Chapter 30
Mr.Billionaire Meets Ms.Clumsy
"I'm sorry I'm late." Emilyn pants, bending down to catch her breath as she enters the bridal store. Everyone who works there weirdly looks at Emilyn. She looks up and spots Ana sipping on champagne on a couch. Emilyn rush over to her and said, "Sorry, Ana."
"Why are you late?" Ana crosses her arms.
"I've overslept." Emilyn pout. "I'm sorry, work has been crazy."
"Fine, I forgive you." She said. "Knowing that you work 7 days a week."
"Thank you." Emilyn hugs her.
"Okay, enough of this hugging." Ana pulls away from the hug. "Is time for dress shopping!" She cheered
"Have you choose something to try on?" Emilyn asked, sitting down on the couch.
"Yeah, and I've been waiting for you so that I can try it on." She cheered.
"Then hurry up, I want to see it." Emilyn pushes her towards the dressing room. The heavy curtain pulls open slowly and Ana stood on the small platform with a beautiful white ballgown. She turns around with a bright smile on her face.
"Ooh!" Emilyn said. "You look so beautiful." Ana is wearing a poofy ballgown, sleeveless, and a deep V neck. The top bodice is covered with lace and some jewels.
Ana sighs, "I can't believe I'm standing here with a wedding dress on." She wipes away the tear that slips from her eye.
"Don't cry, you will ruin your makeup," Emilyn told her. "You should be a happy bride."
"I know that, but I just can't believe this is happening." Ana fans her eyes and tilts her head to the back, stopping the tears to fall out.
"What do you think about the dress?" Emilyn asked.
"I like it." Ana turns and looks into the mirror. "Is poofy, very poofy." She lifts the skirt of the dress. "But I like the top, I love how it is like a V neck." She stares at her dress in the mirror, tilting her head. "But I don't think this is the one."
"Okay, go and try more," Emilyn suggested. The heavy curtains close once again.
"Hey, what happened to you and Christopher?" Ana asked behind the curtains.
"What do you mean?" Emilyn asked.
"The last time I saw both of you together was when Christopher chased after you even when I stop him at the party."
"You stop him?"
"Yeah, but when I turn around he's gone. So, he probably went after you." Ana said.
"So what are you trying to imply?" Emilyn question.
"What happened between you and Christopher? Did he catch up to you?" Ana asked and the curtains pulled open again. This time Ana is wearing a slightly less poofy dress. She turns around and shows Emilyn the whole look. This time she has a really deep slit at the breast area.
"Oh wow, you look gorgeous." Emilyn is amazed. "What do you think about this?"
"I love how the open area down the breast area. Makes it feel a lot sexier." Ana giggle.
"I bet Finley can't keep his hands off you with this dress." Emilyn chuckle.
"I really do like this one, but I still have some more to try on," Ana said.
"Sure, go try that one."
"Hey, you haven't answered me yet," Ana said before changing into another gown.
"Uhm...no he didn't." Emilyn lied.
"He didn't catch up to you?" Ana frowns. "So you guys haven't been talking from my party until now?" Emilyn shook her head. "How come?"
"Ana, I told you the reason why." Emilyn sigh. Emilyn really didn't want to lie to Ana, but she's just not ready to tell her.
"Just tell him that you like him, maybe he will like you back. You never know if you don't try."
"Just go change into your dress." Emilyn shooed her away. She can't tell her the truth, not now.
"Okay, What do you think?" Ana came out with the final dress.
"Oh, I love it." Emilyn clapped. This time the dress is also less poofy and but is off-shoulder and the sleeves at the bottom are poofy covered with lace.
"I think I like this a lot," Ana said, looking into the mirror.
"Which one do you like better?" Emilyn asked.
"I don't know is so hard to choose." Ana frowns, turning around to face Emilyn.
"What about the price, which is cheaper?" Emilyn asked.
"Emilyn is not about the price." Ana turns back around to face the mirror and place her hands on her hips. "Is about the design, the style, if it fits me or not."
