"I'm heading out now!" Emilyn shouted, putting her jacket on.
"Alright, be careful." Grandma Lou came out of the kitchen.
"Are you sure you don't want to come with?" Emilyn asked. "Ana said is going to be entertaining."
"No thanks, I have invited Mary over," Grandma Lou said. "And how am I suppose to keep up with you youngster." She laughs. "You guys have fun."
"Will do." Emilyn opens the door and heads to Ana's.
FLASHBACK
"Ana, I told you I can't go to your party. I have work that day." Emilyn told her for the fifth time.
"Come on, you can take a break," Ana told her. "Just one day." She begged. And is your best friend engagement party, you have to come to my engagement party."
Emilyn huff, "Fine. I'll come."
"Yes, thank you thank you." Ana cheered
"What else do you need?" Emilyn asked, knowing An; she probably wants something from her.
"Just an itsy bitsy help."
"Just spit it out," Emilyn said
"Can you come over to help decorate?" she asked.
"I knew it." Emilyn shakes her head. "Okay, I will."
"Thank you."
END OF FLASHBACK
Emilyn chuckle, she would want to see the look on Christopher when he finds out that she's not working tonight. Christopher has been coming over none stop on the weekend at the store. No matter how hard Emilyn ignores him, he still doesn't care and follow after Emilyn until she reaches home.
Emilyn finally arrived at Ana's house and rang the doorbell, "Finally, I thought you are not coming." Ana opens the door with one hand on her hips.
"I wouldn't dare to disappoint her highness." Emilyn laughs and steps into her apartment.
"Ahh, the decorator is here," Finley said. Emilyn rolled her eyes and step into a hug.
"Okay, enough of this." Emilyn got out of the hug. "Where are the decorations?" Finley pointed to the bags at the corner of the room. "Let's get started." She clapped her hands together and they start getting to work. After an hour, they got the decoration done.
Emilyn steps back and looks at the room, "Looks good." She praises herself.
"Is time guys, the guest will be here soon." Ana came out to the living room in her sparkly dress.
"Wow, you look amazing," Emilyn said.
"Thanks," She smiles.
"You are gorgeous, I can't wait to get married to you." Finley pulls Ana close to him by the waist. He leans down to kiss her.
"ahem," Emilyn coughs. "You know I'm still here right?" Pointing out the obvious.
Ana giggle, "Sorry, didn't see you." Finley said and shrugs, he slammed his lips on Ana's once again. Emilyn groans and looks away.
The doorbell rang and the couple pulls apart, "It is time." Emilyn said and open the door. Everyone that Finley and Ana know is here. Emilyn walk around the house helping to bring some drinks for the guests.
"Want some?" Emilyn asked the group of guys with their backs facing her. The one closes to her turns around, "Christopher?" She gasps, moving back until she hit someone which makes the tray wobble.
"I got you." He took the tray from Emilyn's hands before all the content topples to the ground. Emilyn starts taking a small step back and runs into the kitchen. She sat down at the corner of the kitchen with her legs tug into her chest. "Why is he here?" Emilyn kept questioning.
"Emilyn? Em?" Emilyn heard and lift up her head to see Ana frantically looking for her until her eyes fall on Emilyn at the corner of her kitchen. "Oh, what happened?" She asked crouching down.
"Christopher, Christopher Evans is here," Emilyn said softly. "Why is he here?"
"I invited him," Ana told her.
"Why?" Emilyn frown.
"Because we were having such a great time that day, and I want to invite him and his friends. And I know you and Christopher are close, so you can have someone to talk to instead of serving drinks at my party." Ana grimaces.
"But, I like helping you serve the guests. I don't really know many people at this party." Emilyn told her. "So what better way to fill your boredom?"
"That's why I invited Christopher."
"But I don't want to talk to him or see him ever again," Emilyn told her.
"Why?" Ana gives a confused look.
"Because I like him, I like him okay." Emilyn spits the truth out. "And I know he won't like me back."
"Em." Ana sigh. "You don't know if he won't like you, did you talk to him."
"There's no need to talk to him. I saw him and some girl with my own eyes."
"Are you serious? You just saw him and some girl doesn't mean he has someone else." Emilyn shakes her head.
"I saw him putting his hand over her shoulder and coincidentally, we went to the same restaurant and she place her hands on his. But, he didn't move his hand from her." Emilyn told her.
"Oh, Em." She hugs her.
"Now, I've fallen in too deep. I have to stay away from him." Emilyn broke the hug.
"I'm sorry I invited him, I thought that you will like it. But you didn't tell me about this."
"Is fine. I don't want to worry you about my feelings that will never happen."
"Hey, Emilyn. You listen to me and listen well." Ana said in a serious voice. "You are beautiful, any guy would be lucky to care for you and love you as who you are." She lectures, "don't look down on yourself. You are pretty, smart and the best friend I could ever have."
