Chapter 40

Mr.Billionaire Meets Ms.Clumsy

"Christopher Evans!" One of the reporters points out. Everyone including Emilyn turns their heads. "Christopher Evans any comments about your relationship with Ms Walker."

"Follow me." He whisper into Emilyn's ear when he reached her. He grabs her hands and pulls her out of the crowd with Gabe in front of him, pushing the reporters away to make a path for them.

"I'll head up with Emilyn for a while, you stay around until I call you." He told him and proceed to pull her to the elevator.

"Christopher, why are you here for?" Emilyn asked while they wait for the elevator.

"What do you think?" He asked. "Of course to save your butt." The elevator arrives and they got in.

"no, what I mean is why are you following me up to my office?"

"I got something to talk to your supervisor."

"What is it?" Emilyn asked.

"I will tell you later." He said and got out of the elevator as it reaches her floor, pulling her out with him. The whole office stood up or some just standing at their desk and stare at them as they walked by. Christopher knocks on Taylor's door, they got in when she granted entry.

"Ahh, the two famous talk of the town. What can I do for you?"

"You want news? I got it for you." Christopher said. Emilyn turns to look at Christopher with a frown.

"I'm listening."

"I'll give you the story on my relationship with Emilyn."

"And why would you do want me to reveal your relationship between you two? Why not another magazine?"

"Do you want the story or not?" He said.

"Sure, how do you want to do this? A sit-down interview or just tell me the story and I'll put it into writing for you."

"Is anyone going to ask about my input?" Emilyn said, interrupting their conversation. "Have you ask if I want this?"

"Sorry, Emilyn. What do you want?" Taylor asked turns her attention towards Emilyn.

"I don't want to tell anything to the public."

"Not this again." Christopher softly mumbled and run his hand through his hair.

Taylor senses the tension between them, "Uhm...I'll give you guys some time to discuss." Taylor got out of her seat and left the office.

Christopher starts as soon as the door shut, "We been over this Emilyn, but now the situation is different. They caught us with photos and you still decide to keep it a secret." Emilyn huff and cross her hands in front of her. "Can you please don't be so stubborn? The only thing to do now is, to tell the truth. If you don't have a better idea, we will go with mine." They stare at each other, Christopher trying to read what she is thinking and Emilyn trying to read what he is thinking. "Is this because of some other reason?"

"What reason?" Emilyn asked.

"I don't know you tell me." He grumbled.

"I don't know what you mean." She frowns.

"Is there another guy?"

"Guy? What guy?"

Christopher groan, "last week when we waited for your grandma to wake up from her surgery, I woke you up and you said a name rist." He said. "Who is rist or what is rist?"

"Rist? What's that? I've never heard of anything like that." Emilyn scrunched her eyebrows. "Did I really say it?"

"Yes you did, who is he?"

"I don't know, I've never heard anyone or met anyone with this name."

"Tell me the truth Emilyn, are you seeing someone else?" He asked again.

"No, I'm not. How could you assume that?" She frowned.

"Then who is he?" he raises his voice

"I say it before, I don't know," Emilyn said even louder.

The knock on the makes them turn around to see who is it, "Uhm...I didn't mean to disturb you but, can you guys be softer a little. We don't want the whole office to hear both of you." Taylor's head peeks out of the small crack of the door.

"I think we will need to discuss more on it, we should be going now," Christopher said.

"But the reporters are all over the streets, how are you going to leave the building?" Taylor asked.

"I'll manage." He said in a monotone voice. "Let's go Emilyn." He grabs her hand and starts pulling her towards the door.

"Christopher, where are we going?" Emilyn asked, everyone in the office eyes are on them as they walked by.

"I want you to think about the situation and think what is a rist or who is a rist? I want answers." He said, pressing the button for the elevator.

"But I told you before, I don't know who is that person," Emilyn said as they enter the elevator.

"I said to think about it, it came out of your mouth. You are definitely  able to recall it." He told her. "I don't want a word from you until you can answer those 2 questions. Understand." Emilyn nod. Christopher brought her to the parking basement where his car and Gabe is there. They got in the car and left the parking lot.