"Yeah, but the price is also part of it," Emilyn told her. "How much is this one?"
Ana asks the saleswoman about the price, "this is 20,000." The woman said. Emilyn mouth opens agape and blinks her eyes rapidly.
"20,000 dollars?" Emilyn repeated.
"Chill, Emilyn is considered cheap," Ana said.
"Are you insane? Is a huge amount. How is it cheap?" Emilyn said.
"My dear Emilyn, have you forgotten who I am?"
"Anastasia Conner the heiress, daughter of Cameron and Allegra Conner," Emilyn said.
"I can afford it," Ana told her
"What about Finley? Have you asked him?" Emilyn question.
"He doesn't mind, he just says get the dress I wanted. Plus, I'm going to pay for it." She shrugs.
"Wow," Emilyn said. "So have you decide which are you going to buy?"
"Not yet. I think I'll have them hold the two dresses for me so that I can make a decision." The curtain closes again.
"I'm done, let's go," Ana said finally dress in her normal outfit. "Want to go for lunch?"
"Of course, I'm starving. Wedding gown shopping is so tiring." Emilyn groan.
"But I'm the one who is trying on dresses, I should feel tired," Ana said as they walk out of the store.
"But you love shopping, it never wears you out."
"I know." She giggles and they got into Ana's car and head to lunch.
***
"I'm here, I'm here." Emilyn rushes out of the locker room. "Sorry, I was late." She apologizes to her co-worker. Her co-worker gave Emilyn an eye roll and continue doing what she was doing.
"Rude much," Emilyn mutter under her breath. This is the third time Emilyn had overslept. The wedding dress shopping really tired her out. After lunch with Ana, Emilyn went back home and took a nap before her shift starts.
But she overslept and got woken up by Christopher's phone call. "Hello?" Emilyn answered sleepily, with her phone place on top of her ear.
"Aren't you suppose to be at work right now?" He said.
"What?!" Emilyn grab her phone and sat up straight in her bed, checking the time on her phone. "Shoot." She rushes out the door with one shoe on. When she got into the elevator, she realizes that Christopher is still on the phone.
"Thank goodness you call or I won't wake up," Emilyn told him. When the elevator reaches the lobby and she hurried out.
"Do you need a ride?" Christopher asked. When Emilyn got outside, she saw his car right in front of the apartment. Emilyn got into the car without hesitation.
"Thank god you are here." She brushes down her crazy bed head. "Hold up, why are you here?" Emilyn turns her body to face him.
"I miss you." Christopher glances at her before turning back to the road
Emilyn narrowed her eyes at him, "yeah, right. Are you stalking me?"
"Why would I be stalking you?" Christopher asked.
"I don't know." Emilyn shrug. "Tell me what were you doing in front of the apartment?" She points a finger at him. Christopher grabs it with one hand and the other on the steering wheel, placing her hand on his lap.
"I'm not stalking, I just miss you and want to drive you to work." He explains. "I want to wait for you to give you a surprise, but you weren't coming down."
"Oh." Emilyn nod. "Thanks again for calling me and also driving me to work. I won't make it on time if it weren't for you." She said with a smile.
Soon, they have arrived at the cafe. "Okay thanks, see you later." Emilyn got out of the car and ran towards the cafe which leads to now. Her annoying co-worker is not a talker and is definitely ignoring her. This is going to be a quiet night.
After a long night, is finally time to close the cafe. They put up the chairs, turn off the light and lock up the cafe. As usual, Christopher's car is right there.
"Hi," Emilyn said as she enters the car. "Did you wait long?"
"No," Christopher shook his head. "Got here 5 minutes before closing time." He drove off. "Check the backseat." Emilyn scrunches her eyebrow and tilts her head to the side.
"Why?"
"Just do as I say," Christopher said.
Emilyn shrugs and turns her head 180 to find a bag of McDonald's behind the seat. "What is this?" she asked, holding the bag up.