"Thanks," Emilyn brush her hair away from her face. "I needed that."
"Now, come on." Ana put her hand out, "you can't sit here looking sad at a party and with this killer dress." Emilyn smiles and grabs on to Ana's hands. Ana pulls her up, "Now go and have fun, don't care about that Christopher whatever his name, and please stop serving drinks to my guests, you are my guests too." Ana pulls her outside of the kitchen.
"Ana, there you are." Finley came over to us. "My friends want to talk to us."
"Are you going to be okay by yourself?" Ana turns to face Emilyn.
"I'll be fine, go," Emilyn said and let her hand go. Before Ana left, she turns and gave Emilyn a small hug. Emilyn looking around the party, seeing everyone having fun.
She sigh
Emilyn can never get used to this huge crowd. She then decided to walk around the living room, trying to see if she know anyone. There should be someone she knows, Ana invited some of their college classmates. "Hey." Emilyn bump into someone. "I'm sorry." She looks up to see who she had bumped into. "Pierce."
"Hi, Emilyn." He said. "I'm sorry that I told him about your work."
"Why did you tell him?" Emilyn asked, crossing her arms in front of her. "I thought you promise me?"
"I did, I know I shouldn't do it. But, he threatens me to say it."Pierce's face shown a sign of guiltiness
"I don't understand why would you say it in the first place, is it so important to tell him?" Emilyn raises one brow.
"Because he cares about you, okay. Christopher cares a lot about you." He started. "When he found out that you work at the cafe that late, he immediately rushes out of the office."
"I don't get it." Emilyn shakes her head.
"Listen to me," Pierce said. "On that day, he rushes out of the office and waited for you to finish your shift and follow you back."
"Then why didn't he approach me that day, why the next day?"
"Because I was with him and I stop him if he's going to act rationally then you will be mad at him." He explains. "And definitely be mad at me."
"That's true." Emilyn nods.
"I'm sorry that I told him, please don't ignore Christopher anymore. It wasn't his fault."
"Pierce" Emilyn sigh. "I'm not mad at him because he came to my workplace. Is something else."
"What is it?" He asked.
"I can't tell you." Emilyn shakes her head. "The person that is at fault is me, not him."
"Would you like to tell me what is it?"
"No. I can't." Emilyn said. "Is my personal business."
"Okay."
"Can you please tell Christopher not to talk to me or wait for me at my workplace anymore?"
"I'll try my best, but he is a stubborn mule."
"thank you." Emilyn gave him a smile, "What are you standing here for? Go have fun, there's a lot of girls here."
Pierce smiles, "you are right." He winks and left. Emilyn left the noisy crowd and try to find a quiet place to stand for a while. She turns to a corner and was face to face with Christopher. She steps aside, but Christopher's hands grab onto her wrist and turn her around to face him.
"Let go of me." Emilyn trash in his hold.
"Emilyn, tell me what's wrong?" He asked
"I told you to stay away from me, why can't you just do that." Emilyn frown.
"Because I don't know the reason why? I don't know the reason to stay away from you." Christopher's voice raises his voice a little.
"Christopher let go," Emilyn said in a stern voice, trying to free herself from his hold.
"If I let go, you are going to tell me?"
Emilyn nod.
Christopher slowly let go of her arm. As soon as Emilyn felt his hands letting go of her wrist. she ran as fast as she could.
Christopher stood there flabbergasted as he watches Emilyn ran away from him. "Hey, Chris." Jax came over to him. "I'm heading home now."
"Okay." Christopher nods, not really paying attention to what he said.
"Are you okay? What are you staring at?" Jax asked as he looks in the same direction.
"I got something to handle, talk to you later." Christopher pats on his shoulder and went to find Emilyn. He walks in the same direction where she had ran, but he still can't find her. Finally, he spotted her with Ana.
Walking closer Christopher saw Ana looking at him over Emilyn shoulder. Emilyn turns around and found Christopher staring at her. She quickly hangs her head low and tries to move around Christopher, but he blocks her way
"We need to talk," Christopher said.
"I told you to stay away from me." Emilyn looks up and glares. "Don't come any closer!" She stops him. Before he can predict her next move, Emilyn ran again.
Christopher wants to chase after her but a hand stops him. Christopher looks back to see Ana holding him back, "please let go, I need to talk to her." Christopher begged.
"Christopher, let her go. Give her some space." Ana said.
Christopher sigh and nod. Once Ana left, he quickly heads out the door to chase after Emilyn.
Christopher ran out to find Emilyn getting into the elevator. Quickly, he sprints over to the elevator just in time for the door to start closing. Christopher presses the button for the door to open but it shut, seeing her face as the door closes.
