Chapter 24
Mr.Billionaire Meets Ms.Clumsy
"Let's sit," Grandma Lou said. "There's nothing to cry about, crying doesn't solve the problem." Emilyn sniff. "Come tell me what's bothering you." Grandma Lou said in a soothing voice.
"I'm worried about you, what if there's no donor for you. And then you have to leave me, you can't leave me. You the only one that I got." Emilyn cried.
"Hey, hey," Grandma Lou takes a tissue to wipe her tears. "I'm not going to leave you ever. We can go through this together."
"You really think so?" Emilyn lookup with red swollen eyes.
"Yes." Grandma Lou nods. "If you are worried about the money. I have savings that you can use to pay for it."
"Grandma is okay. I got it covered." Emilyn told her. "I've gotten a job at one of the cafes near my office, I'm going to start this weekend."
"Emilyn, you don't have to do this. You are going to wear yourself out."
"No is fine, it is for you. I'll do anything to make you better again."
"Aww, my sweet granddaughter." Grandma Lou squeezes Emilyn. "Okay, I'll allow you to work an extra job. But if you wear yourself out, I'm going to ask you to stop immediately. I don't care how much in debt we are." Grandma Lou lectures. "You got that?"
"Yes, grandma." Emilyn nod and hug her tight.
"So, what's going on with you and Christopher?" Grandma Lou asks all of the sudden.
"What do you mean?" Emilyn lifts her head.
"Is there something going on between both of you that I should know of?" She asked.
"Nothing, nothing is going on between us." Emilyn wipes her nose. "Why would you think there's anything between us?"
"Because when you came in, you guys are holding hands."
Emilyn groaned, "grandma that's nothing, he just tried to stop my hands from shaking." She told her. "That's all nothing to it, we are just friends," Emilyn stated.
"Friends?" Grandma Lou raises her eyebrows in disbelief, "I beg to differ."
"Is true," Emilyn stated. "We are just friends, anyways he likes someone else."
"How do you know that he likes some else?"
"Because he told me," I told her. "And I'm also helping him to get the girl."
"Oh." Grandma Lou said with a frown. "Let me ask one question, do you like him?"
Emilyn thought for a while, "I think I do?" She shrug. "I'm not sure."
"I see." Grandma Lou scratches her chin and bones her head slowly. "Just figure out if you like him or not, but don't take too long to figure it out." She warned. Emilyn"If you take too long, he might go with someone else and you will regret it."
Emilyn sigh, "I will."
"Good, now go get him. I want to talk to him." Emilyn nods and left to find Christopher in the kitchen.
"My grandma wants to talk to you," She said glancing at Christopher for a while before putting her head down.
"Did you solve the problem?" Christopher asked
"Uhm...yeah." Emilyn looks back up and tugs her hair behind her ears.
"That's good," Christopher said and they stood there staring at each other.
"Emilyn, what's taking so long? Did he run away?" Grandma Lou shouted from the living room.
"I-I should go now." He said with a smile. Emilyn nods and moves to the side for him. She slaps her forehead, "What were you doing?" She asked herself softly and follow him out.
Grandma Lou saw Emilyn and said, "Emilyn, can you stay in the kitchen. I want to talk to Christopher privately."
"Sure." She scrunches her eyebrow and heads back into the kitchen. "Wonder what is Grandma Lou want to say that I can't hear?" She thought. After waiting in the kitchen bored out of her mind, "Emilyn" Grandma Lou shout.
"Yes?" Emilyn asked walking into the living room.
"We are done talking," She said.
"Okay? So why you call me in here for?" Emilyn asked her. Grandma Lou is acting so weird.
"Christopher wants to talk to you." She said.
"Huh?" Emilyn frown. "Why?" She looks at him, but Christopher looks confused as well.
"Anyways, I'm leaving. You guys talk, don't mind me. I'm going to my room." Grandma Lou said weirdly. She pointed at the two of them and left.
Christopher let out a small laugh, "What?" Emilyn asked him.
"Nothing." He answered. "Is getting late, I should go now." He checks his watch on his wrist.
"Yeah." Emilyn walks him towards the door. "Christopher," She calls his name and he turns to face her. "I want to say, thank you. Thanks for being here with me." She told him.
"No problem, that's what friends are for." Christopher gave a smile.
"I'm sorry, I cause so much trouble for you and you have to see my ugly crying face." Emilyn gave a short laugh.
"No worries, and is not ugly." Emilyn blushes and bites her lip. After that, Emilyn did something, that She would never imagine that she would do.
"Thank you, thank you." Emilyn hugs him. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't do this." Emilyn felt Christopher's body stiffened. Emilyn starts to pull back but Christopher pulls her back into a hug.
"Don't worry about it, I told you that I will be there for you. You can always count on me." He said. Emilyn snuggles close into his chest. He feels warm and comfy.
