Office
The office staffs were gossiping about yesterdayâs party, especially the girls who made a circle around the table in cafeteria.
âHey, youâve heard the latest news about the boss?â asked one of the girls.
âYeah, I heard boss was with Madam S last night. I even heard they were engaged few years ago.â replied the other one.
âYou think that they...â Just then they found Teresa listening to their conversation with much interest.
âContinue, donât mind me.â Teresa smiled at them.
âWeâre so sorry, mam.â They got up and bowed.
âItâs okay, but can you tell me what exactly you guys were gossiping about? Kinda got my interest.â Teresa pulled a chair and she asked them to sit too. Ryouma didnât return home last night and when questioned about it he didnât give a proper reply so their âtalkâ picked Teresaâs interest.
âNo nothing really, right.â A girl in a pink dress elbowed the one with blue shorts and light yellow shirt. âyeah, nothing at all.â The girl smiled nervously.
âCome on I wonât tell anyone I swear! Iâll even treat you guys, so what about last night? Ryouma was with whom?â Teresa asked tapping her fingers on the table.
Few minutes later
âIf he was with Sara, why did he have to lie to me? Itâs not like I was going to do anything if he told the truth. I need to talk to him.â She nodded and went to her husbandâs cabin.
âHey.â She entered his cabin but he was about to go somewhere. âAre you going somewhere?â
âYeah, important work, gotta go.â He smiled.
âOh, something that I can help with?â She asked with concern.
âNah, can manage it. But our date is on, okay? I may not be able to pick you up but be there, yeah? Bye, see you.â He hugged her.
âOkay, best of luck for whatever it is.â She hugged him back.
âYeah thanks, but be there for lunch okay? Sharp 1 pm. Itâs really important.â He reminded her planting a soft kiss on her forehead.
She nodded. She touched her forehead and grinned as she watched him leave. âIsnât he acting too sweet?â She blushed smiling like an idiot.
She suddenly slapped her cheeks. âSnap out of it, Teresa!â
âBut wait, whatâs this important talk about? for which heâs so flustered since last night?â She thought. âOh no, I also didnât get to ask him about Sara. I hope she is not in some kind of a trouble, Iâll just ask her anyway.â She muttered and went searching for Sara.
âHey, have you seen Sara anywhere?â she asked one of the staff.
âNo mam.â He replied.
âOkay thanks. continue your work.â She smiled. âShe did come to work, where did she go?â She thought for a minute then something strike her mind, âSam must know about his wife.â She smiled to herself and entered Samâs cabin.
âHey Sam, you know where Sara is?â She asked.
âWhy would I know? Nowadays sheâs been into her own world.â Sam rolled his eyes.
âIs something wrong? Everything okay between you and Sara?â She asked with concern.
âTeresa, Iâm sorry but Iâm busy right now, can we talk later?â He replied in a rude manner.
âOkay.â
âWhatâs with him? Something is wrong. I donât remember him being that rude. He was always a sweet guy.â She sighed. âWhere to find Sara?â She bit her nails. âWhat was her name again? Our officeâs gossip queen? Merina? Maybe she has seen her.â
âHey, have you seen Sara?â Teresa asked the girl.
âYeah she went out with boss few minutes ago.â The girl replied.
âBoss? Ryouma?â Teresa frowned.
âYeah mam.â The girl answered.
âokay thanks.â Teresa was now getting more suspicious of her husband. No! He already said he has nothing to do with her so donât let stupid thoughts ruin your day, Teresa! She clapped her hands and took her phone out.
âRyouma, where are you?â She called her husband.
âI told you I had an important work?â He replied.
âAre you with Sara?â She questioned.
âNo, why?â He lied flatly.
âNothing, then see you at lunch.â She cut the call.
âWhy does he need to lie? Whatâs with everyone? Why is everyone acting so suspicious?â She shouted in the corridor gaining everyoneâs attention. She looked at them and everyone resumed their work. âForget it, Iâll directly confront him on lunch.â
*******
âAh damn, I reached here too early.â Teresa sighed as she reached the hotel, an hour before her lunch date. Just then she got a call from her husband, âGreat timing!â She smiled to herself and answered the call. âTeresa, I am really sorry but I really canât make up to our lunch.â He said it in one breath.