"I was worried you might be hungry, consider you overslept and have to rush to the cafe."
"Aww, thanks." Emilyn smile, looking into the bag taking out some fries, and popping them into her mouth. "I am really hungry." She then took out a box of nuggets, inside is not 10 nuggets is 20 pcs. While Christopher drove, she fed him fries and one or two nuggets.
"We need to talk." Christopher parks his car 2 spaces away from the apartment, turning his body to face Emilyn.
"Uhmm...okay. Doesn't this conversation happens later on?" Emilyn said with a frown.
"Is not those types of conversation, I want to talk about your job at the cafe." Christopher starts.
Emilyn groans, "if this is about quitting my job, then I'm not going to."
"You look so tired and you are never late to your work ever. Don't you see that this extra job is wearing you out?" Christopher pointed out.
Emilyn scoff, "that's because I went out with Ana for wedding dress shopping. I spent a half-day with her." She told him. "The job is fine and I am not quitting," She states firmly.
"How about I make a deal with you?" Christopher said.
"I'm listening."
"You come to work for me on Saturday and you can have Sunday off," Christopher suggested.
"Why would I work for you? What can I do? I don't understand your field of job."
"You can work as a part-timer. You can help me file documents and organize the files." He explains further. "And you just have to work on Saturday and I'll pay the exact amount you earn in the cafe, double if I have to."
"I'm just working for a day and you want to pay me to double?" Emilyn chuckle. "Do you know how much I earn?"
"No, but I'll want you to quit your job and come work with me." Christopher insisted.
"You're funny." Emilyn laugh. "Why do you think I'll work for you?"
"Because it has fewer hours and you only have to work one day. How long have you spend your time with your grandma or have a free day for yourself." Emilyn frowns and looks down on her lap. "So, just come and work for me, I hate seeing you working so hard and also very late."
"I'll think about it," Emilyn told him.
"There's one more thing."
"What is it?" Emilyn raises her eyebrow.
"Have you told your grandma or Ana about us?" Christopher asked.
"No, not yet." Emilyn looks away.
"Is this why you didn't want me to pick you up from your house?" Emilyn nod subtly. "So when are you going to tell?"
"I don't know, I just don't know how to open my mouth to tell, the words don't come out easily."
"So, you are just going to keep it as a secret for how long. How long should I keep hiding?" Christopher asked with a hint of anger in his voice. "You guys live in the same house, how long are you going to keep lying to her?"
"Is not that I don't want to tell her, I just don't know how," Emilyn told him, not lifting her head.
"Do you want to me tell her for you?" He asked.
"You can?" Emilyn head lifted and look at him
"Yeah, of course."
"Okay, if you want to," Emilyn said.
"Let's go." Christopher unbuckles his seat belt.
"What?! Now?!" Emilyn jolted from her seat.
"Yeah, now."
"But is already, 2 in the morning. She's probably asleep now." Emilyn told him.
"Oh, you right." Christopher let out a small laugh. "I'll come at 8."
"Oh my god." Emilyn groan. "Are you serious?"
"Of course I am, don't you want to tell her the good news. She probably will be happy finding out that you are finally dating."
"Fine," Emilyn said. "I should head upstairs now, is getting late." She yawn, unbuckling her seatbelt.
"Let me walk you up," Christopher suggested.
"No is fine, is late and you still have to drive home." Emilyn stops him.
"But I'll be quick."
"Christopher is fine, I can walk up by myself," She told him. "You also said you going to come over at 8 in the morning. That's like 6 more hours."
"Are you sure?" Christopher asked worriedly.
"Yes, don't worry so much." Emilyn gave him an assuring smile. "I'll see you at 8," She gave him a peck on the cheek and open the door.
"When you finally got back home, text me," Christopher said before she closes the door.
"Okay, I will." Emilyn chuckle. Waving bye to him and close the door.
***
Waking up and got dressed, Emilyn walk out of her room like a zombie to the kitchen. Grabbing whatever she can see in front of her then proceed to sit down on the couch, She turns her head to see 2 pairs of eyes looking at her with a smile.
