Chapter 35

Mr.Billionaire Meets Ms.Clumsy

"So here are the files that you have to organize." Christopher places a whole stack of unorganized files with stacks of paper on top and inside the files.

"What?" Emilyn said looking at all the files in shock, flicking through the files and the stack of paper. "So many."

"No whining and get to work," Christopher said.

Emilyn frowns and studies the stack of files and papers first. She has no clue how to do this, which one goes where? Where should she start?

"Christopher help," Emilyn call out to him, helplessly. He turns his attention from the computer to her. "Where should I start?"

He glances at the files, "Pile the papers which have the date 2019 and then get a new file to organize them into different parts."

"Would you care to tell me what are the different parts?" She asked.

Christopher sighs and took a paper to write it down. He passes it to her, "see that isn't so hard." Emilyn took the paper from him. "If it is so tiring then why ask me to help you." She rolled her eyes, separating the stack of papers.

"I'm sorry, is not that I'm frustrated with you." He said. "Is just that I don't do stuff like this explaining every single detail to people." He explains. "Mostly, they understand with one single word or there is a supervisor to teach the others."

"But you should expect to explain it in detail to me, I don't belong in your company," Emilyn told him.

"I know," Christopher said. "Just come to me when you don't understand okay?" She nods and gets back to work. After a long eyesore sorting, she finally finishes. "Christopher, where do I get files to store these?"

"Try to find it outside, there should be a cupboard where my secretary stores unused files," Christopher told her. She got up from her seat and head to find those files.

In the midst of finding, someone called her name, "Emilyn." She quickly turns around to see who is it.

"Pierce? What are you doing here?" She asked.

"I should ask you this question."

"I'm working for Christopher," Emilyn told him. He scrunches his eyebrow confused, "I quit my cafe job and I'm now helping Christopher on Saturday."

"I see." He nods. "What are you finding for?"

"Have you seen some empty files around here?" Emilyn asked, looking through the drawers and shelves.

"I think is somewhere around here." Pierce opens the cabinet behind her and digs through it. "Here you go." He pulls out a box. "Is a little dusty, but is still usable."

"Thanks." Emilyn scrunches her eyebrows and sweeps some dust away. "Do you know where are the stationaries? Such as tapes, labels, glue. etc." Her nose wrinkle as the dust flew away.

"Oh, right here." took another box out of the cabinet.

"can you stack it up on top?" She asked.

"Are you sure you can carry it?" He asked with an eyebrow raise. Emilyn nods. Pierce hesitantly looks at her and stacks it up.

"Lead the way," She told him. Pierce walks in front of her and makes sure that she doesn't trip on anything on the way to the office.

"Careful," Pierce said, holding the door open for her.

"What in the world is going on?" Emilyn heard Christopher said as she walks into the room, taking the top box from her

"Hi," Emilyn said with a smile.

"What are you doing carrying two boxes which are towering your height," Christopher asked, not amused at all.

"These are the things that I need."

"Why can't you ask Pierce to help carry it for you?" He turns towards Pierce glaring at him, "Why didn't you help her?"

"I swear I did ask." He put his hand up in surrender. "She insisted to carry it by herself."

"But he did a great job on guiding me to your office." She gave a smile to Pierce. Christopher didn't say anything but just grumble placing the box on the ground. Emilyn place her box on the floor, "So, Pierce what are you doing here?" She turns to face Pierce at her side.

"Your boyfriend needs to discuss something with me and Jax." He takes a seat on one of the chairs in front of Christopher. "Are this all you have to organize?" He flicks through the stacks of files and loose paper.

"Don't mess up the pile!" Emilyn shouted. His hands froze over the files. "I'm sorry, is just that I took so long to organize them." He pulls his hands back from the files.

"Do you need help?" He offered.

"I think I got it from here," Emilyn told him. "But you can help me fill in the labels."

"Alright, give me those things." She hands him the labels and the marker. "Here is the list that Christopher gave me with the names." Then, Pierce and Emilyn both work together putting the paper in the file and labelling them.

