Mom pulled her back.
âWhy? Sheâs got very important works to do.â Ryouma protested.
âWhat do you mean why? You plan to make her workaholic like you? Excuse me but Iâve already got two workaholics in my house and Iâm so not letting her be the third one. Itâs been so long weâve sit and talk and itâs your entire fault, you made her join your office. Sorry son but you just canât have your wife to yourself. Sheâs my daughter and todayâs my day with her and if you get lonely bear it but donât you dare interfere.â Midori warned her son.
âOkay fine, have her, Not that Iâll get lonely or whatsoever. She just has her works pending but itâs her problem, not that I care.â
âThen bye bye.â Both mother and daughter in law waved him bye.
âTheyâre obviously plotting something.â thought Ryouma.