Emilyn rub her eyes and open, She saw her grandma and Christopher right on the couch beside her. "What are you doing here?"
"Christopher came in the morning to visit me." Grandma Lou said.
"Oh." Emilyn nod.
"Don't bother about her, she's always like a zombie when she wakes up." Emilyn heard Christopher lightly chuckle.
"Since she's awake now, should I get breakfast ready?" Grandma Lou said. "You haven't had breakfast yet right?" Christopher shook his head. "Alright, you stay here and I'll prepare the breakfast." Grandma Lou stood up and head into the kitchen.
Emilyn watches as Grandma Lou walks into the kitchen. Christopher then slides closer to Emilyn, wrapping his arm over her shoulder. "Morning." He gave a toothy smile.
"Hi, I didn't know you will come so early. I thought you might want to catch more sleep."
"I said 8, so I'll come at 8." Emilyn bobbed her head and take a bite of my apple.
"So how are you going to tell my grandma? Do you have a plan?" Emilyn asked.
"None, I'll just say it out."
"That's one way to spill it," Emilyn said. Christopher then pulls her hand that is holding the apple close to him and took a bite on the apple.
"Hey! That's my apple." Emilyn grimace.
"You want it back," Christopher smirks. "Okay, I'll give you back your apple." He took another bite of the apple and pull Emilyn close by the back of her neck. He leans down close to her mouth and places the apple in her mouth.
Emilyn stare at him with her mouth agape, "chew, baby" Christopher said in an authoritative tone, Emilyn can't help but listen to him and chew the piece of apple that he places in her mouth.
"What's wrong?" Christopher asked, "want another piece?" Emilyn shakes her head vigorously. He hooks his finger under her chin and pulls it to face him, "what's wrong?"
"Nothing is wrong." Emilyn shakes her head while his finger still hooks on her chin.
"Then, what's with the silence all of the sudden?"
"Nothing," Emilyn said once again, lowering her head down.
Christopher chuckled, "is my angel shy?" He tilts his head to the side and take look at Emilyn's red face. Emilyn didn't answer nor looking him in his eyes. "Look up," Christopher said. Emilyn slowly lifts her head to meet him. "Tell me."
"Tell you what?" Emilyn bit her lip nervously.
"Tell me what are you feeling right now. And don't try to avoid it." Christopher instructed.
Emilyn swallowed the nervous bile in her throat, "i-i felt really weird." She said nervously. "You suddenly place the apple into my mouth, I never did anything like that before." She bit the bottom of her lip.
"I'm sorry if I scare you, I just want to tease you." Christopher apologizes. "Did I make you uncomfortable?"
"No, just weird out," Emilyn told him. "I have no idea what I'm feeling at all." Emilyn shakes her head.
Christopher chuckles, "You will get used to it soon, and I promise I won't try to be too forward with you. I'll take it slow."
"Promise?" Emilyn asked.
"Yes, cross my heart." Christopher nods. "So are you still going to eat that apple." He looks down at her hand.
"No, do you want to eat it?" Emilyn asked putting it in front of him.
"Sure, better don't waste it." Christopher took a bite without taking the apple from Emilyn's hand.
"Take it," Emilyn push the apple towards him, but he shook his head and took another bite. "Take it, Christopher." Emilyn urged.
"I'll take it unless you give me something in return." He said cheekily.
"What is it?" Emilyn asked.
"A kiss," Christopher said. "Just one kiss then I'll take this apple from your hand, easy."
Emilyn looks at the apple and then back at him, "one kiss won't hurt. Is not like I've never kissed him before." She thought. Leaning in close to him and place a chaste kiss on his lips, before she can pull back Christopher deepened the kiss.
He places his warm, big, rough hands on her cheeks. Emilyn unconsciously places the hand that's not holding the apple on top of his shoulder. One of his hands fell on her waist and pull her closer, but the apple on the other hand is in between them. "Get that apple away," Christopher said huskily against her lips. She listens and put the apple on the couch.