"Let me tell you a secret, you know that time when you ignore Christopher," Pierce started. "He lost his temper and threw a tantrum."

"really?" Emilyn glances at Christopher typing on his computer. He didn't even look up from his computer, is like he didn't even hear a thing Pierce said. "Can you tell me more about Christopher? Like does he do any dumb stuff before?" She asked, putting the paper into the file. "I asked him before, he said he doesn't do dumb things."

He chuckles, "he really did tell you that. So wrong." He shakes his head, "we did so much dumb stuff together." Pierce close the file.

"You guys have known each other for very long I presume."

"Yeah, since the first year of high school."

"Wow," I'm impressed. "So tell me what dumb things you guys did."

"Let me recall, which one should I tell you." Pierce thought for a while. "I remember, we repaint the schools' football field." He said. "We took a few cans of paints a drew on it. One memorable picture is drawing out schools' principal face with some inappropriate writings."

"Then what happens?" Emilyn asked, her hands pause putting the paper into the file.

"When we head home, it started raining heavily. The drawing was all wash away, but the football field was covered in different color paint at least."

Emilyn laughs, "Do you have a picture of it?"

"I'm not sure, it was in my old phone. I don't think I transfer it to my new phone." He said.

"Is there any more?" She asked, placing the paper into the file once again.

"I still got loads, wait till Jax gets here." He smirks.

"Do you think Christopher heard us? He doesn't seem to have any reaction." Emilyn asked, glancing at Christopher.

"Don't mind him, when he's engrossed in his work. Nothing can disturb him at all, watch." Pierce waved his hands in the air and knock on the desk but nothing.

"Pierce, go check to see when Jax is coming." Christopher suddenly said something which makes Pierce and Emilyn jump from their seats. "And get some drinks while you are at it."

"Uhm...okay I'll go make a call." Pierce excuses himself from the room. Emilyn watches Christopher as he works. Typing smoothly on the keyboard, smoothly with no breaks and eyes never leaving the screen. Not even leaving his eyes from the screen to look down on the keyboard.

"Yes, do you need anything?" He asked, eyes not leaving the screen. Emilyn was shocked, how did he know she is staring at him. "Staring doesn't answer your questions." He said. "Just say what you want to ask."

"How did you know?" Emilyn asked. "Your eyes never left the screen in front of you, just like right now." She pointed.

"Is rude to point you know." He finally turns away from the screen. "I can feel when someone is staring at me, call it human instinct."

"But how come you didn't say anything when Pierce waved his hands and knock on the table."

"That I choose that not to response." He said. "And didn't I told him to buy something." He raises an eyebrow and smirk, leaning back on his seat with his arms crossed in front of him.

"But you didn't hear what Pierce said?" She asked, curiously.

"No, what did you guys talk about? Is it important?"

"No." Emilyn quickly said. "There's nothing you need to know." She shakes her head and gave him a small smile.

"Alright," He eyed her suspiciously. "are you finish with your work?" Emilyn shakes her head no. "You know you got to finish this my today right?"

"What?" Her mouth opens into an O. "This is a lot." She pointed to the materials in front of her.

"That's why you should get to work, instead of talking to me." He smirks. Emilyn sigh and groan getting back to her work.

When she moves some of the files that were completed, the stapler fell. Christopher's table is spacious, the biggest table ever. But the papers and files are just crowding around the table and there's not enough space.

Emilyn looks down on the floor and back to the table, contemplating if she should use the floor instead. "The floor has a decent amount of space. Why not." Emilyn thought. She then moves everything to the floor and sat on the floor to organize the files.

"Hey, we are back." Emilyn turns her head to the opened door. Pierce walked in with Jax behind him. "Woah, what's going on?" he looks at me. "Did Christopher chase you down the floor?" He asked.

"No, I just decide to move here. There's not much space on the table." Emilyn told him. "Hi, Jax." She waved.