âWhy? Iâm already he...â
âI know Iâm really sorry.â He cut her off.
âOkay, what can we do now, if youâve got works to do?â She pouted.
âReally? Thank you so much. Youâre not angry right?â
âWhat if I am?â
âIâll make it up to you later?â
âOf course but you know next time youâll have to take me on a super expensive place and order me the most expensive dish there and Iâll eat lots and lots of expensive food, be prepared to empty your pockets.â She threatened him.
âYeah sure. Thanks once again.â He laughed.
âBye.â She smiled cutting the call.
âBut Iâm already here, Iâll have the lunch and go, Iâm already hungry.â She said to herself and entered the hotel. But as soon as she entered she saw her husband there. âOh? Didnât he have some important work?â She was about to call him but she hid immediately behind a pillar, when she saw Sara with him.
âWhy am I hiding?â She clicked her tongue, she then slowly peeked and saw them enter the lift after talking to the receptionist.
âDo they have some meeting here? them who went just now?â She inquired at the table.
âMr and Mrs Carlton?â
Hearing the receptionist calling them Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Teresa scowled, âYeah, Mr. and Mrs. Carlton.â She gritted her teeth. But they were Mr. and Mrs. Carlton, Just that heâs Mr. Ryouma Carlton and sheâs Mrs. Sam Carlton but still hearing that made her blood boil with anger and jealousy.
âMeeting? Today we didnât have a booking for any conference or meetings.â The girl replied.
âThen can you tell me why are they here?â Teresa enquired further.
âI am sorry mam, but weâre not allowed to give any information.â
âNo, Iâm actually from their family. My card, Teresa Carlton.â Teresa showed her card to the receptionist. âand just wanted to know if they had a booking for lunch?â
âYeah but thatâs cancelled now.â
âSo thereâs no meeting either? What the hell are are they doing then?â Teresa murmured.
âThey are couple mam, they just booked a suite right now.â The receptionist giggled.
âAh! A suite, is it?â Teresa forced a laugh.
Night time
Pub
âI am getting so drunk tonight.â Teresa yelled and gulped down the shot in one breath.
âRelax Teresa.â Rina patted her best friendâs back.
âShut up. I am going to kill him today!â She shouted and took another shot.
âthereâs nothing like what youâre thinking at least confront him.â Rihito said in Ryoumaâs defense.
âOf course Iâll do that too! You think Iâll let him off the hook?â She gulped down another one. âI know there must have been some misunderstanding but how dare he lie to me?â She cried. âI donât want to have any negative thoughts but he lies to me, acts all suspicious, books a hotel suite?â She shouted and hiccuped.
âAnd you have such a little tolerance to alcohol.â Rihito snatched her drink.
âThis is it! Iâm done with him. Now itâs this way or the other no in between.â Teresa stood up. âIâm going to make him confess everything today, Iâm not going to wait anymore. He has to decide today what am I to him? Today itâll be final, Iâll decide to leave him or stay with him, according to his answer.â Teresa nodded and tried to walk but she staggered.
âWait, Teresa.â Rina held her. âCome Iâll drop you.â
âBut Rina, the floor is dancing. Howâll we go?â Teresa gasped staring at the foor.
âForget it, Iâll drop you both.â Rihito held his head and sighed.
After they got inside the car, Teresaâs phone rang. âOh my husbandâs calling me. But why should I pick your call you jerk!â She cut the call.
âOh, he even messaged me? Wait the words are dancing.â She tried to focus on the text, gluing her eyes on the phone, âSowwie, couldnât mawe up to the lunnh. Dinne at 8?â Guys letâs go fo dinnel, he invieed me fo dinnel.â Teresa grinned.
âItâs 12 already my dear.â Rina patted her back.
âOops, so I shud call him bakk? but why are the numbers flying? Catch it for me, I need to call my husband!â She poked Rina.