Once the apple is out of sight, Christopher pulls her in as their chests are press against each other. Both of her hands wrap around the back of his neck naturally.
"Christopher!" Grandma Lou yelled from the kitchen makes them pull apart breathlessly. "Do you like your egg scramble or sunny side?"
"I'm fine with both," Christopher yelled back, his eyes never taking off of Emilyn.
"We shouldn't do that here, what if she caught us?" Emilyn said softly.
"Then that will be an easy explanation." He smirks.
"That's terrible," She hit his chest. "I don't want my grandma to catch us making out on the couch. That's horrible." Emilyn grimaces at the thought of it.
"Come on, we should tell her now." Christopher pulls her out from the couch.
"My apple," Emilyn said, picking it up from the couch. Christopher chuckles and shakes his head. "What?" Emilyn asked.
"Nothing, let's go." Christopher then pulls Emilyn towards the kitchen.
"Actually is your apple now." Emilyn gives it to him as he pulls her to the kitchen.
"Hold on to it for me," Christopher told her and Emilyn nods.
"Wait a minute, I'm almost done." Grandma Lou glance at them as they enter the kitchen. "Take a seat."
"Ahem." Christopher clears his throat and grandma Lou turns around to look at him.
"Do you want something to drink?" She asked
Christopher shook his head no, "I got something to tell you."
"Okay, go on." Grandma turns off the stove and places the food on the plates.
"Uhm, we are dating." Christopher just blurts out. Grandma Lou pause on whatever she is doing and turn to look at both of them.
"Can you repeat that?" Grandma Lou asked.
"your granddaughter and I are dating," Christopher said again.
"Are you serious? You are not joking, right?" Grandma Lou looks at Emilyn to clarify.
"Yes, what Christopher said is true." Emilyn nods.
"Oh my god." Grandma Lou covered her mouth. "My baby is finally dating someone." She came over and hug Emilyn. She breaks the hug and went to give Christopher one too. "You finally have the guts to ask her."
"What do you mean finally?" Emilyn asked, scrunching her eyebrows.
"Uhmm..." Grandma Lou scratches her head. "I know that Christopher likes you."
"You knew?" Emilyn said incredulously.
"For a few weeks actually." Grandma Lou grins. Emilyn groans internally if she had known about that information, then it won't turn out the way it was. "Come on, don't stand around. Come sit and eat." Grandma Lou said. "Urghh." Suddenly, she let out an excruciating sound and bend down clutching her stomach.
"Grandma are you okay?" Emilyn rushes over to help her. "Where does it hurt?"
"Emilyn, sit her down on the chair first," Christopher told her. Emilyn slowly leads Grandma Lou to sit on the chair before getting the medicine and a cup of water.
"Here, take this." Emilyn hand her the medicine and she took it. "How are you feeling?" Emilyn asked worriedly, squatting down in front of her.
"Much better now." Grandma Lou gave an assuring smile. "Don't worry about me, it sometimes will happen. I'm used to it."
"Why didn't you tell me about this?" Emilyn frown.
"I don't want to worry you."
"But-" Emilyn was interrupted by Grandma Lou.
"No, buts. I just don't want to make you worried. You have to jobs to handle, I can't let you worry about me." Grandma Lou said. "Now, come let's eat our breakfast before it gets cold."
Emilyn is still anxious about what happened, "Emilyn, let's eat first, okay?" Christopher said.
"Listen to him Emilyn, you know you can't skip breakfast." Grandma Lou told her. "I'll be fine." She pats Emilyn's hand in a comforting manner.
Christopher pulls Emilyn up and leads her to the table and pulls her chair out. Once everyone is settled, they dig into grandmas breakfast. "Anyways, here is your apple." Emilyn places it next to his plate.
"Thanks." Christopher took a bite on it. Emilyn looks up to see her grandma smiling brightly at them.
