Chapter 16

Mr.Billionaire Meets Ms.Clumsy

"Okay, Ms. Walker. That's all for today, we will get back to you in a month or a few weeks." The nurse said. Emilyn nodded, thanking the nurse for her time before gathering her things and left the hospital.

Getting your blood check, checking your blood pressure, going through tons of checkups can be tiring. Emilyn walked to the park near the hospital and sat on the bench. She sighs. Emilyn places her hands on her head; she thinks about the possibility of what could happen if she isn't a match.

The sound of her phone ringtone sound, and she picked it up without looking at the caller ID, "Hello?"

"Emilyn, can you come over? I need help." It Is Ana on the line.

"Okay, I'll be there soon." Emilyn ends the call. With heavy steps, she took a cab to Ana's apartment.

"Hey." Ana greeted when she opened the door.  Ana take one look at Emilyn and knows, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm just tired." Emilyn yawns.

"Come in." Ana steps aside to let Emilyn walk into her apartment. "Now, tell me what's wrong?" Ana asked as they sat on the couch.

Emilyn sigh, "I just went and do a check-up to see if my liver is compatible with my grandma's. The nurse says I got to wait for a month or a few weeks."

"Don't worry, everything will be okay. If it is not compatible then there's always another way." Ana rubs soothingly on Emilyn's back. "If you need help, I'll be glad to help you."

"Thanks, Ana." Emilyn hugs her.

"Okay, enough of this sadness. You have to be strong no matter the consequences." Ana said. "Sometimes, we don't know what will happen in the future. We just have to accept it." Ana comforts Emilyn.

"Now, let's get this off your mind for a while. Let's talk about my wedding." Ana took out a few bridal books.

Emilyn smiles; a good change would be good for her. Whatever happens, happens. Emilyn just got to accept it and find another way to solve it.

"So, I was thinking that you'll be my maid of honor." Ana asked.

"Aww, I'll be honored," Emilyn reply. "So, any thought about your wedding dress?"

"Uhm...I've picked out some designs. I would like a heart shape neckline, the dress to fit my figure. Nothing poofy." Ana describes.

"Seems, like you got your option ready." Emilyn laughed.

"Don't joke about it, I still got a lot to plan. From the venue, the dates, the invitation, the food, the cake, and many more." Ana list everything out. "All these things are making my head hurts." Ana places a hand on her head and shake.

"Don't worry, I'll help you through it one by one," Emilyn ssured her.

"Thanks." Ana gave a warm smile. "So, is there anything going on between you and Christopher? You have the first interview with him, yesterday, right?"Ana raises an eyebrow, and the corner of her lips turn upward.

"Yes." Emilyn answer hesitantly. "And nothing else happen," Emilyn sigh. "Is just a normal interview. Why do you got to know everything about Christopher Evans and me? I told you nothing will ever happen."

"Oh, come one. I'm pretty sure there's a little something-something." Ana said.

"Well, after the interview he took me to lunch and he drops me off at my apartment," Emilyn told her.

"So this is what you call nothing." Ana smirks.

"And before he left, he asks me to accompany him to his brother's wedding next weekend."

Ana screamed, "What!" She drops the magazine she's holding on the table and turns to Emilyn. "He did what?"

"He asks me to his brother's wedding," Emilyn repeat.

"Did you say yes?"

"No, I told him that I'll think about it."

"Oh my god." Ana groaned. "Why can't you say yes?"

"Ana is weird. We are just friends who barely know each other. Out of the blue, he asks me to accompany him to a wedding. That's so weird, don't you think?"

"No, I don't think so. Just go with him." She pushed me. "What are you waiting for."

"Ana I told you is weird. And I've never been to a wedding before."

"So?" She said. "Just go, it will be fun. You love food don't you, they serve tons of food there and not to mention the cakes."

"Wow, that sounds really tempting." Emilyn bobbed her head.

"Just go." Ana persuade Emilyn

"Okay." Emilyn finally gives in and agree.

"Yes!" Ana shouted and pumped her fist into the air.

"Wow, I just agree to go to a wedding and you are this excited."

"Is part of my plan." Ana narrowed her eyes at Emilyn and smirk.

"You are so weird." Emilyn pushes her lightly on her shoulder. "Let's continue to plan your wedding." Ana picked up the magazine once again. "By the way, have you told your parents yet?"

"Uhmm..." Ana pauses. "Not yet."

"What? Why?" Emilyn asked.

"I just don't know what they will say, they always want me to marry someone with status," Ana said. "Do you remember that time when I introduced them to Finley?" Emilyn nods, remembering that time. "They were furious, they threaten him."

"I remember that time you came home crying because Finley was thinking of breaking up with you too because of your parents."

Ana nods, " Even now during those family events, I brought him back. They still are not fond of him, but they are slowly accepting him. Because he got a promotion on his job."

"Wow, I forget how hard Finley works to impress your family. I can't imagine how did you guys make it work." Emilyn said. "But you should at least tell your parents about your engagement."

"I know." Ana sigh. "I have a thought, what if I don't tell him until I finally tie the knot."

Emilyn slapped Ana's arm, "Are you crazy? Your parents will be even furious." She scolds Ana. "Remember when you brought me back home for spring break. They weren't even fond of me either."