âNumbers arenât flying, itâs you whoâs drunk! Give it to me Iâll call him for you.â Rihito snatched her phone and called Ryouma.
âWhere the hell are you? Not even picking up my call, not replying to my messages, you had me really worried, idiot!â Ryouma scolded as soon as he picked up.
âRyouma, itâs me.â Rihito replied.
âYouâre with her? Where is she? Is she okay?â Ryouma inquired.
âSheâs fine but youâre not going to be. Where are you?â
âIâm home.â
âOkay then remove all the sharp object from your room that can harm either of you.â Rihito warned him.
âwhat?â
âand yeah pick up your wife from your door too. Iâll drop her.â
Home
âOh Iâm homeee! Hello husband!â Teresa got down from the car and fell onto Ryouma.
âHow could you let her get this drunk? She canât even stand.â Ryouma shouted.
âItâs your mistake donât blame me.â Rihito retorted. âTake her inside already, she got me tired.â
âCome, Letâs get you inside.â Ryouma held his wife.
âheâs not coming inside?â Teresa pointed at Rihito.
âNo.â
âhow cruel? Youâll leave him out in this cold like you did to me yesterday?â She looked like sheâll cry any minute.
âTeresa, why will he be here outside? Heâll go to his own house.â Ryouma sighed.
âAh! yeah, so I should go to my house too?â
âYou are in your house.â
âBut I donât want to!â She sat on door step.
âWhy?â
âBecause he must be inside.â
âWho?â
âMy demonic husband.â She replied. Ryouma rolled his eyes. âwhy are you looking at me like that? You donât believe me? Heâs a demon, I swear!â Teresa touched her neck.
âIâm sure he is.â Ryouma faked a smile.
âHe gets angry on little things and shouts at me! No I donât want to ggoo, he must be very angry, I didnât pick up his call.â Teresa refused to go inside the house.
âOf course Iâll tell him not to get angry on you, okay? Letâs go.â Ryouma tried to convince her.
âPinky Promise?â She held out her pinky finger.
âyeah, yeah promise, letâs go?â He held her hand and pulled her up. âbut shhh you shouldnât make noise and wake everyone.â Ryouma whispered.
âokay, Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!â She whispered back. âBuuuutttttttttt!!!! I dooonât want too goooo!âShe shouted as soon as they entered.
âShut up. Youâre not supposed to shout.â He scolded her in a whispering tone.
âOh yeah I forgot sorrrryyyy!!!â She whispered.
âBut why is this floor dancing? thereâs no music but itâs still dancing.â Teresa stared at the ground.
âItâs you whoâs drunk.â Ryouma muttered.
âI canât walk on this dancing floor. Iâll fall and if I fall... Iâll fall and If i fall Itâll hurt and if it hurts, I bleed and if I bleed then I die So, I canât walk because Iâll fall and if I fall Iâll Fa..â
âYouâll fall.â Ryouma completed her.
She nodded. âSo letâs sit here until it stops dancing.â She sat on the floor. Ryouma picked her up in a bridal style. âWhat are you doing?â She shouted.
âNow you wonât fall, letâs go?â Ryouma glared at her.
âYayy!! Goooo! GOO!!!â She cheered happily.
âWait! Wait! Put me down.â She kicked her legs as soon as they reached their room.
âNow what?â
âIf my husband sees me like this with you heâll kill us both. Even though thereâs nothing between us heâll kill us both. Heâs a demon. So now you go your home now, thank you for dropping me!â She smiled.
âSure, welcome. But Iâll hand you over to your husband first then Iâll go home, kay?â
âOkay.â
Ryouma placed his wife on the bed. âWait here, Iâll get you some water.â
âOh husband stop right there!â She shouted.
âwhat?â He glared at her.
âI need to ask something first.â She took a knife from the fruitâs basket and cornered him.
âTeresa... thatâs... a knife.â Ryouma stammered.
âyeah! And Iâll decide I should or shouldnât cut your head off your neck, depending upon your answer.â She threatened him with the knife on his neck.