"I don't normally do this," Emilyn said in his chest. "I don't open up to others easily, it took me half of the year to open up to Ana. But with you, I don't know why. We've only met for 2 months and I've been telling you all this stuff." She told him, rambling off which she does every single time she gets nervous. "I'm sorry if I'm rambling."
"No, is fine. I like it when you ramble." Christopher pulls away from the hug and wipes the tears that fell on Emilyn's cheek. "And thank you for trusting me and telling me all these things." He smiles.
Emilyn steps back to keep some distance between Christopher and herself, "Uhmm..." Emilyn tugs the hair behind her ear. "I'm sorry if I'm stopping you from heading home." She gave him an awkward smile. "You should head home, is getting late."
Christopher nods. Emilyn opens the door for him and steps out of the way.
"Goodnight." He said.
"Night." Emilyn smile. Watching as he walks out to the hallway, but turns back twice and waves bye to her. Emilyn closes the door and a smile grew on her face. Feeling her heart, she can hear it beating really fast. "Oh no, am I falling for Christopher Evans?"
***
"This is so good." Emilyn moans stuffing the juicy piece of steak in her mouth. "Your cooking is the best, Fin."
"Hey, how could you assume that this is cook by Fin?" Ana grumbles and crossed her arms.
"Like you can cook this delicious, juiciest piece of steak." Emilyn put the piece of steak into her mouth. "If you can cook this, my dream of pigs sprouting out wings will come true." She snickers.
"Oh yeah," Ana said. "Challenge accepted."
"Challenge accepted? Are you sure?" Emilyn asked her. "Ana, not everything is a bet."
"I know, but I like being challenged."
"Fine." Emilyn shrugs her shoulders. "So, if you win, then you have to show me a pig that will sprout wings."
Finley laugh, Ana narrowed her eyes at him. "That's not possible." She shakes her head. "How about free ice cream for a month?"
"Yes." Emilyn immediately agrees.
"Ahem, Em do you know what you are getting yourself in?" Finley asked.
"Of course, if Ana can cook a piece of juicy steak then she'll give me free ice cream for a month," Emilyn explains to him.
"Yeah, and who's going to make sure she can do it?"
Emilyn thought for a while, then a sudden realization pop into her head. She gasps. "Please tell me what did I do?" Emilyn eyes widened.
"I don't know what do you think?" Finley smirks.
"Oh no," Emilyn scrunch her eyebrows and her mouth turns into a frown. "I just agree to help her." She slaps herself on the forehead.
"Yeah, you did." Finley burst out laughing. "Congratulations, you figure it out."
"How dare you, Finley Roberts!" Emilyn shouted and hit him across the table. "Why didn't you warn me?" She glares at him. He shrugs and Emilyn hit him some more.
"Enough, break out!" Ana broke them apart. "Stop fighting you two." She shakes her head. She pointed to Emilyn to her seat and Emilyn quietly obey and sat down.
"Where are your table manners?" Ana crosses her arms, looking at both of us. "Starting a fight on the dinner table, what are you guys a child?" Ana scolds them. Both of their heads are bowed low.
"Sorry, Ana." Emilyn apologize. "I wouldn't do it again."
"What about you?" She looks at Fin.
"I'm sorry, I've shouldn't start the fight."
"Good, now can we just finish dinner," Ana said and they continue eating.
***
"Yes!" Finley shouted from the kitchen. "You guys, guess what." He came out rushing towards Ana and Emilyn holding his phone up.
"What is it?" Ana asked.
"I just got us tickets to one of Christopher Evans races." He waves his phone in front of them.
"Stop moving, I can't see." Ana grabs his hand to look at the phone.
"That got you excited, is just one of his race that's all," Emilyn said unbothered.
"One of his race? One of his race." Finley shouted and put his hands up into the air. "This is his annual national competition, racers from around the world will attend." He explains. "And is one of the biggest events ever."
"Okay."
"Okay? Just okay?" He scoffs. "What's the use of telling you this, you won't understand." He took the phone back from Ana and sat next to her.
"I think you hurt his feelings," Ana said.
Emilyn looks over at Fin and sees him pouting, she sighs. "Hey, Fin." Emilyn walks over to him. He huffs and looks in the other direction. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that." She apologizes. "Please don't be mad," She begs and pouts and showed him her puppy dog eyes.
He turns back around and sighs, "I forgive you, you know I can't stay mad at you long, especially with that puppy dog eyes." Emilyn hugs him.
"So when is it?" Emilyn asked. He tilts his head not understanding what she had said. "The competition I mean."
"Next next week on Friday."
"That's good. Hope you enjoy it."
"You are coming too." He replies.
"What?" Emilyn asked. "What do you mean?"
"It means that I got tickets for me, you and Ana."
"What? Why? I didn't say I want to go." Emilyn whined.
"Why not? Aren't you and Christopher Evans together or something like that?" Finley asked
"What?" Emilyn laugh. "You are crazy. You think Christopher Evans and I are together." She laughs even harder until tears start falling out. Emilyn wipes it away, "you are one funny guy." She lightly pushes Finley's shoulder.