"I know, you aren't my boyfriend or anything. And they keep asking you personal questions about your life."

Emilyn shiver remembering those days, "Luckily, they have grown fond of me." She smiles.

"Yeah, who ask you to be so cute and lovable. I know they bound to love you anytime." Ana pinches Emilyn cheeks, and she slapped Ana's hands away. "I got an idea, why don't you follow me and Finley to tell my parents the news. If you're there they won't get so mad."

"I don't want to be intruding."

"You won't be intruding, I'm sure, they will agree with you there."

"Okay." Emilyn agrees. "If you say so if it doesn't work. Don't blame me."

"I won't," Ana said happily. "Now, back to the magazines."

After, Emilyn and Ana flip through many pages of a bridal magazine and order some pizza. When it is late, Emilyn decided to call it a day and head home.

***

"Grandma, I'm home," Emilyn shouted and closed the door.

"Emilyn, you're back. Where have you been?" Grandma Lou poked her head out of the kitchen.

"I went over to Ana's house to help her with her wedding things," Emilyn explain.

Grandma Lou nods, "Have you eaten yet?"

"Yeah, me and Ana order pizza."

"Emilyn, I told you don't eat too many greasy foods." Grandma Lou scolds her.

"I didn't. Is just once in this month." Emilyn confess.

"Okay." Grandma Lou smiles. "Now get ready for bed, is getting late. You have work tomorrow."

"I will, goodnight grandma." Emilyn hugs her.

"Night my sweet baby girl." Grandma Lou kisses Emilyn on her forehead, and Emilyn heads to her bedroom.

When she got into her bedroom, she took out her phone and decide to text Christopher that she'll be accompanying him to the wedding. Christopher texts back immediately, "Great, I'll pick you up at 3 pm next Saturday." Emilyn wants to reply, but he texts her first, "By the way, I need those photos from today."

Emilyn chuckle and text back, "Will see."

"Goodnight." Christopher texts back, and Emilyn text him goodnight too. She locks my phone with a smile. Emilyn stops herself when she looks into the mirror at the side of her wall; what is she doing? Why is she smiling like a fool?  "Get it together Emilyn, don't let his perfectly beautiful blue eyes and charming smile affect you," Emilyn said to herself.

***

"Here are your pictures from the dog shelter." Emilyn sends the pictures to Christopher. Cleaning the photos from the camera and compile them into a folder. She starts by writing a paragraph on the first-weekend activity.

"Finally, I thought I might have to blackmail you." Christopher texts, Emilyn can't help but chuckle.

"What are you going to do with those pictures?" Emilyn asked out of curiosity.

"Aren't you being a bit nosy?" Christopher asked

"No, I'm just asking. Just in case you use that to blackmail me."

"I wouldn't dare."

"You better, I'm warning you." Emilyn text.

"Don't worry about it. Remember the wedding is this Saturday."

"I won't." Emilyn sends the last message.

Emilyn felt someone tapping her shoulder, "Taylor called for a meeting." Emilyn turns her head to find Savvanah behind her chair. She nods before picking up my laptop and tablet. Once everyone is in, Taylor begins. She asked each of them to update her on our projects. Soon is Emilyn's turn.

"So, I finally did my first interview with Mr. Evans at the dog shelter," Emilyn explain.

"Do you have any photos to show?" Taylor ask. Emilyn nod and plug the wire to connect her laptop to the screen in front.

"Damn," Andrew shout. Everyone turns to look at him. "Andrew, zip it." Taylor scolds him.

"I might say these pictures are good and Andrew, I got to agree. Christopher Evans is so hot." Taylor fan herself. "Look at that picture with him and the dog." Emilyn chuckled.

"I told you, Taylor. Christopher Evans is one piece of beautiful meat."

"That's enough, Andrew." Taylor stops him. "No one wants to hear you devoured a man." Everyone chuckles, "Good work, Emilyn. Make sure to write a good story with these pictures. We need this magazine to be one of the bestsellers." Emilyn nod. "Okay, if there's nothing else, the meeting is adjourned.

Everyone got up from their seats, "Emilyn wait up." She turns around. "Yes, Andrew. Do you need anything?"

"Tell me all about your day with Christopher Evans." He wiggles his eyebrow.

"There's nothing much to say about it. Is just visiting the dog shelter, having the interview that's all." Emilyn told him.

"Come on, there should be something." Andrew nudged her.

"Well, we went to wash the dogs first and is so much fun. My dog ran away and Christopher went to catch the dog for me." A smile grew on Emilyn's face as she remembers that day.

"I see you have so much fun with him." Andrew raised his eyebrow.

"Seriously, not you too." Emilyn rolled her eyes and walked back to her desk.

"Come on, you spend the weekend with the hottest bachelor, how are you not having butterflies." Andrew follows after Emilyn.

"Because I keep it professional. You don't go flirting with someone on the job." Emilyn places her laptop and tablet on my desk.

"Wow, I'm amazed." Andrew stood next to Emilyn's desk. "A girl would go crazy over him unless you are not straight."

"Oh my god, I am straight. It is just that my job is to interview that guy and write an article on him. After that, we will never see each other anymore."

"Whatever you say," Andrew smirks.

"Go back to your desk, before Taylor catch you talking to me." Emilyn shooed him away.
