Chapter 10
Mr.Billionaire Meets Ms.Clumsy
Emilyn yawns as she walks towards the front door and takes out her keys to unlock the door. When she opens the door, she sees someone who is not supposed to be here standing around her kitchen.
Her house isn't huge at all; when you come in from the front door, you can see straight to the kitchen.
"What are you doing here?" Emilyn asked, standing at the doorway with her left hand on the doorknob.
"Emilyn, don't be so rude to our guest." Grandma Lou scold. "Now, close the door and come over here." Emilyn groaned and walked towards the kitchen where they are.
"Hi, Mr Evans. May I know what you are doing here in my house?" Emilyn asked nicely.
"I saw your grandma on the way, so I decide to drop her at her house."
"Yeah, Mr Evans is very kind and has good manners." She praises him. Emilyn scoff in disbelief.
"Grandma Lou, I thought I told you to call me Christopher?"
"I'm sorry, a force of habit," Grandma Lou said with a smile.
"So, he drops you off; why is he still here?" Emilyn question.
"I invite him for dinner, and we just finish dessert a few minutes before you walk in. Do you want some? I left some for you."
"No, I'm good," Emilyn said and walked out of the kitchen. She places her bag down next to the couch and turns on the television. "I'm going to rest; why don't you have a small chat with my granddaughter? I promise she won't bite," they both laugh. Emilyn turned her head and saw them walking out of the
Emilyn narrowed her eyes at Christopher. There's no way she's going to have a small chat with him.
"I'm heading to my room now." Grandma Lou announces as she walks past the living room. But before she goes to her room, she gave Christopher a little nudged forward to the couch. Emilyn turned back around to face the tv.
Emilyn didn't have to turn her head to the side when she gets the couch sink next to her. "Did you really pass by this neighborhood? Because it doesn't seem like you will coincidently pass by." Emilyn asked, not taking her eyes from the tv.
"Of course is all just a coincidence; I have a friend living around this area."
Emilyn scrunch my eyebrows and turn to face him. She narrowed her eyes and stare at him suspiciously, "Okay, I trust you for now." She said before turning her attention back to the tv.
"Since I'm here, should I tell you the activities I want to do for the interview?" He asked.
"Sure. Let me get something." She stood up to grab her back, which she places at the side of the couch. Taking out her tablet from her bag and walk back to the couch. "Okay, shoot."
"First, it will be next weekend. I'll be going to the dog shelter. 2 weeks later, I'll be going to my race track arena." He said as Emilyn took down what he said in her tablet.
"So, what about the timing?" She looks up.
"I'll give you the freedom to fix it." Christopher smiles
Emiyln nod and wrote it on her tablet. "So, why would you want to take upon this interview?" Emilyn asked, looking up at him. She caught him looking at her when she looks back up.
"Well, it will bring more attention to the public about my business and doing this interview could boost my image for the company." He explains.
Emilyn nod, "So, you just doing this interview to boost your business? What about yourself?
"I think it could bring my popularity higher." He said in an unsure tone. "Aren't all these interviews to boost business?" He asked.
"Yeah, I guess." Emilyn shrug. "Most rich businessmen usually reject our offer because they don't want others to interfere with their personal life."
"Well, it is their loss. My dad used to do it ages ago, and it works. So, why not." He shrugs.
Emilyn nod. "Okay, I'll notify you once the timetable is complete. It will be done by tomorrow, most likely," She said. Christopher's eyes stare right at her brown eyes. Emilyn can't take her eyes from him. It seems like his dark blue eyes are pulling her in.
"I'll get going now." Christopher clears his throat, pulling Emilyn out from her trance.
"Yeah, you should," Emilyn said, looking down. They both stood up from the couch; a nod makes their way towards the doors Emiyln opens the door for him. "So, bye." She said, standing at the side of the open door awkwardly.
"Bye." He said without any comments this time but gave Emilyn a toothy smile. As soon as Christopher both feet are out of her house, and she closes the door immediately.
Her back pressed against the door and breath. "What was that?" Emilyn asked herself. "Why did she stare back at him? Why couldn't she stop staring?"
Emilyn shakes her head and tried to get rid of the thought. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath in and out.
Dark blue eyes appear, and she quickly opens her eyes. "I think I'm going insane," Emilyn said. She shook off the image and got ready for bed. She needs it.
***
"Done," Emilyn said to herself. She double-checks the schedule and sends the pdf copy of the schedule to Christopher. Once she sends, immediately she received a message from him.
"Would you mind coming over to my office like now? I got some questions." He texted.
"Okay." She replies, packing up her things and head to his office.