"Is she okay?" Finley asks Ana. Ana just shrug.
"Sorry," Emilyn coughs. "Where were we? What are we talking about?"
"Christopher Evans and you are not together?" He asked. "What are you guys?"
"We are just friends."
"Really, I thought you guys were together or something. Considering what Ana told me and how he helps you and stuff." Finely asked.
"No, he just helps me as a friend. Besides, he likes some else." Emilyn took a seat next to Finley.
"What?!" This time is Ana's turn to shout. "How do you know? He told you?" Emilyn nod. "Woah." Ana blinks her eyes multiple times. "When did he tell you?"
"When he brought me to his brother's wedding," Emilyn said. "He told me how he supposes to bring this girl, but the girl doesn't like him. So, I told him that I would help him to get that girl." She explains and looks at both of them, but they sit there with eyes wide open and mouths agape. "Hello? Guys?" Emilyn waved her hand in front of their faces.
"What were you thinking!" That's the first thing that came out of Ana's mouth. "Have you gone insane?"
"What? What did I do wrong?" Emilyn asked cluelessly.
"Oh my god." Ana laugh. "She doesn't know, she actually done know." Her laugh builds up and she shakes her head.
"Ana, what should I know?" Emilyn asked again. But she continues to laugh. "Ana, you are freaking me out. Finley, help me. Your fiancé is going bonkers."
Finley said something to her and finally, she stopped, "Are you going to tell me?"
Ana sighs and shakes her head, "my poor naive baby, how could you be so oblivious?" Emilyn scrunches her eyebrows. "You just told the guy, you are going to help him get the girl he likes. Who does that?"
"A friend?" Emilyn shrug.
"Oh my goodness." She slaps her forehead. "Fin, explain to her."
"Is something like this, I'm not sure I'm right but, Christopher likes you." He said.
"What? Didn't I just told you that he like some else?"
"I know, but that some else is you."
"Pfft, yeah right." Emilyn shakes her head, not believing a single word he said. "Are you trying to play with my head? There's no way Christopher Evans will be interested in me. Yes, if it is a friend but as something more, you got to be kidding."
"Em, what Fin say is true. He likes you." Ana said. "There's no way, he will treat you lunch twice, take you to watch a sunset and also comfort you when you are sad. Why would he do all that for?" Ana asked.
"He's being a good friend?" Emilyn answer.
"Oh my god." Ana groaned. "Do you like him?"
The question that Ana asked made her stop and think for a while. "Do I like him? I'm not sure what am I feeling?" Emilyn thought. "I don't know." She answers. "I have no idea."
"Do you feel butterflies when you are with him when he is so close to you?" Ana asked and Emilyn nod. "Do you feel comfortable talking to him?" She nods again.
All of a sudden, Emilyn's phone ring. She looks down at the caller ID. Is Christopher, "Hello."
"Hey, I just want to ask if you are free the following Friday."
"Yeah, I think so. Why?"
"I have this huge competition and just want to know if you want to come to watch me and the guys race?"
"Uhm...I think that would be great."
"I've got you a ticket and also your friends. If they want to come as well or maybe your grandma wants to come as well."
"I think you can leave my grandma out of this, she doesn't like loud noises." Emilyn snicker. Ana look at her with one eyebrow raised and Emilyn mouthed the words 'what.'
"Okay, then I'll get you and your friends' tickets. It will be the best seat, front row."
"Wow, but my friend just got his tickets," Emilyn told him.
"Tell him to get a refund, I'm pretty sure he'll enjoy these seats better."
"Okay."
"Great, I'll pick you up?" He asked.
"No, no is fine. My friend can drive me there."
"Okay, I'll see you the following Friday. And also I'll send you the tickets. Bye." And they end the call.
"Is that Christoper?" Ana wiggles her eyebrows.
"Yes, and he invited 3 of us to his race."
"But I already got us tickets?" Finely said.
"He asked you to refund it because he got us front row seats."
"Front row seats!" Finley shouted and run around the house like a kid. "Oh my god, I can't believe we get to seat in the front row. I love you Em." He hugs Emilyn and kisses her on the cheek.
"Eww, get away from me." Emilyn pushes his face away.
"Ana, can you believe I'm going to seat in the front row." Finley still shouting.
"Oh my god, chill." Ana covers her ears.
"You better return those tickets, those people will be lucky if they can have our tickets." Emilyn snicker at him jumping around. "Because I got the tickets already." She waves her phone in the air.
"Give me, give me." Finley pulls her hand down to look at the tickets. "Oh wow." He looks at it amazed.
"Enough, go and refund those tickets." Emilyn takes her phone away from him.
"Yes, sir." Finley put his hand up into a salute.
"I told you he likes you." Ana nudge.
"Stop saying that, you don't know if it is the truth."
"Oh come on, he invited you to his race. Isn't it a clue already?"
"Don't jump to assumption, what if it's not?"
"Then we shall see," Ana smirks.