Emilyn wants to ask where are they going, but if she did, Christopher will give her that death glare again. So, all she could do now is sit and think about the question he wanted. Emilyn already knows the answer to the first one. But the second one, she has no clue. "Who is rist? Is it ris without a t or with a t?" She thought.

"Rist, rist, rist." She repeats that name several times in her head.

***

"Let's go." He opens her side of the door. She didn't realize that they have left the city until now.

"Where are we?" Emilyn asked him, getting out of the car.

"This is one of the houses I purchase." Emilyn walk with him. The house on the outside looks quaint and there are cobblestones pathway leading towards the house. "Wow," She said once Christopher opens the door. The whole place is beautiful, so cozy and quiet too, but a little hint of luxury.

"Have you thought about what I said?" He asked. Emilyn turns to see him leaning on the arm of the couch. She nod. "What's the answer?"

"I've thought long and hard for this one, but I know that I didn't tell you the whole truth." She started explaining, scratching the back of her ear. "Well, partially is true about not wanting my face on media. The other part is my insecurities." she sighs. "I know I'm not the girl you used to date. I'm not famous or pretty with a tall figure, small waist. I don't have many accomplishments and my background is not colorful."

"Is that the reason why?" He asked and Emilyn nod. "You know why I choose you?" She shook her head. "I choose you because you are funny, kind, hard-working and I love it when you are passionate about your job. Your face lights up every time  you talk about your job."

He walks towards Emilyn and pulls her closer to him by the waist. "I don't care if you are not tall or skinny or have a colorful background." He continues, "I love everything about you. I love your height, I love your body and your cute face." He boop her nose and Emilyn scrunch up her nose.

He lightly chuckles, "don't be insecure about yourself. I, Christopher Evans choose you and you are it. Got it." He stated at her intensively. Emilyn nod. "Words, baby"

"I got it," She said softly enough for him to hear.

"So, you are not objecting to my idea anymore, right?"

"No." Emilyn shake her head.

"Good." He tucks a piece of loose hair behind her ear. "Now, who is this rist? What makes my angel say his or her name in her sleep?"

"I don't know? I seriously have no clue." Emilyn shrug.

"Okay, once you figure out. Tell me."

Emilyn nods and smiles.

"So, what are we going to do here? Are we going back?" Emilyn asked.

"No, we are staying here for tonight for the news to die down before I can announce it." He said.

"But I have to go visit my grandma."

"No worries, I've contacted the doctor and told your friend to check up on her."

"Okay." Emilyn nod. "Uhm...so what now?"

"What do you want to do?" He asked. "Do you want to watch some tv? Or you want to go to the store to get some food to eat?"

"Can we go to the store?" Emilyn said.

"Of course." He smiles. They walk out of the house. Then, Emilyn noticed something.

"where is Gabe?" Emilyn asked.

"I've told him to head back to the city first." Christopher opens the door for her and they left for the store.

After they got everything they need, Christopher suggests cooking lunch and of course, Emilyn did put up a fight with him, but he won.

"What is this? Why is it black and white?" He asked, sitting with his arms around Emilyn on the couch.

"Shh, is part of the show." Emilyn shushed him.

"I don't get it."

"What don't you get?" Emilyn turns her head up to glance at Christopher.

"like why is it black and white, why does she have magic and he can walk through walls?"

"Don't tell me you never seen her before or heard her name before?" Christopher shook his head. "So you've never watched the series before?"

"Probably not, I don't watch shows or movies that often. When did the series come out?"

"2012," Emilyn search it up. "Don't tell me you are busy working at that time."

"I think I was like 17&18 somewhere there."

"You were in high school, what did you do?"

"Uhmm...parties, homework, football, and parties." He said.

"I knew it." Emilyn rolled her eyes. The show ended and Emilyn grabs the empty plates on the plate.

"Put it down, I'll do it." He said.

"No, you cook and I'll do my fair share to clean up." Emilyn pout.

"Okay, why don't we do it together." She nods happily and took the plates to the kitchen.

"You know I'm going to educate you with movies and tv-series. Firstly, we are going to watch the series."

"Seriously," He groans. "Why? I don't really like to watch tv either." Christopher took the sponge and scrub the plates.

"Then why would you have a tv in your house?" Emilyn asked.

"to play Ps4 and sometimes Pierce and Jax will come over." She hummed, Christopher passes her the soapy plate.