"Hi, how are you keeping up with the work Christopher gave you?" Jax asked.

"Just peachy," She said with a smile.

"Oh, you guys are here." Christopher finally said something. "Where is Emilyn?" He asked. Pierce pointed to the floor. "What are you doing down there?" He looks down from his desk.

"There's not much space on your desk, here is so much better," Emilyn told him.

"Alright," He sat back down on his seat. "What are you guys standing there for, we got something to discuss." Both Pierce and Jax hurried and pull out a seat in front of his desk. "Here, Emilyn." Pierce passes her a drink. "I don't know what you like so I got you juice."

"Thanks." Emilyn took the drink from his hand.

"Grab it properly," Christopher warned her. "You don't want to end up cleaning this whole place." He said with an amused face and Emilyn scowl at him. Both Pierce and Jax glance at both of them amused by their conversation but says nothing.

Emilyn grabs her drink and continues with her things and the boys continue to do whatever they came here for. But there's one conversation that perks her ears, "We are going to Italy for the race in the following month or two months." Christopher said.

"Italy, yes!" Pierce shouted in glee.

"That's if you make it to that round," Christopher said.

"If I don't make it to that round, I still get to go as your roadie"

"You guys are going to Italy?" Emilyn asked, interrupting their conversation. "Can I come along?"

"Are you eavesdropping?" Christopher asked with one eyebrow raise.

"Is not really consider as eavesdropping, I'm in the same room as you."

"You should come, is going to be so much fun," Jax said. "If Christopher allows you to follow us." Emilyn looks at Christopher fluttering her eyelashes.

"We will see about it." He said. "Now, stop interrupting our conversation and finished up your work. Are you almost done?"

"Almost." She glances at the small pile on the ground.

"Finish it or you not going home." Emilyn grimaces at him.

"Wow, way to threaten your girlfriend." Pierce scoff.

"Can we get back to our discussion?" Christopher said. They both nod and Christopher gestures to Emilyn with his hands to complete her work. Soon, she finally completed her work. She piles the label files into a neat stack and returning all the stationaries that she had borrowed. When she got back into the office, three of them are still engrossed in the discussion. So, she took a seat on the couch at the side of Christopher's table and wait for him.

"Emilyn, Emilyn" She felt someone shaking her shoulders.

"Huh?" Emilyn opens her eyes slowly, taking in the light. Trying to figure out where she is and slowly sat up.

"Let's go home." Christopher pulls her up from the couch.

"What's the time now?" Emilyn asked, rubbing her eyes.

"Is 5 in the evening."

"Oh," Emilyn nod her head. She grabs her bag and follows Christopher out of his office. "Wait." She stops in her steps. "I need to text my grandma, I'm supposed to visit her."

"I already did for you." He told her

"Oh, thanks,"

"Come on, I'll drive you to the hospital." Christopher smiles at her.

***

"Hey, Will." Emilyn came up to the counter. "The usuals."

"On coffee trips again?" he punches in the orders

"Yup. It always has to be me." She sigh

"Alright, your total is $20.60." She searches her bag for her wallet, but she can't find it.

"Hey, lady. Could you hurry up and I'm in a rush!" A man shouted behind her.

"I'm sorry," Emilyn apologizes to that man. "Will, can you put it on my tab. I can't seem to find my wallet."

"No worries." He said and Emilyn got out of the line, but not missing the scowl from the man behind her. She frowned, he doesn't have to be so grumpy. She didn't hold up the line that long.

"Where did I leave my waller?" Emilyn searches through her bag, but she couldn't find it. "Could it be at Christopher's office, his car, the hospital, or worse somewhere else?" She thought.

Then, she decided to call Christopher to asked, "Hey, did you miss me already." He answered.

"No, I mean yes, no...Hold up." Emilyn shakes her head. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling."

He chuckles, "Hey, take a deep breath. I'm not going anywhere."

"Sorry, I just want to ask have you seen my wallet in your office? It could be on your couch."