"Hey, where are you going?" Andrew asked before she can make her way towards the front door.
"I'm going out to discuss my project."
"Ooh, is that the project on Christopher Evans?" He wiggles his eyebrow.
"Yes, you know that already. Why are you asking again?"
"Nothing."
Emilyn scrunch my eyebrows together, "Okay? I'll be going now." She steps to the side.
"Goodbye, good luck," Andrew shouted as she left the door.
Within 15 minutes, she has arrived at his floor. She spotted his assistant at his usual spot, "Hi, I'm here to see Mr Evans."
"His in, go ahead." He said and paid attention back to his laptop once again.
Emiyln knocked on the door and waited until she hears his voice. Slowly, she pushed the door. Emiyln spotted Christopher at his usual spot. As she closes the door and walks in, he didn't look up at all.
"Mr Evans?" Emiyln called out.
He looked up and scowled, "I thought I said you can call me Christopher."
"Sorry, a force of habit." She bit her lip.
"Come on, take a seat." He points to the sit in front of him
"So, I've sent the schedule to you. What are your questions about it?" Emilyn asked, pulling out her tablet just in case she has to change some things.
"So, we start the interview this weekend at 9 am?" he asked, looking at his phone whilst Emilyn looks on her tablet.
"Yes? Is that early?"
"No, it is fine. How does this interview going to be like?" He asked.
"I'll be there to take some pictures of you and while you are doing what you normally do, and I'll ask some questions," Emilyn explain.
"So, is only going to be you and me?" He points to Emilyn and then points back to himself.
"Yes, Is that a problem?"
"No, not a problem at all." He said with a smile.
"So, if there's nothing, I'll get going." Emilyn stood up, but before she can fully stand up, he said, "Want to grab lunch? It is lunchtime now." He looks at the watch on his wrist.
"I don't think is appropriate; I don't want that to happen again," Emilyn told him.
"We can always have it deliver."
"Uhm..." She ponders.
"Come on; this is a rare opportunity." He smirks.
I want to reject him, but her stomach said yes, "fine."
"Great." He clasped his hand. "What would you like to eat? I'll get my assistant to get it for us."
"I'm fine with anything," Emilyn told him.
He nodded and left his office; after a while, he returned. "My assistant will be back soon." Emilyn turns around in her seat and watches as he walks back behind his desk and takes a seat on his giant comfortable leather chair. The room went silent for a while; Emilyn fidgetted in her seat and played with her fingers. She doesn't do too well in a silent atmosphere.
"How about we play 30 questions?" He asked, breaking the silence.
"30 questions?" Emilyn asked. "Isn't it only 20 questions?"
"Why does it only have to be 20 questions? Why not 30? More questions to get to know the person more." He explains.
Emilyn nods in agreement.
"I'll start." He rubbed his jaw. "Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Wow, way to start with the question," Emiyln chuckles.
"Hey, I got to ask. Don't want some guy charging after me talking to his girlfriend." He said.
"true."
"So... any boyfriend?"
"None."
He nods. "Your turn."
Emilyn got a question ready, "Do you have a girlfriend?"
"Seriously?"
"What? You asked first, why don't I asked too. Don't want some girl barging in her seeing me in your office."
"Touche." He said, leaning back down on his seat comfortably. "I'm currently on the market again." A knocked on the door, and his assistant came in with a paper bag from Olive Garden. His assistant places the bag on his desk and left. Christopher continues to ask after he passes her the food, "Have you live anywhere else, instead of new york?"
"Nope, never left. Born and raised here." She scoops the vegetables into her mouth; after she chewed finish, she said, My turn. Are you sure that you coincidently in my neighborhood yesterday?"
"Yes, why would I lie."
Emilyn shrug, "I don't know. I don't know you that well, so I'm not sure about your intention."
He chuckles, "Yes, it is a coincidenceâmy turn.
Emilyn's phone interrupts their conversation, "Hello." She answers. "Okay, I will.....In 5 minutes."
"Am I interrupting something?" He asked.
"No, I got an emergency meeting back at the office. I got to go." Emilyn cover the container. "Thanks for lunch." She grabs the tablet that she had place on his desk earlier and places it into her bag.
"I'll see you this weekend?" He said
"Yeah. Don't forget; it is very important to me." Emilyn said, standing up, putting her bag over her head.
"Won't miss it." He said with a smile.
"Bye," Emilyn said and left his office.
A/N: So it seems like both of them are not arguing anymore. Christopher Evans acts like a jerk no more. So do you think him going to her house is a coincidence, or he purposely goes there?