"Damn it," Christopher yelled. He presses the buttons rapidly for the next one to arrive. When he got down, he rushes out of the entrance to find Emilyn walking down the streets far away from him. Hurriedly, he got into his car and kept up with her
He finally caught up to her but she's heading down the subway. "F***." Christopher hit the side of the steering wheel. Then it hit him, he drove to Emilyn's house and wait for her till she showed up.
Christopher waited impatiently for Emilyn to showed up at the building. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel while one leg shakes up and down. His eyes never leaving the window. Finally, after the long wait. She finally appears.
Quickly, Christopher got out of his car and ran after her. He grabs her wrists and turns her around to face him in the lobby.
"Christopher?" Emilyn frown. "What are you doing here? I told you not to bother me anymore." She grimaces.
"I want to know why, why all of the sudden you decide to shut me out. What did I do." Christopher asked her again.
"I don't want to talk about it." Emilyn looks away.
"Please I need to know, just tell me then I'll leave," Christopher begs.
Emilyn closes her eyes for a second and sighed, "Christopher." She said his name seriously. "Let me go!"
"No, not until you tell me," Christopher said firmly.
"No!" Emilyn tries to pry her hands out of Christopher's grip.
"Stop doing that, I'm not letting you go until you tell me."
"Christopher please let go," Emilyn said softly this time. "Someone is looking at us." Christopher turns around to see an old woman staring at them. Quickly, he pulls her towards the fire escape.
"Why did you bring me here?" Emilyn glare.
"I want you to tell me."
"No, I'm not going to tell you." She huff.
"Fine." Christopher places both of his arms at the side of Emilyn and her back fully presses on the wall. "If you are not going to tell, no one is leaving here."
"You wouldn't dare." Emilyn narrowed her eyes at Christopher.
"Try me." Christopher smirk. "Are you going to say anything?" Emilyn didn't answer and look away. "You know running away from your problem isn't very mature."
"Is not a problem," Emilyn answered, but not looking at him.
"Then what is it, what makes you command me to stay away from you?" Christopher question. "I've tried so hard to become your friend, from enemies to friends," he added. "I finally got you as a friend and now you are pushing me away. For what reason? I don't know." Christopher shakes his head. "What did I do to deserve this?"
Emilyn remains silent, "answer me this? Did I make it so hard for you to be friends with me and now you want to stay away from me?" Emily still didn't say anything or look at him. This time Christopher got so frustrated, he grips onto her chin lightly and making her face him. "Just answer this question please?"
"No." She said firmly.
"Then why do I have to stay away from you?" Christopher asked.
"Because...because." Emilyn closes her eyes for a second, "Because I like you okay." Christopher's eyes grew wide and mouth agape, he couldn't believe it. Christopher's hands slowly loosen the grip on her chin. "There I said it, I like you and that can't be happening."
Christopher doesn't care what Emilyn said next, he slammed his lips onto hers. Pulling her waist close to his body, feeling her soft lips on his. Christopher knows that he's taking her first kiss, but he doesn't care. "Her first kiss will and always be mine." Christopher thought.
"What do you think you are doing!" Emilyn pushes him away and touches her lips, "you kiss me." Her breath became uneven. "You can't kiss me."
"Why not?" Christopher let out a small laugh.
"Because you like someone else, you told me that and I saw you with the girl."
"What girl?" Christopher asked, stepping a little closer to her as she moves back.
"That girl, you when to the restaurant with."
Christopher raises an eyebrow amuse, "Are you stalking me?" He took a step forward.
"No." Emilyn shakes her head. "I was at that restaurant coincidentally."
"And what restaurant is that?" Christopher steps closer to Emilyn as her back hits the wall.
"The Japanese fusion restaurant near my company." Emilyn stutters and her eyes move everywhere watching Christopher as he takes his final step towards her.
"she's just a friend, a very good friend." Christopher tugs her hair that fell on her face behind her ear.
"Then who is the girl?" Emilyn asked.
Christopher stifles a laugh, "It is you."
"What?" Emilyn let out an incredulous laugh. "You got to be kidding me."
"I'm not joking, it has always been you," Christopher told her. "The girl that I want to bring to the wedding is you, the girl I want to impress is you. It always has been you."
"Christopher, time to stop playing games." Emilyn clearly looks unamused.
"I'm not." Christopher chuckle. "I want you to be mine, I want you to be my girlfriend."
"Christopher, we are not playing our game anymore." Emilyn shakes her head.
"And I'm not playing the game, this is true. I want you to be my girlfriend for reals." Christopher took both of her hands in his.
"I-I don't know. This is all too much for me." She shakes her head. "I need time to think."
"Take all the time you want," Christopher said. "But, so you know that I'm not a very patient guy." He leans down and whispers into her ears
"You are serious about this right? You are not playing with me?"
"Yes, I am very serious." Christopher looks at her intensely.