"How did you find this place?" Emilyn took it from him and rinse the soap off.

"Do you believe that something happens when you least expected it?" He glances at Emilyn.

"I think so, isn't that how we met." A smile creeps on her face.

"Exactly, and is one of the best things that ever happen to me." He cups her cheek and places a soft kiss on her lips. "Anyways, back to the story. I was around 22 I guess, taking over the company the first time can get frustrating sometimes. The employees are not giving me the respect and everything is so difficult." He explains while passing the plates to Emilyn. "I drove off and randomly found this place and is for sale. Immediately, I call the realtor and bought the house once I saw it."

"That's a good decision." Emilyn praises him.

"Yeah, is my safe place when I just one to escape from the noise beside my race track." He said. "Do you have a safe place?"

Emilyn thought for a while, "No, I don't think I have it. I'm not like you Mr. billionaire can just buy a house in a snap of a finger."

He chuckles, "You will find one or maybe you didn't know you already have one."

"I guess." Emilyn shrug.

***

"What?" Emilyn sits up from her lying position on the couch. "I fell asleep," Emilyn said, picking up the blanket that's on her. "When did I fall asleep? Wasn't we just watching a show? Where is Christopher?" Emilyn thought. "A fragrant smell came from the kitchen, she got up and made her way to the kitchen.

Christopher's back is facing her, while he cooks. Every move just right, every muscle hidden under his close tightens as he moves. Emilyn shamefully watching his every move silently.

"Oh god!" He turns around and saw Emilyn. The pan Christopher was using, slides down from the stove.

"The pan!" Emilyn shouted, running to save it, but Christopher got it.

He let out a sigh, "You scare me, why didn't you tell me you are here?"

"I didn't want to disturb you, you're so focused on cooking."

A smirk formed on his lips, "So, you were saying that you were checking me out?" He raises one of his eyebrows.

"N-no, I wasn't." She stutters and shakes her head.

"Don't worry, I don't mind you checking me out." He pulls her closer by the waist. "Do you like what you see?"

Emilyn stares at Christopher, "Tell me the truth." He said in a deep low voice. Emilyn nod. "That's good." He smiles. "Let's eat, before it gets cold." He releases her and puts the food on the plate.

After they finish with dinner, Christopher leads her to his room. Then, Emilyn realized,  "I don't have any clothes to change in, you drag me here without packing anything."

"Don't worry, I got you covered." He walks towards the closet and Emilyn follow after him. "Oh my god, this closet is huge for a quaint house." She thought, capturing every inch of the closet.

"Here you go." Christopher pulls out a few pieces of clothing. She took the clothes from him and examine them.

He gave her a plain green shirt and boxers, "This?" She asks, showing him the boxers.

"Is the only thing I can find that you can fit. Don't worry, I promise is clean." He smirks. Emilyn rolled her eyes at him. "Here's a towel and there is an extra toothbrush if you open the mirror." She tilts her head to the side, confuses.

"Come on." He gestures her to follow him to the bathroom. He opens the mirror for her and Emilyn nods. "Do you need me to show you how the shower work?" He has that smug look on his face.

"No." Emilyn push him away. "Go away, I need to take a shower." He laughs and left the bathroom. When Emilyn has finished with her shower, Christopher is nowhere to be seen. "Christopher?" She called out but he is nowhere to be seen. Not downstairs or the kitchen. Where did he go?

The last resort is to call him. The sound of his phone rang at the table at the side of the bed. Emilyn sigh and sat down on the edge of the bed, "I guess, I'll have to wait for him."

"Hey, you're back." Emilyn stood up from the bed when the bedroom door opens.

"I went to the store to buy you this." Christopher shows her makeup wipes in his hands. "I thought you might need this."

"Thanks." Emilyn smiles and took it from him. She heads to the bathroom to remove her makeup.

"You look even gorgeous without makeup, do you know that." Christopher came into the bathroom and wraps his arms around Emilyn.

"Yes, you told me that before." She smiles. "You said it the first time, you sleepover."

"I know, but you are. Trust me." He nuzzles into the crook of her neck. Emilyn looks into their reflection in the mirror, she smiles at the sight of it. They look so cute together, with his hands wrap tightly around Emilyn's waist.