"Hold on, let me check." She waited for a while before he said, "Is it a light blue, squarish shape?"

"Yes, yes," Emilyn said happily. "Thank god," She let out a breath of relief. "I'll come and get it from you during lunch, is that okay."

"Yeah, no worries. I got nothing planned for lunch, just come by." He said. Emilyn thank him again before ending the call.

Once is lunchtime, she quickly grabs her bag and makes her way out of the office. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry." She bumps into someone.

"Hey, what's the rush?" Emilyn looks up and found that she has bumped into Andrew. "Where are you heading?" He asked.

"I got an important personal thing to take care of," She told him. "I should go now." Emilyn excuse herself and left the office.

In 10 minutes, she made it into Christopher's office building. This time the security isn't that tight, no guards or body scanners anymore. Emilyn heads straight to the receptionist and asks for the visitor entrance card.

The receptionist looks at her suspiciously and hands her the card. Emilyn takes the card and heads up to Christopher's office with the elevator, he told her that she can just head straight into his office when she arrives. She doesn't have to knock.

So that's what Emilyn did, she pushes open his office door. Her eyes grew wide, instead of seeing Christopher by himself in the office, a girl has her hands wrap around his neck, and his arms wrap around her small waist. Emilyn stood there with her feet planted firmly on the ground and not a single sound comes out of her mouth.

Their heads turn in her direction and she panics. "Uhm...sorry, I didn't know you were busy. I'll come back later." She hurriedly walks out the door. Her head was pounding and she felt something weird inside her stomach.

The elevator opens and Pierce walks out with a smile on his face, "Hey, are you here to have lunch with Christopher?" He asked.

"Uhm...no. He's busy, I'm actually going to now." Emilyn told him, stepping aside to get into the elevator.

"Oh come on, he won't be busy for you. Let's go find him." He starts to pull her arm towards Christopher's office.

"No, I don't think I should interrupt him," Emilyn said, trying to pull her arm away.

"Come on, don't be silly."

"Hey," Christopher came out of his office. "I was coming to get you." He looks at Pierce's hand on her wrist and Emilyn quickly pulled it away.

"I bump into her just now, but she says you are busy," Pierce said.

"No, I'm not," Christopher said. "Come on, you said you left something of yours." Christopher walks first and Pierce drags her into his office.

"Hi." That girl that Christopher had in his arms earlier said.

"Hi," Emilyn reply, shyly.

"The name is Chloe and you are?"

"I'm Emilyn."

"Tsk, tsk, Chloe Anderson what are you doing here?" Pierce said with his hands crossed.

"Why can't I come here?" That girl Chloe said, folding her arms.

"I don't know." Pierce shrugs and both of them glare at each other.

"Emilyn, come over here." Christopher gesture Emilyn to his desk. She walks around the two glaring people. "Here." He took out her wallet from his desk.

"Thank you." Emilyn took it.

"Luckily, you left it here. What if you drop somewhere else, someone might have stolen your money."

"I know, I'm so careless." Emilyn shakes her head.

Christopher chuckles, "Do you want to have lunch with us?" Emilyn scrunches her eyebrow and tilts her head to the side. "Us as in with Pierce and Chloe."

"No," Emilyn immediately reject when she heard Chloe's name being mention. "I got a deadline to catch up on." She lied.

"Okay, I'll see you after work?"

"No, I can't." Christopher's face falls into a frown. "Ana is picking me up, we got something to do."

"Alright." He sighs and pulls her in by her waist. "Text me when you reach home, okay?"

"Yeah, I will." He kisses her on the forehead and let her go. "Uhm...I'm going now." Emilyn said. Christopher nods and she waves goodbye to him.

"Bye Pierce." She said. Pierce got out of the glaring competition and wave to her. "Uhmm...nice meeting you Chloe." Emilyn gave her a small smile before leaving the office.

After Emilyn left, Chloe asked,  "She's your girlfriend?"

"Yeah. Cute right?" Christopher said with a smile.

"Yeah, very cute." She sneers.