âWe can play this question answer without that too. Take it away!â² Ryouma shouted.
âShhhhhhhhhhhhh! Donât or iâll..â Teresa placed the knife touching his neck.
âokay, I wonât. Just get it away.â He sweated.
âSo my first question, are you having an affair with Sara?â She questioned.
âHuh?â
âYes or no?â
âNo, of course not.â Ryouma yelled.
âhehe I knew it.â Teresa giggled.
âNext, why did you lie to me saying that you werenât with Sara? And donât you dare say you werenât. Iâll stab this on your neck. I have many witnesses in office and I myself saw you with her in that hotel. Yes or NO?â She asked in a threatening manner.
âYes, but get that thing away.â Ryouma begged..
âgood boy, now did you book a suite there? Yes or NO?â
âYes.
âWas it for Sara and..â
âwasnât. It was for Sam and Sara.â
âGood.â
âWhy was the hotel staff referring you guys as Mr. and Mrs. Carlton? I am your Mrs. Carlton!â She glared.
âOf course you are. But technically Iâm Mr. Carlton and sheâs Mrs. Sam Carlton so I think receptionist got confused.â Ryouma replied.
âYeah I too thought of that but itâs still maddening me. Okay then since you answered all the things correctly so I release you from the deaath sentence.â Teresa finally got the knife off his neck.
âThank you.â Ryouma sighed with relief and threw the knife away.
âBut, what were you doing with her? You were with her last night too? Why did you lie to me?â
âHow did you get to know I was with her?â
âDonât underestimate a wife, never...hicc.... She can smell out the lies of her husband aaand I found some sources, gossips from the office,...hic...did you knew our office has a gossip queen? She literally has every answer for.....hic....every question.â Teresa jumped excitedly.
âI see. Look Sam and Sara had some issue going on between them from past one month and I thought until you hear from them itâs not my thing to tell about it right? I mean itâs their issue and I just heard it by chance but now iâll tell you everything because of their issue I donât want an issue in my life.â Ryouma clicked his tongue.
âYeah I did hear about them getting a divorce but I thought it was a just rumor?â Teresa blinked.
âWhom did you hear it from?â
âI canâ tell you, I made a pomise.â
âOkay fine, but because of that I had to help Sara get things clear with Sam so I actually locked them up together in that suite and came here and Iâm done with them now, after this I hope they sort it out or if they donât Iâm not interfering anymore.â Ryouma folded his hands together.
âBut what did they fight about that almost..hic... reached getting a divorce?â Teresa widened her eyes and covered her mouth.
âI donât know whatâs with all the wives suspecting their husband having an affair? Who feed you guys with this rubbish?â Ryouma glared at her.
âExcuse me,...hic.... you doubted me first.â She defended.
âSo settling scores by doubting me back?â
âForget it, but why would Sara...hic... doubt Sam?â Teresa pouted.
âSeems like she came in her friendâs words and even followed him, checked his phones and I donât know what not and our Sam can tolerate anything but doubting him and invading his comfort zone, so they had a huge fight after which misunderstanding kept up piling they didnât talk to each other much and thatâs that.â He explained.
âLet me tell you I didnât follow you or anything.....hic..... I just reached there early and happened to see you....hic.... guys.â She played with her hair and looked here and there. âBut she should have directly con...hic....fronted Sam instead of doing something like that how stupid!â Teresa hiccupped.
âOf course not every wife is smart like mine to threaten their husband with a knife.â Ryouma rolled his eyes. She nodded.
âNow if your questions are over, please go to sleep.â Ryouma begged her folding his hands together.
âNo.â She shook her head.
âThereâs more?â
âWe need to have an important talk now.â
âNow?â
âyeah, I donâ know about your imporrrtant tak but my tak is vey vey important so we need to tak.â Her speech was slurred.
âWhat about your important talk?â He asked.
âMy important talk is that I want to know what exactly I mean to you? What do you think of me? Just a contract wife? A friend? Something to tease, like a pet? Or anything else? And answer very carefully, itâll decide whether I should stay or leave, because Iâve had enough!â She ranted.