"I'm going to take a shower," Christopher said, releasing his hand from her waist.

"Alright, but can you wait till I'm done," Emilyn asked, wiping her makeup.  Christopher didn't listen and proceed to take off his shirt.

Emilyn spotted in the mirror, Christopher is shirtless. "What are you doing?" Emilyn turns around and meets his bare, structured, and just the right amount of packs not too much and not too little.

"I'm taking a shower, obviously," he smirks, realizing Emilyn is staring at him. "Like what you see?"

N-no." Emilyn stuttered and look away.

"Is not like you haven't seen before, you saw this twice." He said with a laugh. Emilyn turns to face him and glareS. He went and hang his shirt on the rack.

When Christopher's back is facing her, she notices a tattoo on his lower back. "I didn't know he got a tattoo," Emilyn thought. "What is that word on his back." She squints her eyes.

"Ahem." He coughs, "Do you want to watch me shower? I don't mind." He winks.

"No! I'm not going to watch you. You pervert!" Emilyn shouted and dash out of the bathroom. While waiting for Christopher, she decides to head down to get a glass of water. With a glass of water in her hand and a phone in another, she decided to do some research on her project. "What should I do?" She asked herself.

After doing some more research, she finally found it. Downing the glass of water and head upstairs, she types her ideas down while climbing up the stairs.

In her notes app, she found one eye-catching title. This note is named Christopher. "That is interesting." Emilyn thought, she opens the door to the room and sat on the edge of the bed. Scrolling through the notes, there is a list of names. 'Christopher, Krist, Topher and so many variations. But there's one name that got her attention. The name 'rist.' "I got it!" she shouted.

"You got what?" Emilyn looked up from her phone and saw Christopher bending down to her height and his face an inch away from her face.  Emilyn's gaze falls onto his bare chest, but she quickly averts her stare and meets with his eyes.

"I got it, I know who is rist," Emilyn said.

"And who is it" he raises one eyebrow. "Is it a he?"

"Yes." He frowns.

"Are you guys close?"

"Yeah and he stayed by my side every time I need him, he stayed over my house before." Emilyn teases him.

"He stayed with you before?" A deep growl erupts from his throat.

"And we sleep on the same bed too when he stayed over." Emilyn tried to stifle a laugh.

"He did?" Christopher growls. "Give me his address and phone number, I'm going to kill him." Emilyn laugh. "Why are you laughing?" He frowns. She kept laughing. "Emilyn, this is not a laughing matter."

"Rist," Emilyn called out.

"Why are you saying his name?" Christopher scrunches his eyebrow.

"That's your name." Emilyn finally told him. "Is inside your name."

"That's my name?" He question.

"Yeah, R-I-S-T." She spelt it out for him. "It is from Christopher. Can you see it?"

"Oh." He nods.

"I think I was finding you a nickname because you have nicknames for me. So I want to find something special for you." Emilyn explain.

"You don't need to." He smiles.

"Can I ask you a question?" Emilyn asked.

"Go ahead."

"Why didn't you tell me you have a tattoo?" She asked.

"It just never came out. But yeah I have a tattoo."

"Can you turn around? I want to see it clearly." Christopher turns around for her and Emilyn spot the tattoo on his lower back. "What does it say?"

"Libertà," he said in an accent. "That means freedom in Italian."

"Why choose it in Italian?"

"I don't really know, I was half-drunk and I saw the word and it looks nice. So I got it." He said.

"Why the word freedom?"

"I didn't tell you my childhood, but my dad was controlling. He controls my brothers and me from school work to our whole life until 18." Christopher explains.

"Can I touch it?" Emilyn interrupts. He hums in response. She slowly traces the words, one alphabet at a time. His back stiffens when her fingers touch his back.

Christopher coughs and continues, "When I got to university, I enrolled to a place far away from him. And one drunken night with Jax and Pierce, I got the tattoo."

"Is beautiful," Emilyn said softly, still tracing it, every curve of the letters. A hand grabs her wrist which stops her from tracing the letters. She looks up and found Christopher staring at her.  "Did I do something wrong?  If this is about the tattoo, then I'm sorry. I'm not going to touch it ever again." Emilyn said with a slight stammer.
